  • Kate and Kava take advantage of a perfect spring day to rockhound for agates, jasper and petrified wood along Montana's Yellowstone River. The weather is warm, the rocks are plentiful, and the sun is shining - a combination that makes the rock hunt, in Kate's opinion, a perfect day. Come along to enjoy a relaxing and visually beautiful video, searching for rocks ... and peace.

    “Chunky chunky, ohh you chunky rock… Chunky chunky, for you she will walk!!” lol just a little play on that “chunky song” you always start singing and have stuck in my head lol. Love these vids. I’m learning so much and being amazed by beauty at the same time. Thank you!!

    Ya got some beauties. When I'm able to get to the beach to look for agate, I end up taking so many rocks as well. Some are just so beautiful its hard to leave them behind. Ticks are horrible. I got lime disease 25 years ago and have had health problems since. Be really careful.

    Another lovely hunt. Ticks….boo. The audacity that they are trying to eat you. ‘Hate ‘em.
    I love the odd jaspers…..jasper pudding stone! Thanks.

    I agree, Kate. Not all pretty rocks are agates. I look for pretty, and if it happens to be an agate, then it's a win/win!

    Wow Kate! That day really was a diamond! Those brecciated jaspers were just gorgeous! And and it's not everyday that the jasper finds can outshine the agates but holy moly were those awesome! I definitely think those are absolute cutters! And there were some totally phenomenal pet wood finds as well! And that limbcast was just amazing with the agate banding in the middle! And you did find some pretty spectacular agates as well! Just a bunch of banded beauties! There wasn't a bad rock in the bunch! Thanks for sharing all the spectacular finds with us! ❤

    The one water line agate looked like it was a preform at one time. Looks tumbled by the river. I don’t know for sure. Looks worked to me. Maybe my imagination.

    Nice hunt. Can you tell me if the Yellow Stone River south of Livingston has any good rock hunting locations? I'll be in the area in June.

    • @KatyDidRocks
      @KatyDidRocks  5 месяцев назад

      Hello! June is probably the worst time to visit the Yellowstone, as the river rise goes from mid-May (IE, now), to sometime in July. There may be rocks to be found in the hills while the river is up - check BLM or state lands maps. Hope this helps. :)
