    5800H is currently the price-performance king for the Ryzen APUs.

    I just picked up the trigkey ryzen 7 5800h to get back into a bit of gaming after years off, just finished the first alan Lake on medium settings and currently racked up over 20 hours on RDR2 all medium settings with texture on high and it runs smoothly and looks awesome, yes I'm only running it at 60fps on 1080p but like i said I'm getting back into gaming and coming from ps3 lol and i haven't built a gaming machine since 2003! I can't recommend the trigkey enough, so far so good and above my expectation, i paid $569 aud for the 1tb with 32gb version

    Why didnt you compare the Ser5 with the Trigkey 5800H? They are basically the same specs and the Trigkey is nearly 100 dollars cheaper.

      Obviously different supplies have the ability to buy/store more, so can sell cheaper

    I picked up one of the 12th Gen alder lake N100 based units from Trigkey for $200 CDN, which was super cheap at the time... but serious regrets over not getting an AMD version instead. It seems like the mini PC market is split right now between ultra low power Intel models and actually decent performance AMD models. The Intel one makes a nice replacement for a Raspberry Pi, but the AMD one seems better for power users.

    • @EVOTech1
      @EVOTech1  10 месяцев назад +3

      Yeah intel really doesn’t seem to want to get price competitive in the mini PC market. So much so that they would rather kill off their NUC line and let their partners fight it out in the price to performance category. The cheapest non Alder lake N series mini PC with intel currently available is the Minisforum UN1245. That’s got a 8C/12T cpu, so you’d expect it to be pretty decent. But at its stock TDP it does worse than AMD systems at the same price. It’s biggest selling points are the very good single core performance and the inclusion of intel quick sync. The iGPU is also a cut down model tho, so not even going to be in the same ball park as AMD. Unless you need that intel single threaded performance or that better support for hardware acceleration, I just don’t think intel has anything competitive with AMD right now. Certainly not in price at least. Hopefully meteor lake evens things out. I prefer when both companies are very competitive since we get better products.

      @@EVOTech1 Maybe Meteor Lake. As of now, the Alder Lake units make fine TV PCs for playing browser content I guess

    I’ve been using the SER5 Max to play Minecraft with my 5 yo. 1440p 100 fps (forget how many chunks MC is set to) while he uses my 13900k, 64GB ram, 4070ti 😂. I haven’t really pushed it but I might fool with the TDP and see what she can do.

    • @EVOTech1
      @EVOTech1  9 месяцев назад +2

      Those are interesting if you want something targeting a lower TDP but still has good core density, since it would be 25w but with 8 zen2 cores. if performance is something you care about, the price difference between 5700u and 5800h systems is low enough that I would just go with the 5800h. higher base tdp, anywhere from 45W to 57W depending on exact model you get, and a higher overall clock speed on the CPU and iGPU make it a better option for what is usually around a 20-40 dollar difference.if the difference is greater than that, the savings of the 5700U end up being far more compelling.

    What the hell is Zen 2/3?

    • @pravinsmart
      @pravinsmart 10 месяцев назад +6

      It is the CPU Architecture. Here are some differences between the Zen 2 and Zen 3 architectures:
      Core complex: Zen 3 has a single core complex (CCX) with 8 CPU cores and 32 MB of shared L3 cache. Zen 2 has two CCXs, each with 4 cores and 16 MB of L3 cache.
      Performance: Zen 3 has a higher boost frequency and faster access to a larger cache.
      L3 cache latency: Zen 3 has reduced average L3 cache latencies.
      Layout: Zen 3 has a new layout with all 8 cores having access to the entire 32 MB of L3 cache.
      Other changes Zen 3 has:
      Reduced FMA latency from 5 to 4 cycles
      Increased integer physical register file from 180 to 192 entries
      Increased load throughput from 2 to 3, if not 256b
