That's awesome that you found it. I used to live four blocks from him and I can see it still looks the same way it did when I lived in Seattle. I'm originally from New Jersey but I moved to Seattle in 99 and stayed out there until mid 04 beginning of 05 I lived on 3rd Avenue downtown Seattle then first hill then capital hill then university district then Kent Washington out past SeaTac. Then I moved back to New Jersey I wish I stayed out there cause it's so much better to live people were friendly the rent was cheap and work was easier to find than out here in New Jersey. I once almost worked on a fish processing boat when I first moved to Seattle but couldn't find a certain part of the fishing gear I needed anywhere so that ended that. I moved out there to carry out my music career and when first got there it was very very tough but got easier I used to do open mic performances at the Pike Place Market cause you could buy a special permit to basically sit up on the street as long as you had the permit and people would pay you but it was like a homeless musician just sitting on a street corner playing for change but I didn't care I was starting my musical journey but unfortunately I had to move back due to a family emergency and a death but I'll never forget my time in Seattle it was probably the best time of my life and I loved it out there. Eventually I want to go back to visit and see if all of or some of the spots I used to play at are still around. Great video and thank you for sharing and helping me bring back up some of my fondest memories. Before I forget I also stayed at the Marco Polo motel on the aurora strip cause it was cheap weekly rent and I didn't know at the time that that was the last motel Kurt Cobain stayed at when he came back to Seattle from Exodus but I never stayed in the same room as he did cause I never knew he stayed in room 226 at the Marco Polo.

Layne actually lived there with him for a few months, and stayed by himself while Mark was on a Europe tour ✔️

Yep. With St. Louis Simon. The 6' 4" tall cross dressing crack addict running from the law from fucking an underage girl in St. Louis of course 😂 Until one day when he said he was going out for a walk and just never came back.

Wow, I've been wanting to see this for a few years now. I always wondered how Mark's apartment looked. I do know he was above the 1st floor due to the fact Mark said himself in his 2020 memoir "Sing Backwards and Weep" that his crack cocaine customers would have to throw pepples at his apartment bathroom window and that he'd have to "come down the stairs" to serve them their drugs. I assume he meant coming down the inside stairs. It'd be nice to know at least which floor he lived on or even better the exact door/apartment he lived in.
This helps with the mental visualisation in my mind when listening to Mark's memoir on Audible. It's easily the best Rock memoir I've ever had the pleasure of listening to/reading. It's top notch work! Thanks again 👍🏼

@@randblackwell8675 Right! Why read it after being able to listen to it with Mark's voice narrating it for you? I do enjoy reading a good paper book still, but if an Audible version with the actual artist narrating it is available, that's the best way to go!

Just Google earthed it and yep, very close to harbor view medical center. It wasn't too far of a walk for him when he had to carry Dawit to the emergency room!

Wow! I used to live in that building, I moved in c1998 so it was after Lanegan had left but it was still a big surprise to see this. Basement apartment, living room windows faced Jeffereson, my bedroom windows were on the alley.

Bro you should make a video of the pawn shop Mark frequented. Maybe his dingy leather pants are for sale.🤣🤣🤣 I can’t believe Rob the owner actually let Mark pawn the pants. Rob was good to Mark. A video of the pawn shop would be dope.

lol I actually used to use that pawn shop to get loans all the time just like mark did, but apparently the original owner the one mark knew sold it so it’s not owned by the same person he speaks of in the book, I’ve always wanted to ask about the leather pants but always felt weird because I feel like I’m intruding on the workers day waisting their time with my petty loan exchanges

The way he described it in the book made me think it was a lot more low-income Urban Decay, the area doesn't look too bad maybe they've cleaned it up since then, or maybe it was Mark that was bringing down the property value🎉😂😂😂😂

I used to live near there in the late 90s and early 2000s it looks much nicer now, I remember a mix of run down buildings and nice buildings near the hospital. There was definitely a seedy element and constant sirens but just a 15 minute walk to upscale shopping and office buildings downtown

@katierose1019 oh cool cool thanks for getting back to me now when you hear these ridiculous stories does it make you laugh that that was going on like right on top of where you were living? I mean obviously you're no snowflake if you've listened to enjoyed or have lived similarly to these Mark lanegan stories LOL
