You spoke of William Morris as a current designer... he died in the late 1800's. His designs are complex, intricate, balanced, timeless and actually from the Victorian Era in England.
I loved learning about the sweedish "B" brand above (which I'm now going to dive in further on) so I thought some might like to learn about Morris too.

I’ve had a lot of wallpaper in my house, and I’ve taken down a lot of wallpaper. Once it is up, you’re stuck with it for a long time due to the amount of work and expense. It can be very beautiful, but as the years have gone by, I like the versatility and convenience of paint.

I love the choice you’ve made. It does stop the eye, & adds a warmth to the space. A very pretty addition, indeed. I’d be cautious though about over doing it. Adding wallpaper to bedrooms, or a powder room, or some wainscoting in the eating area in the kitchen would be nice. I personally wouldn’t want too much of it in multiple rooms on the same floor. On the other hand…. I say you do you. It’s your home, and it’s lovely. Do what pleases your eye, & makes you happy. I enjoy watching how other folks go through their design choices. I’m just along for the ride. 🙂

Haha I was just commenting that my dad had a wall covering business in the 80s- early 2000s. The paisley border women used to want was hilarious. I am traumatized by it now. 😂 and I had tweety bird border when I was little. Hahaha

Wallpaper will never go out of fashion, what went out of fashion were papers with hideous designs. Wallpaper done properly is not trendy but classic instead. Your home is absolutely perfect for wallpaper, it adds charm and warmth. Your choices are spot on, I am glad you are keeping the designs subtle. Word of warning, it becomes addictive 😅🤣😂

The wallpapers you selected are very pretty. My fave is the one selected for the bedroom. It’s light and more subtle. The rest, on a feature wall, or 1/2 wall in a room to give your eyes a place to rest. Wallpaper in every room, there’s no “white space” for the eye to land and the designs start to compete w each other. I say, sit with it for a while before you jump into doing all your rooms. Maybe add a new paint color in adjacent rooms instead?

William Morris started the transition from fabric to wallpaper on the walls to cover the smoke and grime that always collected in British homes. It is fascinating research.

I know that you thrift,do you think you would look for wooden frames, like oak,for a more vintage look? Especially now that you have that beautiful vintage looking paper as a background? Also,a tip for putting nail holes in wallpaper, cut a small “vee” with an exacto knife, peel back and bang in the nail. If you ever change your mind, pull out the nail and glue the “vee” back in place. 🥰

My dad owned a painting and wall covering business since the 80s and closed it down around 2008. It’s funny to see it coming back. I used to go on job sites with him and women wanted the 90s paisley print 🤣 i keep telling him to make a channel to give tips and pointers because it’s coming back around 😂 he just did a faux leather wall for my brothers ranch house and it looks awesome. I personally love wallpaper but it can either make a house look timeless or outdated depending on how it’s down. You did a fantastic job keeping it classic. Love the green so much!

Great video! Wallpaper is timeless and in an older house it goes perfectly and is useful in covering failing plaster! And once you get used to doing it, is extremely easy to do and fast. And with the new peel and stick type becoming more and more common, extremely easy to put up and take down! In our old house every room had wallpaper !( 110 yo farmhouse) I swear it was hold the walls up!

Wallpaper isn’t timeless, nothing is. For the last 10-15 years people have been removing wallpaper. Now people are tiring of simple paint and moving back to wallpaper. Everything is cyclical. That being said, wallpaper is very in right now and will be around for the next 10-15 years so it’s not a bad choice. But it’s not timeless, unfortunately.

      @judyoneal7887 2 года назад

Yes! This is key to being able to remove the wallpaper in the future without ruining the plaster or sheetrock. It makes all the difference. Take the time & do it right or insist your contractor do it right. I had to remove wallpaper in a powder room after some termite damage was repaired in an outside wall. It was a nightmare. Whoever papered that room had not primed the walls first & I finally gave up & hired a sheetrock guy to skim over the damage I caused, then skim over the rest of the room. Never again. Prime the walls, then paper them.

Love the idea but I would be careful not to overdo it, especially with a house filled with young children. With paint it's easy to just wipe the wall and re-paint it to freshen it up, but with wallpaper I don't know if it would hold up well.
I would maybe try in just one place and see how it feels 🙂

It’s good to use patterns with different scales. Also, not all floral. Perhaps a dot or stripe might work. I know you are planning for these to flow… but, I feel your choices, although all beautiful on there own, will look a bit dull together.

I have wallpaper throughout my house. Some rooms go into others and I had been stuck trying to decide how to transition them without too stark of a contrast. A designer friend of a friend told me to transition easily all you have to do is either pick up the pattern or the color from one room going to the next. I did that and it transitions beautifully. My living room is cream with texture and it goes into my eating area where I chose the cream background but a pattered print. I used a warm custard color in my dining room with texture and wainscoting the same color as the woodwork in the living room and all the moulding is the same from one room to the next, so they all look really nice looking through the doors from one room to the next.

I love wallpaper and think your choices are beautiful and timeless. I've got lots of great inspiration from 'How to renovate a chateau' on you tube. She even hand prints some of her own wallpaper ! I think in large older homes wallpaper gives a fullness to a room. Sometimes we feel like we have to keep bringing things into a room to get it to look just right, when a wallpaper seems to complete a room, even if the wallpaper is just for a feature wall or in a small area. A simple mirror added makes the room look elegant and welcoming. Great video. We're trying to sell our old home at the moment, so new adventures await me too :). Blessings to you Lisa ~ Linda

I LOVE a the green in the stairway! I have always been told that green brings life to a space as it is the color of nature. This is a great way to do that in a room that you cannot add it otherwise.

Gorgeous! We bought a house two years ago that the seller had painted the entire interior in the same gray color. It was good for resale as I believe the whole house had wallpaper or some other meh color, but I’m over the gray everywhere and would love to put up some wallpaper in a few places, just to add interest!

Love these! I would select a solid paint color for the room in the middle, so that your eye sees wallpaper, a solid color, then wall paper. Just to break it up a bit. But really love these and am inspired now! I’d been considering wall paper in a couple areas of my home but was hesitant!

I love wallpaper! Fifteen years ago, when we were restoring our 1910 home, I was choosing wallpaper for some rooms. I was talking to the painter and he was unpleasantly surprised I wanted to use wallpaper. I told him wallpaper was coming back into style and he didn’t believe me. Haha! Here it is now, all in style. I also used it in my last home in the 80s and 90s.
