- Happy new year! A cold walk in Xi'an
Officially on my winter holidays now - so 2 months off work! Before getting back to the history, culture and travel, this video is just a walk through a nice part of Xi'an called Qujiang District and a chat about 2020, and some of my plans for the next month or so! My mouth was almost frozen during this video...hope you can still understand me! Hope you enjoy!
What I hate is not the discussion of China's shortcomings, But the double standard that is so evident in the West.
Yep, its totally insane
In reality , no matter whatever China does , no matter what or how , the western media and Endia will always find a way to put an negative spin to it .
Come on , you know it's TRUE
Happy New Year
Stay well and stay safe
Sincerely from the AWESOME revolution

That is a brave decision to spend a month with the Wudang kung-fu masters. Will be an unusual experience. What a way to start 2021! Good luck with everything!
Thank you, i'm really looking forward to it. Happy new year! All the best for 2021!
Such a clear day in Xi’an, which is rare in winter.
Yes, it is not like that today! Pretty grey and dull.
so freakin’ clean
Your trip into the elements to challenge yourself sounds amazing mate. See you when you get back!
Cheers Josh, ill keep you posted while im there!
Great video, thks for tell us about China
That’s a great plan to go live in the mountains for a month and practice Taiji.
I think so too! I can't wait!
I used to work in the city of Shiyan, very close to Wudang mountains. You'll love it there. The air is so clean and cold haha. I now live in Xi'an and I miss that place.
Enjoy your stay there, man. Take some very warm clothes with you
Thanks, and yeh...i have plenty of warm stuff. It's not as cold as in Xi'an though!
Happy 2021, buddy. Xi'an is a place I will never forget in my life.
Happy New Year man! Can't wait to see your upcoming adventures. Love the history and knowledge you bring.
Thanks very much...i feel like it might be a while before i can upload another video though
@@nickinchina2552 indeed.... I'm sure Wudang will be an interesting experience. Hopefully you'll get to explore around there and show us!
I am very excited and look forward to seeing your forthcoming episodes at Wudang mountain. It's the land of Taoist 仙人(fairy)。 Who knows, instead of just losing a few pounds of excess fat, you might get incredibly lucky and find the way to immortality!
Thanks Jeff, im super excited to go. It may be sometime before i can upload another video though :(
@@nickinchina2552 are you going to shoot videos of your life in Wu Dang. That would be very interesting!
Hi Nick, once you are back from Wudang mountain, if you find Taoist practice interesting, you can read up on a book by “Road to Heaven” (or 空谷幽兰 in Chinese) by Bill Porter. The book is about Bill’s experience in 1990 in Zhongnanshan(终南山) , which is know to be hermit’s retreat for hundreds of years, and is near Xi’an! This book also helped in China’s renewed interests in hermitage. However, it’s probably not advisable to visit Zhongnanshan for “sightseeing” because these hermits really don’t want to be disturbed.
Happy New Year! Nick, hope you enjoy your holiday in Wudang mountain and become a TaiJi master. There are less than 60 persons died of covid in Vietnam, Britain has fewer population than Vietnam, but UK has more than 75000 death related covid so far (on 3rd January 2021). Inside supermarket and lot of indoor place, there are still lots of persons do not wear face masks. Dominic Cummings had to drive a long journey to the castle for his eye test during the lockdown,,,,, What you can say , man.......
ergh.... Dominic Cummings. These people are the root of the problem
Happy new year! Looking forward to your tai chi vids. I'm sure they'll be super cool!
2 months holiday,that's awsome
Happy New Year! Nice reflection on 2020.
Please do not be fooled by the sunny pictures, poor Nick is walking in bitterly cold air. I hope he could finish the vid quickly, and get back inside the house where it is warm enough to wear a shirt.
My face was freezing during this video! haha. The coffee saved me at the end
After watching your Gansu video, I plan to go there in the near future.
Oh you should! I would go back in a heartbeat - the south in particular was fascinating
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us Nick.
No probs! Thanks for watching, i just took a pretty long break from video making - but, finally back. I see your channel is still doing great! Nice work man
Happy new year. 2020 is definetely an eyeopening year.
Good job
Tks for your honesty, you re in China so you can tell what wesetern medias show is mostly crap on political purse. Wish you Iots of success in Wudang mountain and happy 2021 year of 🐂
Great to hear that you want to learn Tai Chi in Wudang ..btw Xian look great from your video.
Xi'an is great! Hope you could visit sometime!
Ahhhhh nice video dude! Can't wait to see those tai chi videos. What's weird is that I didn't even get notified for your upload. RUclips is nuts it seems.
Yeh, some youtube weirdness. Hope you are doing ok buddy, and as always...hope you can get back sometime soon
Look forward to seeing some of your videos in Wudang!!!
Happy year of 2021! enjoy your videos, expecting more. Thanks.
Wish you have a great new year, Nick.
I like your videos.
2 months off... I should get a job teaching at a university
It's the best haha
I love nanhu park! Living right next to it and my family take a walk almost every evening there.
It’s hard to avoid getting weight when you are easily access to 油泼面,biangbiang面,泡馍 and 水盆羊肉 every day. As Xi’aner, we all know that. Enjoy the trip to Mount Wu Dang and happy new year!
Nice video!
happy new🐂year!2021
Loved all the red lanterns hanging in the bare trees as you walked around and looking forward to seeing some footage from your time on the mountain. Happy New Year.
Hey Obi wan Nick, Taichi aside, try learn Taichi Sword (太極劍) at Wudang Mountain.
(ruclips.net/video/_3gNGtMPCRY/видео.html )
That would be soooo cool, and you'll finally get sth to do back in Xian parks lol
And happy new year!
Wudang Sword is superb, not sure im up to that yet though haha
My grandma is leading a group of ppl practicing taichi or taichi sword(in some rare case) in Qujiangyizhi park lol
Happy 2021. Hope no more pandemic.
totally agree, this psuedo cold war is so damaging to the ppl, hope 2021 it will change for the better
When you come down from the mountain, first video needs to include a 1 handed handstand please.
then fire laser beams out of my eyes
I started studying / practicing Taiji this year as well, and I love it......
The air quality looks good.
Yeh, was a beautiful day. Not so nice now however...grey and a bit polluted :(
@@nickinchina2552
Turn on the air purifier :)
Xi'an is one of my favourite places I've visited. :D I only visited on a 3-day weekend, so I can't wait to go back! I missed this park when I went, so it's now on the list of places to check out when I return!
Yeh, it's a great place - i enjoy living here a lot.
Happy new year 🎊
Happy New Year, Nick. Great video this is, so touch with the world. Wudsng Shan - you're living my dream! George Thompson s Wudang based and he did a lot of videos from Wudang so you ll be fine. Love watching your videos. Now the Covid's really bad in. The UK and I do pray this stupid cold War will end and we gat China to help us beat the Covid. Peace ion earth is our survival. I'm so glad you're safe and free to travel in China.
Happy new year Anne! and thanks for your lovely comments, it means a lot. Stay safe and i hope you have a great 2021!
Happy New Year Nick
Happy new year Nick!
期待武当山之旅!最近有疫情零星反弹,也要做好防护哇
Nick, it is so funny, before I watched this video I have the impression of you will like 道家文化 from your previous videos, then in the middle of this video, you talked about going to 武当! Happy New Year and Thanks for showing Xi'An, my hometown!
GREAT . HAPPY NEW YEAR
Hello Nick we hope all is well. we just wanted to wish you a very Happy New Year may it be filled with many blessings and much happiness. and of course Some great content :) Stay safe Love and Light Sarah and Glenn
Happy New Year! Hope you have a good trip.
Happy new year 2021 Nick.
Keep up the cool works
Nice video and Happy New Year!
Just to be aware the Taoist "Religion" is quite different than the Taoist philosophy. The 道教 is just a business LOL。
Nick, Happy New Year 2021 🎉
Happy New Year. Wonder if wld b cold at Wudang doing taichi outdoors. Looking fwd to yr sharing on the taichi experience.
Happy New year Nick,
Don't worry about the uploads, enjoy your retreat. I'd swap the weather with you, its about 30deg C here in NZ and I'm a cold weather guy!
Happy new year to you Nick. Best wishes from London.
Miss Xi'an :( but not the pollution :) . Hope you're well Nicko x
Happy New Year, Nick!
2020. What a year! A year that future historians will refer to as a “dark time”.
The crap churned out by the western media this year has been eye opening. Sometimes it makes you wonder who's living in an imaginary world, you or them :D
Regarding the weight gain, I share your frustration as I've also put on a lot of weight over the year. So losing weight is my New Year's resolution, but not to the extent of going to the Wudang Mountains to learn TaiChi for a month :) Blimey, that's going to be tough! Really admire your courage. I'm sure you'll rise to the challenge and come out of the other side, being a better self mentally and physically.
Best of luck!
I think kids in 100 years will be learning about this pandemic, looking at pictures of people protesting masks and other such insane things and realise just how stupid people were in 2020 haha.
Happy new year Jessica, and all the best for 2021!
You was lucky, you flew away from the madness that was going to happen two month later in the UK.
When you said it’s cold I was thinking ahhh it’ll be like 3c or something but you’ve gotten used to the Chinese climate, then you said -7c 😂 yeah that’s cold but it doesn’t look it, clear blue skies and the sun is shining and you’ve lovely surroundings, London right now, grey sky raining on and off and 5c but feels like 1c 😏 yeah you’re lucky 😂
Happy New Year Nick. All the best to you and your family. I would said I am impress that you are going to live in Wudang Mountain for a month. I hope you can find wisdom, inner peace and clarity. This will help you in the future. In the mean time, stay safe buddy!
Thank you very much indeed, and happy new year. I hope that Wudang gives me the positive start to the year i hope for. All the best, and stay safe!
Happy new year Nick, I am currently staying at home in England and watching your video from my hometown, thank you very much.

where did you go? Nick. The video looks great.
China is so clean
Happy New Year. Not many people out and about. Staying indoors in the warm?
Yeh, it was damn cold, crisp, winter days are probably my favourite type of days
@@nickinchina2552 They wouldn't let me hire a bike to ride on the wall, because I'm over 65! Health and Safety!

Thanks, and im now back after a long break. Hope you keep watching!
Xi'an is a beautiful place to be. Hope you will enjoy your time in Xi'an.
Nick, are you still able to go to Wudang? Is the recent resurge in COVID changing anything?
Hi there, been a crazy year but i am back.First Wudang video out now!
What is the name of this lake please?
is master Gu whom you go to in Wudang Moutain?
No, it was master Chen Shiyu, new video up now!!
😝
Really nice 👌 😍💋 💝💖❤️
You’ve been gone for a long time…
I know :( Im sorry, life got on top of me
Nick, your work visa is one year old. Do you need to go back?
I renew my visa in Xi'an each year. Don't need to leave
@@nickinchina2552 You don't need to go back to renew your visa. That's great.
Hi Nick, on the clip 12:00 or when you are walking...why there is no body around? is the city on lock down?
I believe it was due to the freezing weather😊
No lockdown here, it was just super cold...and not in central Xi'an.
Happy 2021 I surely started great! (Not)
Happy new year! And stay safe!
I wouldn't call Tai Chi a "martial art". It's not really effective as a martial art when comparing it to other real martial arts, you know the names, especially the modern full contact combined sports used in "cage fighting". In Tai Chi the form/style prevales above the effectivity. It's more like Yoga, so it's very healthy but I wouldn't call Yoga a "martial art" either.
It is actually pilates, ie. a form of physical exercise routines. No longer a martial art at all.
johnsamu Don't let the slow move of Tai Chi fool you. This art can kill in a combat. Aikido is a branch from this ancient art.
@@gloriagloria5377 One of my ex collegues was and stil is a Tai Chi teacher (here in the Netherlands) and when I was young I did some karate. The most effective styles are the most ugly and simple styles. Tai Chi is very good for body and health but as a fighting/martial arts sport it's not the best. The Shaolin style kung fu (to give just one example) is better as a real martial art. But like many things it really depends on the practioner and the circumstances. You can even knock out Mike Tyson when he's not expecting it (when he's asleep😉)
It is a martial art, my former taiji instructor spent a lot of time practicing the martial aspects of the style. I just think a lot of taiji has now been watered down to a purely health related system. Depends on the teacher and school....and style of taiji
I need boyfriend 💋💋💋💋💋💞💞💞💞
Thank you western media for all the childhood fairytales about China.
I first came to China thinking that all women were rice farmers and all guys kung fu masters, walking around with nunchakus!
Happy New Year Nick.
