She said in her award acceptance speech that she hoped this song would let everyone know that themselves alone are enough to shine (paraphrasing dont remember exact quote) This song is so perfect for her solo and I hope we get to see more solo work from her in the future. Great reaction as always!
I think she choreographed this last part in the song because it is said that is her freestyle so she came up with it and the choreographer like perfected it? And the little dance in the chorus in the MV ? Did she come up with it ?

The fact you remembered Lovesick Girls watching this speaks a lot about Jennie, cause Jennie was one of the writers and producers of Lovesick Girls too (and we know now that she did that in Solo too, but they didn't give her credit - huge problem in Blackpink, YG never gives the credits to them, they only give to the male artists, we only know they did it when the own girls let it slip)

If I tell u while Rosé was SO happy during her solo era and Lisa too(sort of) Jennie was sad during her solo era, her intire solo era was just people hating on her, some "fans" didnt accept the fact she was the 1st member to have a solo AND she becama the most HATED kpop idol in 2018/2019, Actually Suli was the most hated one but she commited suic1de and then Jennie became the most HATED one, and she still in the top, she recieved death threats, hate comments, and was even told to leave BP, 2018 was a tough era to her, she wasnt good on stage kinda down and not dancing that much and people started to call her Lazy,
Jisoo once said "you might know Jennie as a someone that doesnt care about hate but I caught her crying in the middle of night hugging Kuma in her room(Kuma is her dog)" or something like this I dont remember when she said tgis tho, BUT if u wanna know more, here the video: Jennie is not okay and we should be worried (in this video we didnt know what was happening to her and why she was being "Lazy" this video actually only shows her down and not informative) these ones are like documentaries about her: Behind her smile Jennie, Jennie the villan of kpop

Holy shit, that's so crazy, like it doesn't register in my head why would she get so much hate for being the first BP girl to get a solo project, I mean sure maybe they wanted Lisa or Rose to be first but so what. the fact that she got so much hate to a point where it even got to death threats is beyond crazy, and then when fans see that the hate affects her by not giving a good stage performance they call her lazy? sheeesh, dafaq?! Nothing warrants that kind of treatment.

Funny thing is (ok its not funny) but these death threats are more "common" than u think, Lisa recieved some death threats in ice cream era (idk if u already reacted to ice cream if u dont I'll talk about this too)

These groups' members are all entertainers. Just because a fan or even several fans out of millions do not get EXACTLY what they want from the entertainers, does not give them the right to make death threats. That is SO STUPID and CRAZY.

And also 빛이 (shining) in Korean should be pronounced BITCH-EE (with the "ee" sound at last) but she pronounces in a way that it sounds like BITCH implying another meaning which is: "b****, I'm single" (but as you said during the song, she's happy and cool by being single, she doesn't want a relationship, she knows her value). Solo means single in Korean, but the good way of single, there's another word for single in Korean that I don't remember and that one implies feeling bad because you're single. But also SOLO implies going out as a solo artist which makes her shine too. So many things happens with that only little sentence, implying so many things, I love it!

From a KPop scoffer, Jennie and Solo made me lend an ear. But I mean, I remain a Black Pink purist up til now. Only Jennie was able to do it for me. Not even Black Pink when I first listened to AIIYL, she already stood out to me that time but I was turned off by the part where I felt some Asian artist is trying way too much to look&sound like a western artist (didn't know their names yet). I love Black Pink now though.
