This is the first video I've made for the Wallander version of this song, produced by Calum Malcolm. It was shot entirely in Sweden, at locations used in the BBC's Wallander series starring Kenneth Branagh... can you spot all the scenes?

    Tram wires cross northern skies
cut my blue heart in two
my knuckles bleed down tattered street
on a door that shouldn't be in front of me
Twelve thousand miles, away from your smile
I'm twelve thousand miles away from me
Standing on the corner of Brunswick
got the rain coming down and mascara on my cheek
Oh whisper me words in the shape of a bay
shelter my love from the wind and the rain
    Crow fly be my alibi
and return this fable on your wing
take it far away to where gypsies play
beneath metal stars by the bridge
Oh write me a beacon so I know the way
guide my love through night and through day
Only the sunset knows my blind desire for the fleeting
only the moon understands the beauty of love

So much so in fact, that a year or so later he booked tickets for Purbeck Folk Festival - purely so we could see Emily Barker live. I can remember Emily Barker's performance vividly and I loved it so, so, so much. Because of that folk festival I'm still totally obsessed with folk music to this day (I went to Purbeck again last summer :D) And not only did Emily Barker help me discover folk but her song 'Disappear' really helped me through a rough year at school :) So, ironically this song makes me super nostalgic. Hauntingly beautiful. And a perfect match to the Wallander series. I only wish the Series had been longer. Might need to watch it a second time.

Personally al I wanted to do with Wallander was kill him off, in the series I have not read the books and so it may be different for the written character. The stories were good but given the adaptation for the screen they could have been better without him. It seemed they went way to far in the flawed human anti-hero direction to the point I just wanted to slap him upside the head and tell him to grow a bloody spine.
All the characters in it were flawed humans, as we all are, but with all the others they reached a balance, even with the criminals, but not with the lead sadly.
