Remember how they used to have intermissions in the middle of films, so audiences could go to the lobby and buy refreshments? It took me decades to figure this out, but in "THE PINK PANTHER", Blake Edwards replaced the intermissions with a completely UNCALLED-FOR musical number that stops the plot DEAD for 3 minutes. Crazy thing-- it's my FAVORITE part of the movie. :) It long bugged me that the soundtrack album did not have this recording on it. So, at one point, I ran off a custom "special edition" with this song at the end as a bonus track.

Even as a non-Italian I can hear her accent slip on "chi lo" as "kilo" and "te" as "tay" and especially "solo". It's a really wonderful song and performance nevertheless!
