I have to go to Framingham ma no slot car tracks in Fitchburg and I suppose slotcars are cheaper than radio control type cars plus I can use model kits to represent jalopies and stock cars for racing
I'm a firm believer in lighter is lighter by a little or a lot. for sure. i use the yellow stuff and change it every race (points or some sort of big race). cool idea though! the yellow stuff does fray after more then 3-4 races so weekly racing gets it changed monthly.
You want the chassis as low as possible without dragging too much. Keep taking guide spacers out until the car slows down. If you take out .005 spacer and the car slows down, put the .005 spacer back in and you should be set up correctly

arent you adding the weight you shave off back with the extra solder joints and shrink tube?

You mention a video about epoxy for pin tubes, which video was that? I’m interested in trying tubes and looking for a good idea on setting the up.
