- Evan Rachel Wood explains to Drew why she wants the statute of limitations for domestic violence extended for the rest of the country, not just in California. She also talks about her experience as a spokesperson for sexual abuse survivors.
Evan Rachel Wood’s new documentary Phoenix Rising on HBO Max captures how she transformed her trauma into state law. Evan helped co-write the bill The Phoenix Act, which extends the statute of limitations for domestic violence in California. It was unanimously passed and signed into law in January 2020.
Brian Warner (aka Marilyn Manson) has denied ever abusing Wood and says their relationship was consensual.

This is hurting real survivors of abuse and it’s disgusting. Evans own husband has stated in custody court what he thinks is going on. Not to mention fbi letter she impersonated in order to obtain emergency custody of her son and leave the state. Took him from what he knows his whole life. Why would she make this up? She's already a celebrity/has money. And putting herself out there for commentors to judge her, directors to not hire her if they don't believe her, and being sued by her abuser/insulted publicly by his lawyer.
She did things while with Manson that could ruin her career. This is her way to save face. She left out a lot of important information in the documentary.... Like the fact that she dated an older man before Manson and that she later got engaged to Manson . She misleads people to think that she was a child when she got involved with Manson when she was actually 19. Her and her co-conspirator also foraged a fake FBI document. I could go on.
Because she’s gong through a custody battle. Her ex husband stated in court she lied about Manson and falsified fbi documents in order to obtain the child and run off to tn. Her previous lifestyle with Manson bit her in the butt. Mountains of evidence against her.

You make it sound like information previously came out about things than Evan did with Brian that she is now trying to spin with this documentary. But it’s the documentary that brings to light things she did with Brian (and had done to her). Why would she risking making herself “look bad” if she didn’t need to? Her career has been more than fine. If anything, coming forward could have hurt her career-this is why her PR team is said to have told her to never go public with this information. Also, how do you discount the other women and men that have come forward and even someone from Brian’s inner circle (a man who worked on his tours)? I don’t see how you can explain the multiple victims with similar stories. Have you watched the documentary before having an opinion about it?

Evan is an amazing actress and what shes done and is doing with the Phoenix act is wonderful. Whether people believe evan and all the other women who have abused Manson of the same thing are victims or not, the Phoenix act was a win for California and hopefully it can be spread to other states like she hopes.

Guys, just trust due process. There is court order ,wait for it. Truth always comes out. I think law should be if you consider yourself abuse victim get charges to your abuser instead of just talking about it or talk about abuse without mentioning names. Yeah, sorry, but the needle scratch moment for me was seeing the evidence that Evan Rachel Wood forged a letter purported to have been sent to her by an FBI agent and then later, after unilaterally making the decision to move from California to Tennessee with her son, filed that letter in a court application to stop her ex-partner Jamie Bell from having unrestricted access to his own son. The evidence for this is compelling enough to require an explanation from Wood before anything at all she says can be believed.
She’s, in fact, the narcissist in these situations. It’s bloody obvious this is all an orchestrated media stunt.
I just want to say that it pains me so much that such a beautiful human being is carrying this pain but she is a hero and an inspiration and just the true face of what it means to be brave and selfless. As a victim of narcissistic abuse that totally DESTROYED my life I just want to say thanks Evan!! Watching your documentary made me realize I am indeed a victim of abuse, the abuse is real. We need tools to recognize it and ways to escape it. What you are doing is huge and you have touched so many lives including mine. I loved you as Dolores, (Dolores in Spanish means pains) but I love you more as Evan. Evil is strong but goodness changes the world for the better and that’s what you are doing. 3. I would also like the Court to know that Evan's recent behavior with Jack is truly alarming. Evan is thankfully still facilitating Facetime though that is the only contact I have with
Jack now apart from her recent concession to let me see Jack in Florida. During a Facetime call I had with Jack on February 25, 2021, Jack said something to the effect of "You're not good Daddy, you're not here." It broke my heart. A few weeks carlier, Jack told me he drew a picture of a man who has been hurting him. Evan jumped onto the call and corrected him saying "not the man hurting you, the man hurting me". Jack said that the man's name is Brian (Marilyn Manson's real name) and he lives three miles from my house (in Los Angeles) and said that was why he was staying in Nashville. Evan's initial contention as to why she failed to return Jack to Califomia was because she says she is involved in a high profile investigation regarding supposed abuse by Brian. I have nothing to do with this investigation but Evan contends that she is now fearful for her and Jack's safety. During our recent stipulated visitation that Evan allowed at my in-laws house in Florida, Jack voiced his concern for his safety and reminded us repeatedly of the man who hurt his mom, and displayed emotional outbursts related to the case his mother is involved in. When I mentioned fun things to do in the future, Jack told me he could only do them "If Brian is in jail." I am absolutely appalled and terrified that Evan is feeding this information to our 7-year-old.
