Pirates of the Caribbean: the scenes in which the Black Pearl crew passes under moonlight and turn into skeletons. Also the fight with Jack Sparrow and Barbosa, when both become partially skeleton only on the parts of the body that are under moonlight. That was so absolutely well done! Sometimes I feel people forget how well made the Pirates of the Caribean trilogy was
I've been waiting for them to do this one for so long!
Also, they are some of the most expensive movies ever made, so would be interesting to compare their cgi to something cheaper
@@andrewpackham8236 Indeed it would!
Haven't they already made a video talking about that effect?
@@olacolega7067 I want to say it was Davey Crockett.
“District 9” cost $30 million and “Jack and Jill” cost $79 million let that sink in
Most of that probably went to the actors, cuz Adam Sandler alone was probably 20+ mil
Adam Sandler doesn't make movies, he just films his vacations.
Half of that budget probably went into Al Pacino doing that Dunkaccino segment.
That is nothing. Paranormal activity had a budget of 15k but made almost 200 mil.
@@mzilber1 You're comparing a film to a money-laundering operation though
District 9 creatures were also very realistic for me because of the strands hanging from the mouth, they were so naturally moving. Very dark movie indeed.
One of my favorite movies of all time because of how realistic it is
@@eggsalad3316 ye, not an easy to watch movie, but this was a director cart blanche movie. And it shows
District 9 is a MASTERPIECE. I still want a sequel so badly.
ya lol district 10 maybe?
Well, it’s 2023 now and still no sequel :(
6 months after that.
Nothing
@@RKroese i read somewhere, blompkamp said the writing is almost done, but that was long time ago, maybe its in production?
we still waiting, peter jackson is a fucking legend he will do one more master piece I bet
Suggestion: the shot from Pirates of The Caribbean 2 where the Kraken smashes the ship in half
Edit: since there’s an actual possibility that the people at Corridor Crew might see this now, I’d love an entire Pirates of The Caribbean centered episode if that’s something you might consider
Also I don't know if they have yet, but harry Potter would be cool
The only cg in that is the Kraken. The ship was split practically with giant tubes dropping on it
@@sadkid15 I know, that’s why I thought it would be interesting to look at
Yes saw it today bro its nice
The whole series they had some great cgi and sfx
Andrew Kramer is the reason why I got into After Effects software. He is a legend.

everything started with him
Is that Adobe?
@@gabrielvermund yes

The THX logo used to always scare the shit out of me as a kid
Fuck, the logo’s broken
it’s so ominous bro
Same. Mostly because the first time I saw it was before ET and that movie (particularly the intro) scared the shit out of 5 or 6 year old me. Now I just associate it with ET and how scared that made me feel.
Same, I hated it every time
When district 9 came out I think I was in middle school still and I was like "this is the pinnacle of CG in movies", for how mind blowingly real it looked. I remember thinking it was all uphill from here, yet I don't think any of thing recent has lived up to it (maybe the mandalorian?). Marvel movies are good, but still look so cartoony by comparison.
yeah especially the marvel films.
True
If I learned anything it’s that *if you’re constrained by time or budget it’s fine using stock elements.*
Of course it’s fine! That’s what every VFX company does in the world. It’s not cheating to use existing stock elements. But I personally prefer to use them in ways that they aren’t always vanilla and recognizable
That's exactly how websites are made too! You make 1 really good website, and then you reference it and take bits and pieces for years later!
@@Guffy1990 Don’t forget about all the open source npm packages

Everyone one of these episodes go by so quick! I get excited for a new one and sad that its over
Wut, did not expect you here! Btw big fan bruv!
So true 😭😭😭
They've shortened them to about 15 min, down from 20+
And they drown the videos with sponsors AND ads.

Suggestion: Men in Black - 1997 - "Edgar" pulling his face back and saying: "There, is that better?"
Got straight up butterflies when i saw they were going to talk about District 9. One of my all time favorite movies.
these episodes could be an hour long I literally wouldn't mind
They real should do some documentary length stuff - a whole series of the history of CGI would be awesome. I smell a crowdfunding project...
“There’s no way that’s one project file.” is just so hilarious lmfao
why
@@oldgrub It's funny if you do vfx, or understand how vfx are done. It's because doing that in one project file would absolutely kill your computer, and take SO LONG to render.
Tshirt quote 😆
@@TheFrozenFlame05 not only that, but if the file corrupts your screwed. Which is why saving on multiple different versions (Files) is beneficial.
@@TheFrozenFlame05 Though with bid productions some use render farms to share the load and render things MUCH faster.
“Legend of The Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole” directed by Zack Snyder, 2010, day 22.

Seconded
That was directed by Zack Snyder!?!
Facts
@@Necromancer0225 yup he made a children's movie
I would really like it if these guys could do a bit of the movie "9" it's such a odd animated movie with some interesting character designs
Man that movie was so freaky.
The best part about Hollywood overusing CGi is that Corridor Crew will always have plenty of bad & great CGi to react to.
Normal people reacting to bad TV CGi: Ew, WTF?
VFX Artists: Understandable✌️
most people fail to realize how low the budget and time constraints are for those. in reality some go a little too ambitious. Some with HUGE budgets like Game of Thrones still look movie quality.
they have more understanding
I give cheap and lazy effects shit but sometimes it's not even the VFX Artist fault. The the producer or director can come in and say "I want this monster for this much time, and this much money." And the VFX Artist's job to try and do it under those constraints.
I want to see more episodes with Andrew, that guy is a legend
Nikos reactions at Andrew's THX video is so awesome. You can tell he really loves what he does
Easily one of the best channels on RUclips.
Im biased, but I'd love some deconstruction of Spider-Man swinging throughout the movies. Talking about the physics, lighting, and how it's done has evolved.
Also, some fan made Dragonball Z films like Light of Hope and Fall of Men would be awesome.
I literally just finished watching my friend watches mandolorian season 2
Holden dont watch nukie or mac and me they are unwatchable movies 😊📼

New action essentials!! Finally! Thank you Andrew I started learning VFX from you 12 years ago and I owe almost everything I know to you
LOVE this channel!!! And Andrew Kramer is a God! We used his tutorials a bunch back in 2012 for a sci-fi short....
The camera movement in District 9, reacting to the aliens movement in a very realistic way is also a big reason why it looks so good.
"Andrew... basically taught everyone how to do visual effects"
I think that's pretty accurate 🤣🤣🤣
Awesome! Love that you talked about District 9!!!! Please consider doing Constantine!
I haven't thought about district 9 for sooo long. I am definitely going to watch it again this weekend. it's an amazing movie.
Andrew was such a great teacher and inspiration. I owe a lot of my start on RUclips and my knowledge of After Effects to him. Happy to see you guys collab again!
Nice
Suggestion: The black lake scene from Harry potter and the Goblet of Fire.
(Maybe do whole episode on Harry Potter like you did for LOTR and Star Wars)
I would love to see practical effects performed on this channel! Thanks for another great vid!
Yeah they need to get a shop and some craftspeople but cgi and vfx really is also the integration of those elements and stitching it together. Not everything is generated it in the computer or just your on set production plates!
The man the myth the legend! I remember calling Video Copilot in 2007. One ring and Andrew picks up. Epic.
Most annoying overused element to me: the sound of rusted metal squeak when opening any gate or metal door.
Or that one metal bang sound that I mostly remember from Half-Life 2. I swear I hear it everywhere.
That generic group of children laughing sound effect drives me crazy
Darth Biomech i think i heard that exact one in happy wheels as well
Thought you were going to say the metal scrape noise that happens every time someone unsheathes a sword
@@ZachBobBob yes i actually hate that so much
VFX is easy. Its like riding a bike except the bike hasn't rendered yet.
Andrew Kramer merece un premio Nobel, le dió de comer por años a miles de artistas VFX en el mundo.
The content on this channel is incredible!
There's this Norwegian indie horror film called Trollhunter, which has some really nice creature effects! It would be really cool to see it broken down!
Duuuude yes!
I watched that here in China with some girls from work who became convinced it was real - either that's some amazing VFX, or some dumbass co-workers :-)
@@rhymingreason yeah, It really is well done.... To me, in terms of plot and execution, it might be the best found footage film I've ever seen, and really well done for such a low budget!
TROOOOOOOOOOOLL!
Love this movie!
RUclips is getting real comfortable with those unskippable double ads
I hate them lol
Heres a tip to avoid ads in the video. Skip to the end, and hit replay. It gets rid of all the ads
@@kyle45887 yanno I actually knew about that tip and forgot about it haha thank you for reminding me
I actually find premium to be great value.
@@kyle45887 You just gave RUclips's executives some ideas.
Wow! I had the same feelings when hearing Andrew Kramer's voice on After effects tutorials! Glad to watch this episode!!
It be cool to see yall break down the walking with dinosaurs documentaries, or just old documentaries in general.
Seeing the zoom out from inside the THX along with hearing the sound, and how the sound kicked up once you could tell that you were looking at a THX made it feel like a smash reveal or something, and it gave me chills.
Andrew Kramer is amazing! Thanks for all you do
“Legend of The Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole” directed by Zack Snyder, 2010, day 26. I’M STILL HERE MOVIE LOVERS.
District 9 was such an awesome movie. The vfx sold me as a viewer and I was so emotionally invested in the story. Still one of my favorite movies to this day.
New video idea: Overused visual effects elements in movies and tv.

That remade THX Animation starting around 8:28 is THE BEST work of art in CGI I have ever seen
You guys should definitely react to “Love Death + Robots”
They already have I'm pretty sure
You said you would guys! Still waiting for that review
Definitely +1
Literally review the entire series of Hannibal. They tuned cannibalism and murder into art lol with tons of effects throughout that melt your brain
Best looking TV Show ever!
Legitimately stunning - so refined!
To me that adds so much to the deliberateness of his actions & how disturbed he truly is that everything else is in its place.
Thank you! I've also been commenting on this series with Hannibal requests. Mason's face, or the blood eagles... honestly anything!
Horrifying series. I love it! I particularly loved the whole time-lapse reconstruction / deconstruction of the grisly murder trophies.
YESSS!!! Finally district 9. I have been asking forever.
Hi, im David from Slovenia. Andrew "helped me" get a job on TV and I did animations and graphic backgrounds for live shows. Love the guy!
"Moiré" is French. In English the closest pronounciation would be "mwah-ray".
I'm sure you're french, but according to IPA it's [mwaˈʀe], and "ray" has kind of an "i" sound in the end that's not in the IPA pronunciation, right?
@@athmaid IPA is absolutely correct, that's why I said " in English the *closest* pronunciation would be". Most French words ending in "é" are pronounced "ay" in English. This one is no exception. E.g. soirée, fiancé, cliché, risqué, etc. ;)
Also, when I explain to English speakers how to pronounce the French R, I tell them it's like the Mexican J in mojito, fajita. Seems to help.
[insert "That's Amore" joke here]
@@rondidju Interesting trick, thanks. ;) They are indeed quite close on the IPA chart.
I turn on the video and the first thing I see is Hulk Sized Peter Burping...

I highly recommend reacting to the Dojo Fight Scene, Storming the Castle Scene, and/or Final Confrontation Fight from King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.
This movie is by far one of my favorites and the vfx in it really make me love it even more.
District 9 is so underrated... it NEEDS a sequel
Better not, it's perfect, they will ruin everything.

So obvious to see when the second host e.g. Clint or Sam are actually interested and when they couldn't care less about their guest or/and what they're reacting to. At the same time it's great to see Niko seem so interested and engaged throughout the React series.
Suggestion: Sam Raimi's "Spider man 2", the scene where Dr. Oct kidnaps MJ.

oh yes
The THX opening used to scare me as a kid, I do not know why lol...
The practical effects by KNB (and the genius that is Greg Nicotero) is SO good that sometimes I think the CG effects are overlooked so I'm really glad you featured that here...
You talked about CW being a Goldmine but I would love for you to do one where you look at Supernatural and all the FX over its 15 season run and talk about the good and the bad (generally the good was more practical whereas the VFX were sometimes...well...)
OMG THE Kramer himself!!! AWESOME! that man taught me everything I know... about after effects.
The first guy that looks like hulk what feels weird it’s that his movement aren’t heavy everything feels light and with no power
They mentioned weight off-hand when talking about the District 9 CG afterward, but that's definitely one of the main problems with the hulk. Again, like they said, they were probably working under time constraints and you can't necessarily blame the artist. Good CG comes from communication between everyone involved about what's doable under different constraints
He also never fully unbends his elbows which makes him look like a rubber action figure
I think also re: the arms, the whole body moves and then stops at the same time, which isn't how it works in real life; in reality the body will stop, and even under tension the arms (in particular the shoulders) will keep moving for another fraction of a second before they stop as well. Pacific Rim is a great example of this; every time one of the robots stops moving suddenly all the metal plates on the body sag as they decelerate just a fraction of a second later.
@@HimanXK Stretch Armstrong is what came to mind watching that clip.
He reminds me of those rubber punching dummies but with arms

I have a recommendation for some VFX / maybe stuntmen react shots. In the movie Tenet there are scenes where one person is moving forward in time while another person simultaneously is moving backwards in time. I think the movie has some interesting shots to comment on. I would be happy to get your opinion on them. :)

Lol it's interesting, cause you're just another human like the rest of us. But for some reason, people don't expect a successful music artist to comment on just any youtube video. Also, hi
You should check out Constantine with Keanu Reeves. They have that scene where she falls through the glass ceiling that is absolutely gorgeous. Dark but gorgeous
to me, the fact that aliens in district 9 have scales that slide over each other make them look really real
District 9 was the best example of using your budget widely. Many scenes filled in with CCTV footage. From what I understand, costing a tiny fraction of normal movie film. Very clever as it worked.
React to the final episode of “Westworld” season 1(opening scene): were Dolores wakes up. Right after Arnold activates her.
CGI is amazing. Seamless.
Andrew Kramer is the best, the stuff this guy has done with After Effects is insane.
