    This whole series has been so helpful for me and explains everything I need. Especially the deep dive into what the changes and differences mean for combat and flight.

    Hey sherriff, your vids got me to actually fly BOS multiplayer (WoL server) and learn manual engines. After blowing my radiator, got my first victory on my second flight and made it home in (mostly) one piece. Your vids are the best tutorials out here by far.

    Scheriff! Love all of your videos. I'd very much appreciate if you could do a video on defensive flying. Gun jinks/D, defending against opponent at higher E etc. Which tactics work best in which planes?

    • @mckseal
      @mckseal 6 лет назад

      Absolutely, if at all possible that's what everyone should do. But there's always situations (flying with friends who are ground attacking for example) where you end up getting into an E disadv. In the Russians countering an opponent with higher E is fairly easy, but in the 109/190 I often get into trouble in those situations.

    • @SheriffsSimShack
      @SheriffsSimShack  6 лет назад

      It is incredibly hard to explain that. Since there are one million different situations. Furthermore it takes a lot of skill and knowledge to exploit the different situations correctly. If it were easy to explain those things we would have plenty of videos. Then even if the defender does everything right the attacker still can shoot him down if he doesn't do anything wrong. I add some defensive maneuvers in each aircraft tutorial. I try to make dedicated videos at some point but so far I hadn't a good idea to explain things in a general way since there is no general situation

    • @mckseal
      @mckseal 6 лет назад +1

      Absolutely, it's one of the hardest things. But it's also something that's sorely missing so I think any attempt is a good one! Even just a compilation of breaks based on some rough situations would be awesome.

    Sheriff, could you please tell me how different the 109G6 is from the rest? I bought it recently, and I'm curious about your opinion on it, as well as it's pros and cons.
    Thanks.

    I enjoy flying the G-2 far more than the F series and feel as if it is more powerful.

  • @v44n7
    @v44n7 6 лет назад

    I feel like the g-2 has more power than the f-4 but IDK if is just a feeling, of course the g-2 can't maneuver like the f-4. I am right with this? even with gun-pods (something that I love) seems that you can go faster than the f-4 pretty easily even knowing that you don't have that emergency mode that the f-4 has.
    One question, what happend when you mannualy increase the RPM of the engine by changing the pitch? you have more power for a bit?
    PD: Amazing video

    • @SheriffsSimShack
      @SheriffsSimShack  6 лет назад +2

      thats pretty much all wrong. The G-2 is clean, like I explained, already a few kph slower. With gun pods that gets obviously worse. The roll rate and especially the acceleration suffers a lot by the gun pods.
      And your second question I answered as well in the video. 5:30.

    Does the G series actually overheat? In game I get the warnings but it seems it just takes longer for the auto radiators to compensate but your engine never actually gets damaged.

    • @SheriffsSimShack
      @SheriffsSimShack  6 лет назад +1

      the oil is overheating. it takes long but the engine can be damaged.

      Sheriff's Sim Shack. Strange I tested it a month ago though and upped the time lapse with the G4 and climbed to about 6k without having anything bad happen so I assumed it would be the same on the G2 though i was doing it on a summer map and after 6k i didn't bother pushing it anymore.

    • @SheriffsSimShack

      against first thought the problem is worse in winter. As more oxigen is available to burn for the same mixture.

    • @SheriffsSimShack
      @SheriffsSimShack  6 лет назад +1

      WoL is just a lag fest. Usually if you frame rate is fine, its the server

    • @jrepas8979
      @jrepas8979 6 лет назад

      Well I have ~120 fps on Quick mission (if I turn off vsync) and 90~28 frame drops on WOL. I know, its better with a Gsync monitor, but I see some ot other YT clips they have also these framerate "bounces".

    • @SheriffsSimShack
      @SheriffsSimShack  6 лет назад +3

      of course. Well depends what you mean. Do you mean "turn and burn"? then no. Obviously not. Shooting them down with clever tactics? Yes of course.

    • @01Laffey

      The F-4, G-2 and G-4 are significantly faster then the Spitfire Mk Vb and climb better.
      Against the LF Mk IXe, they are worse on all accounts, slower, climb worse, the Spitfire LF Mk IX is truly a beast of a 1943 aircraft. The G-14 is faster then the Mk IX by about 40km/h and climbs better up to 1.5km

    I tend to have problems with getting seperation from enemy fighter, both in the F4 and the G2.
    But with the F4 I usually can, after getting on top of the enemy after an extended (often turn-)climb, turn sharply enough to get a shot in.
    With the G series I lack this ability, the plane stalls way earlier.
    I don´t really know what I am doing wrong.
    Are my climbs too steep? Are they not steep enough?
    At what speed should I climb, both in the F4 and G2?
    Also, how much flaps do I need to get F4 levels of turn ability in a G series?

    • @SheriffsSimShack
      @SheriffsSimShack  6 лет назад +1

      The answers on many of the questions aren't easy. And maybe there are some "wrong questions".
      Generally speaking your climbs should be quite fast on both types if the enemy is out of gunrange and only a little bit below your or even on the same alt.
      A shallow 400kph climb will make sure that you extent and climb.
      *Are my climbs too steep? Are they not steep enough?*
      I dont know. What speed are you climbing at?^^ And both. Slow and fast climbs can be useful.
      Slow speed if the enemy is directly below you.
      The ideal climb speed is 260 IAS for both types. But other climb speeds can be useful as I mentioned.
      *Also, how much flaps do I need to get F4 levels of turn ability in a G series?*
      That is the wrong question. Since this isnt possible. With flaps you get more instantaneous turn rate. But that costs speed the G-2 cant recover quickly. So the phsics are not comparable. You can't use flaps to counter more weight or less acceleration. Flaps help. But they cost speed. You will never get the manoeuvrability in the G-2 you have the F-4.

    • @NotDumbassable
      @NotDumbassable 6 лет назад

      Sheriff's Sim Shack thx, the 400 kph for the extended climb was exactly what I wanted.
      Concerning the 260kph, I usually try to not get below that speed because it‘s the optimal climb speed for 109s.
      Concerning the flaps, I actually was talking about instantaneous turn speed rather than sustained turn speed. So what percentage of flaps do I need to get the same instantaneous turn rate in a G2 to get F4 levels of turn? Is this dependent on speed? Or is that negligible?
