I used 5 pound dumbbells on the ruler. I hold the dumbbells rather than the ruler, keeping my fingers away from the rotary cutter. Depending on the ruler length I use one or two dumbbells.
Thank you for that tip! I will put that on my list to try - I have on my list a video about cutting one handed, so that may be extremely useful for that!
Thanks :-) Further research shows that lots of places (e.g. Walmart, CVS, etc.) have similar clear bandage tape with slight ridges that holds the fabric well and comes off easily if you want to remove it. Keep up the good work!
I use 5 lb dumbbells also but I recently bought myself a vintage cast iron iron and if works as well..and is so cute!

Are they rubber coated dumbbells so they don’t slip? Great idea for keeping your fingers away!
@@prettysimplesara Yes, they are rubber coated.
Thank you so much for that tip I appreciate it
So glad to help 🙂
Thanks! I also just learned that putting 3M Nexcare flexible clear tape on the bottom of the ruler can work better than grippy dots.

@@bluraven216 well that's useful to know - I don't like sticky stuff left over :). Thank you!
Yes, yes, yes 😩😩😩
Every quilt!
Let me know if this helps!
Excellent info. I can’t push down due to arthritis so I use weights
How much weight/what kind of weights do you find work best?
