Yeah, because Maria’s last phase transformation aoe spams an attack hit box on every frame for like 15 frames. It’s made that way so the player can’t just dash forward through it & hit her right away. The player gets knocked down instantly & won’t ever get hit by more than one tick of the aoe. Orphan though, has shittons of poise & can’t be knocked down... so he tanks all of it. It’s like getting bashed on the head with a hammer 15 times in half a second. lmao

@@dippykumar Orphan got annihilated because the transformation attack hit multiple times assumedly because it couldn't knock him backwards like it does for players. I even slowed down the video and checked myself

I fully expected Kos to take this. That thing's aggression and damage are unmatched. I did not know Maria could do *that* though. Great fight. I always love seeing Maria throw down because she reminds me of DMC's Vergil.
Seriously I know she hits like a truck but that must be a glitch or something
Honestly, she wasn't even that stun-locked. Given the Gherman vs Moon Presence fight, I was expecting a poise made of tissue paper, but she actually dodged a lot of attacks and recovered from staggers relatively quickly.

It also hits multiple times and Kos took it all instead of getting knocked back like your Hunter would, so the damage stacks up by a lot
Also she has double hp, he has the normal amount, probably because in a normal fight she would’ve died way too quickly to even be something

That whole time I kept thinking to myself “Damn, even with a lot more HP Maria can’t keep up with the damage output of the Orphan.”
That AOE attack at point-blank range does incredible damage
And it hits him multiple times. When it hits the player, they’ll get knocked back, preventing multiple hits, but the Orphan can’t get knocked back, so he takes the full brunt of it. So satisfying to see his insane aggression bite him in the butt.
@@chipperdrewski, I once saw a RUclipsr go from 80% health to zero against Maria cause he didn't get knocked down.

You really gotta love how many of these fights play out.
When we had Gehrman VS Orphan, I was rooting for Gehrman, hoping he could atone for the sins of his past. He came close, but yet couldn't... which felt fitting to display just how much of a burden his past was, how it chained him so, he ended up chaining himself to the Hunter's Dream by his deal with the Moon Presence.
And here, against all odds, against all expectations, Maria succeeds where Gehrman didn't, proving that the pupil has indeed surpassed the mentor...
Oh she was german pupil ? No wonder i hated them both , and where did this kos thing came from ( i don't know the lore )
@@unlucky-61 kos is a great one, basically one of the beings that set the events of bloodborne into motion. they can't really give birth except apparently dying in childbirth or through a human surrogate.
It makes no sense lore-wise, Gehrman already killed Orphan in real world if he wasn't even Kos' killer, and i don't think Maria surpassed Gehrman as you said, in-game, both have 14k hp (Gehrman slightly has more health), and they deal almost the same amount of damage, however, we fight Maria at her prime in Hunter's Nightmare, unlike Gehrman who grew too old and lost his right leg (which explains why he can't even run in the fight).
Gehrman lost against Orphan because he didn't even go to his later phases (which would grant him poise), and remember that Maria's explosion hit Orphan multibale times which killed him instantly (due to his poise), that's all.
@@allmasterofficial I don't think Gherman would even care about something like age. Sure he's old that the skills don't get lost no matter the time, at least not until he's 70-80s
@@Replied_ByMeatr1der5 Gehrman is already 80s i believe, and let's assume age doesn't do anything, Gehrman is still more powerful than Maria, or at least can beat her in a fight with his skill & experience, this is one thing, another thing is that his loss in that video makes no sense because he didn't even go to his later phases, at least he gets poise, which is exactly what made him lost, i believe he can defeat Orphan if he goes to his 2nd phase.
The explosion does THAT MUCH?
I think it was a hurtbox glitch where a single attack can hit multiple times, it's seen (in a much milder form) in the ludwig vs ludwig fight where the sword waves hit multiple times
Yet the explosion into her 2nd phase does so little, I was expecting the 3rd one to be stronger but not enough to finish the whole last 1/3 of the orphan’s HP 😅

Maybe it's cause normally Maria's explosion knocks you on your ass away from her, while Orphan of Kos just stood there and took every frame

Lore-wise this is one cool fight. Maria as we know it abandoned the hunters and hunt itself after realizing what she was doing to the poor hamlet villagers was sickening. But she has returned to make amends, to finally free the Orphan of Kos from it's depressing suffering.
The true lore revealed here! From the video with Gherman,he died fighting The Orphan so Maria in sorrow used the blood arts she hated and killed The Orphan,avenging Gherman but somehow e/ven with the sisns Gherman was transferred to the dream and not the nightmare.
PS: I know this all makes no sense cause The Orphan was born after the Burgenwerth massacre and Gherman was transfered by the Presence, let the boy imagine,okay?

IMO, this is definitely the most visually impressive of the fights so far. The fast movements, special effects, and different stages to each boss make it look pretty cool :-P

Well, this certainly had an unexpected result. In fact, I'm curious just how far the damage from that blood explosion can go. If this battle happened again and Maria had her standard health, resulting in the Orphan having more HP when her third phase began, could she still do enough frame damage to kill him? I think this would make for an excellent little follow-up video. I appreciate the work you put into these, and I look forward to more videos!

The funny thing is that ending probably would keep happening if there was another round. The Orphan is too hyper aggressive, he would always be near Maria when she is charging.
