I just got an A-rig specially for Hybrid striped bass in Kiser Lake in St. Paris ,Ohio. As for lipless cranks, I got a case full from different companies including KVDs , love them!
I caught 13 lbs in 20 minutes Friday including a PB. All on a red lipless I let sink and then hopped off the bottom like a jig. Never fished a lipless like that before but the results spoke from themselves!
One alternative to the football jig is the Ned football with a Yamamoto Hula Grub. When they're picky it seems to get me more bites than a full size football jig.
I'm in the Ozarks in NW Arkansas. I've been catching em on the little keitech on 8th Oz jig. The other day all I had on me was 10th Oz Ned heads so I put the swim bait on that and it worked really well.
I agree about the jig, but I also believe that you can create reaction strikes with the jig. Ive had success fishing it in the winter by adding quick pops and shaking the jig. Thanks for the tips!
Thanks Tyler. All good. I am one of those bassers who throws rattle traps as long as the water hard. Along with lippless there's the blade baits, got my PB in February on it.
Great video and it supports my point about not sticking with only 20% of your lures but diversify depending on the time of the year and be open to trying new lures and techniques 😉
I started fishing an A-rig 4 years ago. I use a Flash Mob jr rig. I have to say it’s not my favorite. I have never even gotten bit while fishing it. It’s possible bits user error, but not getting a bite in 4 years of use does not endear it to me. After watching this video, I will give it another shot.
I had no luck yet in January at the bank it will be 45 out on my day off hopefully one of my blade baits will work are one of my lipless crank where I cast from it may be any where to 8 to 12 feet will I still find them around there in my body of water
Good stuff! I have an A-rig set up and ready to go. Never fished one much. Do you like 1/8 ounce jig heads for the baits with hooks? Less than 20’ depth.
For my sake, wish you would do a video on safely grabbing or landing a fish that has top water, crankbait, any plastic lure with six hooks or more. I know you have to commit to the grab. But could you elaborate please!?
Grab the mouth firmly on the opposite site of the lure. If you cannot get your hand in there safely *your own judgment* then don't chance getting hooked. At that point just boat flip it or if it's too big for your line or rod to do so then net it and deal with removing hook after he's in the boat. Hope that helps man.
There also a tool you can use. The name escapes me as I’ve only seen it used on tv. I want to say fish grips. Like pliers and and vice grips had a baby That has a float and wristband. There is also gloves that you can Velcro on your pant leg and quick draw your lipping hand billy the kid style and then holster it
@@greatestfishermanintheworl392 thank you for that I do have that tool. Would rather man up and just grab it with my hand. The older I get the more scaredy-cat I get as well
Ever thought of going on Tackle Talk with Andrew Hayes? If you're not familiar he's another Ohio angler that shares a wealth of knowledge with listeners
When you say "really slow" for shakey head and football jig, I am still confused on how slow I should be. Can you make a vid please? :) I used to drag a Texas rig very slow, but watching some vids on youtube ppl say dragging but they weren't really dragging the bait. They were swimming it on the bottom as they were lifting up the rod. There were days that I would catch some doing that, and there were days that I would catch some by realy dragging the bait on the bottom. Can you make a vid on the speed of action please?
Thanks for putting out awesome content! What type of rod would you reccomend for throwing Flash Mob jr? I'm a kayak fisherman so I don't generally carry anything over 7 to 7' 2". Is MH sufficient? Thanks!!!
I'm not Tyler but you could fish a Flash Mob Jr with a MH just put on lighter jigs. I fish deeper water with A-rigs so I throw them with a 1/2 ounce middle and 1/4 ounce on all others (as my fishery is super deep) and fish it on a MB Destroyer Tequila Baccarac, but have used my regular heavy action with smaller jigs from time to time.
Lol Ohio is pretty weird, lots of random warm days even in the middle of January. Lakes are currently open. But I have also fished out of the state a lot in January :)
@@BassFishingHQ can u do a video on how to tie the FG knot and any other knots to connect to pieces of line please or if u have one already I would like to know
I enjoy ya videos but I just had a random thought I want run by you. If bass eat crappies why hasn't the industry hasn't made crappie looking lures they have made every other kinda fish lure.

The bass here in texas have been killing a lipless for the past month or so I actually caught my pb on a lipless on Christmas eve

Thanks for the tips. I hadn’t thought about a shaken head and worm. Gonna give it some action

Can’t wait to fish this will help a lot thanks 😊
Going fishing tomorrow here in Missouri I have a hula grub on a football head a football jig A rig finesse swimbait damiki rig and a ned
Always loved a red crankbaits in cold water
coming from minnesota, i’m saving this video for april
Nice Job with your video. Very educational. I 3D print my own bass lures and enjoy each fish I catch with them.

TY - I see you came up on dual graphs, a Mega 360, and a Mega Live! Nice. Can you do a video on dialing in Mega Live?
Yes that is in the works very soon
Thanks for the new info love your videos.
Great video I really enjoyed it and learned some things thank you very much
Great video. A lot of good information. Keep up the good work.
Might go put tomorrow in Indiana. I'm definitely going to try these tips
Gulps are the best flatsided crankbait. Dollar bill or schoolbus. Or cheekbait

Man if Texas would have consistent weather I’d be smoking them. Bites been slow with this bipolar weather but we have been doing good
Very informative, thanks. You didn't say, "Stay tuned, its going to be a good one." though. That seems to be your signature line.
i live in ohio what is the biggest bass you have caught my biggest was this year 6.3lb in lancaster
So , with live scope , you see the fish and keep throwing stuff at it until you catch it ? Sounds like a video game . What does Randy think about it ?

You gave away the secret! They eat the two tapp (red eye shad) and it happens dead sticking it .. man it tears them up
If only I can. Everything is frozen solid.

@@Tbowie13 thanks so much for this response! I'm gonna try it out in Spring. In Michigan, and fish mostly natural lakes...not super deep.
@mikeunger3329 sure thing...good luck. I hope you bang em up! Should work great in shallower water
Where you fishing in OH?
Trouble with knot through microguides on rebellion spinning rod and tatula one also . You said 20 yards? Wow
I wish I could fish in January everything is frozen here in NY lol
All the water around me is frozen still 😢
