I have made an observation, this bird is over the top fearful, it seems almost like he’s defending his life in his mind. my African Grey used to be like this, unfortunately when he was at my father’s (who had cancer, and passed away) he was having really lame wellbeing, he wasn’t having the proper care, and he seen his best buddy escalate in health, he seen some other harsh things in my home, he was in trauma. The first thing it reminded me, is when I just started his rehab process we used a towel too, Chako was being almost identical to Roman in behavior, I was of course scared of him because I knew he could slice a chicken bone in half, he was biting and territorial, and so scared! And of course he would be scared, and so of course he’d make his best effort to get the threat fearful of him. The change happened when I removed the towel. It was like in this video, when I offered the towel for him to step up, he’d go attack it, whenever I tried to loure him with the towel I’d actually accidentally loured him to attack the towel. I’d rather be hands off, than be hands on with a towel, because than you can build mutual trust and eventually introduce more hands on techniques (and I also don’t love being bitten through the towel 60 times per minute). I think targeting and stationing can be the best base tool for this mission. My bird is now being really well, he’s so gentle and not aggressive, he plays with toys and eats the best diet (natural, fresh wholesome and diverse), and he’s receptive to training, he’s receptive to touch (stepping up and petting on the head) and is willing to perch comfortably on my hand if he’s in the mood for it. he’s not an anxious bird anymore and it is really rewarding to observe his progress, really inspiring and insightful. I really liked this smart and kind lady, Roman is lucky to have her. And Roman is such a character! I think they're gonna do great and I'm really looking forward to seeing more from them.
I'd like to know if it was cage aggression or what? After 7 years! It's sad. I realize the Timneh is smaller but both are African Gray's. Seems like they should be able to survive in the same cage. Especially after 7 years. What happened?
If she didn't witness the murder is she absolutely sure the other bird didn't die of other causes and he tore up the corpse. Not criticising her she seems a loving owner but if they were fighting she would of split it up before other bird died which would mean she came in found the other bird dead and the other bird eating it and assumed he killed the bird
what do you mean you should never but 2 bird's togather in a cage bird's are very social birds especially parrots nothing wrong with 2 parrots together in a cage if their fine with each other birds killing other birds like social birds like parrots it's not a normal thing you clearly don't know much about birds
I have enjoy this video thoroughly. Everyone involved was hilarious and made me laugh so hard. Not forgetting to mention Jamie's cute giggles behind the camera. 😂
😂 I love this video! I bought a bonded pair of Quakers thinking they were sooo friendly. ,(It was major cage aggression.) We are finally getting to the point where they are landing on me. You definitely have to be 💯 percent present. This was so much fun to watch.
This is nearly exact "issue" I have with my Grey. Our relationship was great the first month or so. We adopted him from poor conditions and took him for a vet check up. He had "stone" build up in his nos and the vet instructed me to inject water in his nose with a siringe...upside down (essentially water board him) to soften the stones for easier extraction. Understandably so, he doesn't trust me and bites the 💩 out of me. And only me. Although I give him all the food and handle him (with a towel) he still doesn't trust me, but will climb on my wife's hand, and anybody else without problem or aggression. He's still fond of me. Follows me, gives me his attention and it doesn't seem to be from fear, but we won't let me stratch his head for too long or climb onto my hand. Perhaps for time and patience to rebuild trust.
Great video. These teachers are amazing. Birds are harder to care for than one thinks. I would love to have one but it is just too much work for me. I will admire the birds from afar. 🤗
What a wonderful woman his owner is, for not lettting him go despite all she has been through, mad respect! We had an African Grey that was extremely agressive with other birds. He horrifically bit a toe from our Galah who had to be taken to the emergency vet to amputate his toe. He couldn’t be anywhere near other birds whatsoever. Is this something that occurs more often with African Greys?
I'm definitely not going to leave my grey alone with my conure. He so loving but he gets pretty jealous and I couldn't imagine losing my conure since he is my first and he's extremely affectionate as well.
Is jealousy why he killed the other bird? I'm just curious because I didn't hear them mention why he may have done that. I'm considering adopting one so I need all the info on them.
@NativeRedbone77 I'm not sure either they didn't explain the situation of the bird all that well. My grey gets a little aggressive around girls I've dated he'll fly on their shoulder like he's chill than bite them unexpectedly. But he's never bitten me.
I really like this lady, the bird is beautiful, just needs , well, he needs alot of training, not birds fault, idk his background, or is this his personality, idk, owner is truly trying to help the grey, so interesting for real😮😮❤

He looks like a tough one but I’m sure you guys will crack him down 💪 and become as lovely as he looks❤️.! I wish you guys the best and make the owner happy .!
Yep...Everyday is more of a train myself to train better day than to make them better trained. When I do a better job I see progress. Practice Practice Practice lol
Before having birds, I used to have a cat named Luca, she became 18 years old, from the time I lived by myself to when I got married and got kids. She lived right by my side. We were so close. And sometimes out of affection when cuddling she would suddenly bite me in the nose so hard!! Had to think of that when I saw this video, back then i just told myself she did this so I would remember her forever. And here we are 😊
I have met many bird owners that ended up places the bird in the basement or laundry room in the dark. Please DO NOT GeT A BIRD if you are not willing to put in the time or training for the bird.
I live with two cockatiels. I could never properly provide for an African Grey. I'm loving this video though and am in awe of the patience of these people. Frankly, it's quite zen with the focus on awareness and centeredness.
Great work guys! I wonder why this bird ate the other bird? It's so creepy. All of you did fantastic with Roman. I hope you can get him to be a more normal bird for this sweet lady. Love, big hugs, birdie spirit kisses. :)))
I found yall through Snake Dsicovey. I miss my Zebra FInch Rocky that I was given by friend after he lost his mate and he was a great great grandfather then. He lived a lot longer than we expected but the most suprising part was our parakeet Catbird who hated any cagemate she ever had, mourned him and sang his song after he was gone like she was tryna call him.

Excellent job at pointing out shes pulling that treat back. This is definitely a major part of their issue IMO.
She built him a gorgeous aviary..
Her setup is amazing ❤ goals for sure for my birds!!!
Great video. Excited to see more.
This has been the funniest vid I’ve seen on the channel. Now, on to look for the part 2.
Why did he kill the Timneh? Cage aggression? I used to have an Amazon as a kid and she broke my love bird’s leg after he landed on her age one time.
Have you watched marlene mc'cohen. She has alot birds. One of her Grey's tried to attack one of the younger birds.
This video is so great! There are so so many nuances to body language and it's awesome to see you guys work through this session. He's a super lucky bird to have a mom like her, she's too funny. Thanks for all the detail! It's sometimes so hard to not tell them they're good when they do a good thing 😅
These people are the bird whisperers 😮😊 love the content
He looks like a tough one but I’m sure you guys will crack him down 💪 and become as lovely as he looks❤️.!
I wish you guys the best and make the owner happy .!
Does this lovely lady have a YT channel or any social media?
Oh I am so keen to see how these two develop.
Great video - Would love to see more of Roman and Ane!
Gosh I just love your videos!!!! Thank you so much for all you do!!!!! 💜
Amazing post...
What a lovely kitchen!
So this bird pretty much wakes up every day angry and chooses violence
I never knew Greys could be this aggressive I was always under the impression they were aloof birds.
Yep...Everyday is more of a train myself to train better day than to make them better trained. When I do a better job I see progress. Practice Practice Practice lol
What constitutes "I'm gonna kill you" vs "I will take a treat and leave your finger" is so subtle.
And here we are 😊
Nice job guys.... tough bird to work with
My Grey has become very aggressive towards me too despite the fact that I raised her from 12 days old, I’m heartbroken by this turn of events.
Fascinating!
Amazing to see this is a case that you guys are training THE OWNER and minimally the bird LOL
OMG his enclosure!
I have met many bird owners that ended up places the bird in the basement or laundry room in the dark.
Please DO NOT GeT A BIRD if you are not willing to put in the time or training for the bird.
I wish more people knew the responsibility of a bird (and all animals)
I live with two cockatiels. I could never properly provide for an African Grey. I'm loving this video though and am in awe of the patience of these people. Frankly, it's quite zen with the focus on awareness and centeredness.
Just totally incredible work, you guys.
That cage is amazing
Great work guys! I wonder why this bird ate the other bird? It's so creepy. All of you did fantastic with Roman. I hope you can get him to be a more normal bird for this sweet lady. Love, big hugs, birdie spirit kisses. :)))
My African Grey puts his head down when he wants his head scratched. I never knew low head was an aggressive thing.
Maybe low head has multiple meanings. Certainly birds bow their heads for scratches. Interesting.
I really love the cage! Where did she get it from?
Custom?
i love your content
I admire her - I could NOT handle this killer
Same😭
Ane is just awesome !!! ^.^
He senses her hesitation and nervousness so he realises he’s in charge which may have been most of his life hence the pet shop he was in.
I cant wait to see follow-up videos!!
