- Visiting the Young Street Bridge in Aberdeen, Washington.
“Aberdeen’s must-see Cobain site is a small park, opened in 2011 by the Kurt Cobain Memorial Foundation, called Kurt Cobain Landing, which sits at the foot of the Young Street Bridge, the inspiration for the song "Something in the Way." Cobain claimed that he lived under the bridge for a time, and while most who knew him don’t think he did, it was clearly one of his preferred hangouts. Set along the banks of the murky Wishkah River, the strangely appealing little park features a guitar sculpture, a likeness of Cobain with the lyrics to "Something in the Way," a headstone with some amusing Cobain quotes (sample: "I’m a walking bacterial infection"), a Kurt Cobain "air guitar" sculpture and a collage of Nirvana-related graffiti under the bridge itself.
- Dave Seminara, The New York Times, March 25, 2014”

The Young Street Bridge is actually set to be demolished in the near future. Glad I was able to see it before that.
Really? Damn
Oh, that's so sad.
Nooo
That's such bullshit. Why?
Do you know when it's going to happen? I'm planning to visit Aberdeen around Easter holidays
I had my own bridge over Greens Bayou I slept under when my parents kicked me out multiple times as an adolescent. I relate to this song, just the feeling of being homeless, alone, it's like a very nonchalant depressing feeling. Accepting what is going on, but just... Yeah
Bet Kurt wishes he never said a word about that bridge
This location is cooler than his house tbh I liked seeing that memorial stone, air guitar stand and jag-stang statue
In the past I've heard differing accounts. Some say that he never really slept there, it was just an expression that became part of his mystique. There was a full-on messiah complex surrounding this guy that has created a sentimental view of who he really was.
Exactly
That song is so haunting...you can really feel the loneliness and sadness in his voice...
R.I.P. Kurt ❤
I hope you and Elliott Smith are up there, playing guitar together. ❤ ❤❤
I was there just a couple weeks ago and that path under the bridge had no gravel and there were lots of needles everywhere as well as what looked like a homeless ‘home’ under the bridge with lots of trash and clothes so it seems to be getting cleaned up.
Sticker is still there
I'm really glad that feel just a lil' bit like my soul also be there at this place in this few minutes, so thank you man! ✌&💜
Wow! What a peaceful beautiful vibe that place is. Excellent. Thank you
I love you showing the bridge again.
Thank you so much x
That's really sad there going to demolish it.i would love to have seen it but I live in ireland.lm probably to late.but thankyou for taking us there😊
*they're or they are. "There" is a place.
What they're going to demolish it? It's like time moves on, kinda busts me up a little every time I think about what happened. I was at such an impressionable stage when it all went down, I was 13. It kinda changed a lot. Music would have followed such an extremely different path, were it not to have happened. The music industry, and Courtney made a lot of money from that happening, imagine if it happened after their divorce.
@@QS-si3cq, thanks for the English lesson
I FELL BY THE SIGN YESTERDAY 😭
