Saxophonist Art Kassel and his ''Kassels in the Air'' were a staple on the Chicago music scene for more than thirty years. Debuting in 1924 at the Midway Gardens the group later spent a 15-year engagement at the Bismark Hotel and frequented both the Aragon and Trianon ballrooms, where it received national radio exposure. In the late 1950s Kassel moved to the West Coast, where he appeared for two years with his orchestra on a local television program, The Gloria Hart Show. Though in its early years the band boasted such jazz artists as Benny Goodman, Bud Freeman, and Mugsy Spanier, Kassel switched to sweet music during the 1930s. This latter orchestra was never very impressive, though it had an extremely loyal following. Recording for RCA Victor, vocalists were Norman Ruvell, Thal Taylor, Billie Leach, Harvey Crawford, Grace Dunn, Marian Holmes, Jimmy Featherstone, and a three-piece vocal group, the Kassel Trio. After Kassel's death in 1965 the orchestra continued to perform West Coast engagements.

Martin Lewis (7 June 1881 - 1962) was an Australian-born American etcher. Lewis was born in Castlemaine, Victoria, Australia on 7 June 1881. He was the second of eight children and had a passion for drawing. At the age of 15, he left home and traveled in New South Wales, Australia, and in New Zealand, working as a post hole digger and a merchant seaman. He returned to Sydney and settled into a Bohemian community outside Sydney. Two of his drawings were published in the radical Sydney newspaper, The Bulletin. He studied with Julian Ashton at the Art Society's School in Sydney. Ashton, a famous painter, was also one of the first Australian artists to take up printmaking. In 1900, Lewis left Australia for the United States. His first job was in San Francisco, painting stage decorations for William McKinley's presidential campaign of 1900. By 1909, Lewis was living in New York, where he found work in commercial illustration. His earliest known etching is dated 1915. However, the level of skill in this piece suggests he had been working in the medium for some time previously. It was during this period that he helped Edward Hopper learn the basics of etching. In 1920, after the breakup of a romance, Lewis traveled to Japan, where for two years he drew and painted and studied Japanese art. The influence of Japanese prints is very evident in Lewis's prints after that period. In 1925, he returned to etching and produced most of his well-known works between 1925 and 1935 Lewis's first solo exhibition in 1929 was successful enough for him to give up commercial work and concentrate entirely on printmaking.Lewis is most famous for his black and white prints, mostly of night scenes of non-tourist, real life street scenes of New York City. During the Depression, however, he was forced to leave the city for four years between 1932 and 1936 and move to Newtown, Connecticut. His work from this period includes a number of rural, night-time and winter scenes in this area and nearby Sandy Hook. When Lewis was able to return to the New York City in 1936, there was no longer a market interested in his work. He taught printmaking at the Art Students League of New York from 1944 until his retirement in 1952. Lewis died largely forgotten in 1962.[1]

    Once too often
I'll get the go-by once too often
I'm gettin' mighty sick and tired
Of totin' a torch for you.
    So just be careful brother,
    I too, can find another,
    remember, anything that you do,
    I can do too.
    Once too often
you're gonna slip up once too often
And then you'll have to change your tune
And sing in a different key
That line that you've been usin'
    Will cease to be amusin'
    It's gonna boomarang
When you come looking for me.
Say, you're a wizard when it comes to cryin'
A master in the art of "alibi-ing"
Go on and do your tall and fancy lyin', baby,
But! You will say you're sorry
    Once too often
    You're gonna weep but
    I won't soften
You're gonna whimper like a pup
The day I catch up with you
Step out, go on and show off.
Some night, the lid will blow off
You're gonna give my heart the business
    Once too often!

*_"A master of intaglio, Martin Lewis’s prints are characterized by the interplay of dark and light, evoking a film noir style that radiates an authentic New York City energy. The Australian-born artist spent much of his life in the United States, working as a commercial artist before devoting himself full-time to printmaking. Lewis incorporated elements of impressionism and tonalism, and his drypoint prints and graphite drawings elevate mundane city scenes, capturing both small moments of solitude and bustling crowds. A seminal figure in the graphic arts of the 1930s, Lewis is regarded as one of the best printmakers of the 20th century, but he is largely unknown due to the small production runs of his works."_*

Yes, I am related to Martin Lewis. I also saw that the titles of some of your other video's, considering the alphabet that was used, I had a feeling that you were from Russia, or Belarus, or Ukraine. I am surprise to see someone taken the time and effort from your part of the world because from what I understand, Martin Lewis was an artist that wasn't famous in the wider world, but known by a small, but sizable segment in the art world. I live in Adelaide, South Australia, roughly 550 kilometers from Martin's birth place, Castlemaine, Victoria. My dad side of the family always had an artistic side, either with calligraphy, and or ad photography. However only Martin had a chance to make a living out of it with his paintings and printmaking. How is life in Russia?

That is okay for not remembering. I am sadden to say that I know very little of Martins life my self, other than what is found on his Wikipedia page. From I seen of his work, he was good at what he did. Do you have an Instagram account? For me, I have been taking photo's my self to continue the artistic side of my family, I have been told that I am good, but I feel that I have a long way to go before I feel that I am any good. So if like to see them, and if you have an Instagram account, you are more than welcome to follow me, I go by robin_lewis_photographerofhack
