So great that you saw Grist live on stage!! I have a video of her Norina from 1972 (on my channel) and loved it so much. She was such a charming actress! How I wish to see her complete performance of Olympia. The excerpt here was just marvelous. Have you ever seen Hallstein live on stage?
@@megadim713 unfortunatly not, though Hallstein was a household name then performing alot on TV. Attending opera performances was quite expensive and I could only go, whenever my father had an "excuse"
Then Maybe Natalie Dessay is a close second. Did Hallstein ever sing in French? German is the only language I've heard her sing in. And both singers shortened the aria in this video.
This is all I have of Reri Grist's wonderful performance (from an interview). I wish someone would share the entire performance one day. As for the Hallstein, they filmed here an abridged version with only the second part of the song.
Thanks. Since I had Grist performing the first part and Hallstein the second, I thought it a good idea to combine the two, especially since both of them are among my favorite singer-actresses, and both were marvelous here.
No, also in French, Italian, English, Latin. It was customary in the 1950s and 60s for operas to be sung in German in German-speaking countries, especially for TV productions.
Wow ! At 4:09 Hallstein sounds like a flute. I really love her light voice, so agile, swift and precise. She has an incredible technique.
Hallstein was the best Olympia ever!
Grist was the first Gilda and Norina I saw on stage

Reri Grist had a truly glorious voice.❤
I love this ingeborg video...only ingeborg can make this song look so easy to sing.......thx so much for this video .
The singing is dubbed in. Most of these films and TV programs use the "playback" technique. That's why the singing looks effortless.
This is literally Art
Thank you for these performances, which I had not seen before. Both are great.
I’ve been looking for this for years! Thank you so much for sharing!!
