I just found your channel & I’m so glad I did!! I remember seeing a woman on a PBS show a few years ago talking about social security.
My situation.. I was married more than 10 years, been divorced more than 10 years. And I am currently drawing disability.
If I remember correctly the woman on tv said if you were married for more than 10 years & did not remarry you could collect on your ex’s social security if you’re 50 or older & disabled. My ex will be 62 in December and is still working.
Thank You for your service!! 🇺🇸
    Thanks in advance,
    Rosanna M

If there was a claim for disability and full disabilty was determined. There was a LT and short term disability plan at the time of the. Accident which caused loss of ability to work.
The LTD plan took pay back of their monthy pmt for the time they paid and then ssdi qualified a back pay. LTD then stopped benefits until they determined they got all their $$ back.
Then... LTD cancelled before the ss determined retirement age. Is that correct?

Can you talk about widowers born after 1954 filing a Restrictive Application, just only for their deceased spouse's benefit. . Then that widower is allowed to let their SS benefit grow to 70.
If their benefit is bigger at age 70 than their deceased spouses benefit, they can take their own benefit. Is this all true??
Some at SS say no, but I think they are wrong. The benefit was taken away,, but not for widowers.
Can you please comment on this.

Ed, Semper Fi, I am 63 and a veteran with VA medical. I have a small repair business that is a S Corporation. I make a small amount of money per year as payroll and then I take some money as a distribution. I also have a 401K and contribute to it weekly. My main question is If I was to take early SS benefits I would try to stay under the $22,320. Does the distribution money I take from the Repair Bus S corp count torwards the $22,320. Does the contributions torwards the 401k count towards th 22,320. For my wife does rental property income or IRA withdrawals count totowards the $22,320.
    Thanks, Bud F

Hi Dr Weir! I'm so happy to have discovered your channel. If you get an opportunity could you please do a video on dependent child benefits for retirees?
I am currently in the appeals process with the SSA over my dependents monthly amount. The SSA incorrectly based my dependent child benefits on my reduced benefit and not my FRA. With my FRA I'd still be under the Family Max. Thank you!

I got part of ex's benefit at 62, but S.S. says I don't have enough work quarters to get more when I'm 70. Is that correct? Doesn't sound right.

You have to work and pay into SSA for a minimum of 10 years.
