Just discovering Alison Moyet. Really good music! I knew Guy Sigsworth from Frou Frou, so I decided to give Moyet's work with him a listen. Very, very good stuff that is unique in itself. "Minutes" is an excellent album that is nice to discover for this new fan.

As a huge collector of music from 1968 until this very day I have never understood how and why singers like "Alison Moyet." and this song "Love Resurrection." was not a huge top Ten hit for months?? People love to make "Celine Dion & Barbara Streisand." The best and well known singers while the "Alison Moyet's." of of our times never even get noticed?? Let me also say that this trend of loving the super famous singers instead of the "Alison Moyet's." of our time is very strange to me. I mean can someone out there tell me the exact reason for this sad crazy insanity in the first place? I already know that I will not get a answer because I rarely do. I guess everyone else is just like me, That don't understand it either so therefore they can't answer the question? Anyway. Thank God for the handful of people that do understand how great her voice and her music really is.
If you check the facts. Alison Moyet is a massive crowd pleaser in the UK. She is well respected as an artist and the only artist I have ever really invested the time and money to be at every concert and buy her albums. Her latest album spent about 6 weeks at number 1. Her singles may not get as much in terms or airplay (except in my car and on RUclips), but know she is a national treasure of the UK. The reason all the new poppettes of today get more attention is because there is so many out there without an inkling of talent but they look good and they are manufactured artists. Something Alison is not. She doesn’t listen to music for trends to market her musicality. She, instead does her own thing, her own way. I think you are wrong about Barbra and Celina. They too, are extremely amazing singers who deserve the credit they get. Alison is unique in her own way and that will only appeal to a certain demographic. A demographic who appreciate raw talent from an artist who does not exploit her fans. Instead she appreciates them. I hope this goes some way to answering your question. Love Alison for who she is, not what you would like her to be. She is so not mainstream and should never be again and that’s what makes her a special artist in the world of music.
