the Arsenio Hall show was so ahead of his time.. his show was the most diverse. he would have country music acts one day and then rap music the next..

Right, he was always doing stuff like that. To me he was the only late night host that had a real connection with the musical guest.

Arsenio was the only Late Night show host that had any success against Johnny. And there must have been at least 20 people who tried to compete against Johnny and failed.

Never understood why he took so much shit from people. His show was pretty groundbreaking. He'd go from bands like Megadeth to Living Colour, to Jeff Healey, to NWA, to Miles friggin Davis.....geezus...
Much like Falon does now, people gave him shit for "Fawning" all over his guests...I think In Living Color made fun of it back then, but the fact was, again, just like Falon, the guy has a genuine appreciation for the talent of his guests and that "fawning" isn't fake. It's real appreciation and respect. It's the complainers who need to stop being so fucking cynical.
    Arsenio's show was amazing.

I remember Arsenio interviewing the actress Sally Kirkland on his show. I don't remember how the subject came up but she said she lost her viginity to fellow actor Rip Torn. "Rip Torn?" Arsenio had a lot of fun with that.

Never happened . In fact Arsenio Hall blasted Axl Rose as an “ignorant racist" on the Arsenio Hall show in 1989. Arsenio did guest host on Joan Rivers show "The Late Show" in 1988...on March 31st, 1988 - GN'R performed 'You're Crazy' and 'Used To Love Her' on The Late Show. The 1988 MTV Video Music Awards aired live on September 7, 1988, The show was hosted by Arsenio Hall and GnR did 'Wecome to the Jungle ". Not sure but your memory is a bit off on this one : )
