I just purchased this online. Brand new, box and papers for $1375 US from a reputable grey market dealer. I think at this price I can live with the few negatives. The dial colors on this sucked me in as soon as I saw it. Awesome looking piece if you can get it for a reasonable price. $2k not so much.
I'm surprised you gave the lume such a glowing review. Other reviewers bashed the hell out of it.

Great review! I like the overall design, with the vintage look & case shape. It's a lot better than the case design of a lot of the modern watches today, with the slabby & thick midcase (& flat caseback).
I like that there is a good balance in thickness on the three parts making up the watch case: the bezel (incl. crystal), midcase, & caseback. I also like the large crown.
Having a watch with a generic (3rd party) movement is actually good in the long term. With a lot of manufacturers now restricting spare parts availability (e.g., the RIchemont group), it adds stress to owning watches with "in-house" movements.
However, I agree that the price is a bit steep for what it is.

The 65 being a self homage to Oris's 1965 dive watches, the 100m rating is part of that aesthetic. I would not be surprised if it could actually test at 200m. As a practical matter, even for scuba diving most recreational divers don't go down more than about 20 meters.

Superb review and I agree 100%. The Divers 65 is my favorite Oris, it is a beautiful watch. But I think it should have a better movement and more WR for the price, those are the two reasons I did not buy one. Especially when I purchased a new Glycine Combat Sub earlier this year (with the same movement and 200m WR) for $315. Just could not justify the price Oris charges.

Excellent review. I love the watch but the SW-200 movement does concern me. 100m cert not a big issue for me.

I missed it, what did you say was the diameter of the case? The diameter of the bezel? Does the bezel overlap the case? Just kidding! Other than too much repetition this was a pretty good review of this gorgeous watch. Those comparing it to Seiko are missing a lot In terms of fit and finish and overall quality. To those complaining about the movement, I’ve had two watches with this movement and it’s a great movement, being accurate if properly regulated. What really confounds me is those that want 200 m of water resistant instead of 100 m. My question would be, how many of you are ever going to take this watch into the water? It comes on a goddamn leather strap! Even if you did take it in the water, how many of you were going more than 100 m deep? The answer, nobody! So 100 m versus 200 m is pure bull. it’s just people making up ridiculous reasons for not buying watches, like the ghost position argument. Just pure nonsense. How does the ghost position affect the utility of the watch? It doesn’t. You might as well complain that you don’t get a free pizza with the watch! These are just ridiculous attempts at appearing “discriminating” in your choices by making those choices based on purely specious arguments. “I am a serious collector, and I don’t accept watches with ghost positions!” He said in his grandiosity. I will admit it is pricey at the RRP but this watch can be found much cheaper.

100m Oris watches are officially ISO certified not just "built according to ISO standard" Why isn't this applied to the under cover I'm not sure. 200,300...500m waterproof watches (without iso certification) are just more numbers on dial for potential buyers!

Always liked the design of the 65. Just like the 62 mas from seiko and the rado captain cook , you get the vintage vibes, in a modern watch. The original version is the best I feel , but all other versions are legible. The lack of screw down crown has let this down as a true diver, be hard to trust it in a swimming pool. Good informative video, you just need to relax more , as you come across as slightly robotic. But good job as it's not easy so well done .

    • @martinharrison4245
      @martinharrison4245 3 года назад

@@watchreviews4k agree with you on the value too, I think this should be no more than 1k on the leather strap. That said I've just purchased a seiko sla043 and that retails at over 4k on 2 rubber straps , with a seiko 8L 35 movement. The seiko movement has been used in other seikos that cost 2k , so it's hard to make sense of the cost sometimes

Thank you for watching Martin. "The lack of screw down crown has let this down as a true diver," You are mistaken, the Sixty-Five has a screw down crown which I test at 9:25
"you just need to relax more , as you come across as slightly robotic." The 202 videos I have produced in the last 20 months have gained over 2 million views. Therefore my presentation style appeals to many; despite you thinking I need to "relax more" and I come across as "slightly robotic". I record every video the same way; talking for circa 20 minutes straight about the piece in one take. Unlike many watch channels I do not edit out mistakes to appear flawless.
I have received hundreds of; negative, critical, trolling, hatred, comments in the last 20 months. At this stage I am immune to criticism.
Always the criticism comes from people that aren't content creators, and don't have a watch channel. The few that do have a go at creating content themselves realise it isn't as easy as it looks.
I am relaxed when I create content, I do not need to relax more. I am not robotic, my content follows a presentation style which is consistent, from video 1 to 202.
      Regards, #WR4K

My serious style of presentation was one of the reasons chronext.com signed a partnership contract with my channel.
Over the last 22 months I have received many comments from viewers telling me what changes I should make to my content. I have received many comments all wanting different changes to my content.
I have implemented some changes to improve my content such as; upgrading my 1080 camcorder to a 4K camcorder, upgrading my studio lighting, soundproofing my studio, upgrading my microphone.
However I have also declined to make changes such as yours, to "relax more" or "lighten up a bit".
This is my channel, and I make the kind of content I would like to view myself. If I changed the content to others liking, then I wouldn't be making the kind of content I want to make. I would be putting on a fake act, which is something I do not want to do.
Unlike many other watch channels I have a policy of not accepting donations from viewers via Paypal, or Patreon.
Try to remember you are getting to watch my content free of charge. Therefore as you aren't paying for it, you shouldn't tell me to; "relax more", and to "lighten up a bit".
I am not creating content to entertain you. RUclips is a marketing platform for brands to market their products directly to their target customers within the market via influencers.
Therefore my serious style of content "Includes Paid Promotion". The brand has paid me a fee, not to entertain you; but to promote their product to target customers as an influencer.
From my perspective as a content creator, the brand paying me a fee gets to suggest changes to my content they would like to see. You the viewer paying me nothing does not.

Hello, why do you almost exclusively test sports / diving watches? It's still a bit the same style. It would be good to diversify a bit with more classic and casual models.

    • @watchreviews4k

I have reviewed; diver, field, GMT, dress, daily, chronograph, digital, Flieger, tourbillion, pieces on my channel. I like divers, and they are popular with collectors; hence the majority of my reviews are divers. The other reason is dive watch reviews gain the most views, therefore generate the most AdSense revenue. Other types of watch reviews gain lower views, therefore generate lower AdSense revenue. From a content creators perspective which type of watches would you review more? The ones that make you more AdSense revenue, or the ones that make you less? This is why the majority of watch channels review divers rather than dress pieces etc. Regards, #WR4K

Personal opinion, I dont think Oris has found its own distinctive dive watch look, exp if you cover the logo of a Seiko, you would know its a Seiko (same goes with a Longines, Formex, Tudor, Mido so on). Oris divers just look too generic.
