- This seemed a simple model, but with its two tone colour scheme it proved to be quite a handful. After multiple failures I got there in the end and this little model is now a welcome addition to my matchbox original series collection.
Was a busy week so this video came out a day later than normal, apologies to all my regular viewers, I hope you can understand.

The early Matchbox cars and trucks had a charm of their own and I still think they are the best ones. The restoration was just perfect and the model looks brand new. Thanks for taking the time to make and share this tutorial. It was great!
That's a good looking pick-up. Thanks for making these videos, my daughter and I watch them before she goes to bed and she always looks forward to them.
Well worth the wait even if a day late. I too love the original models. Plain and simple and with no "gimmicks" of the later models. This gives them a charm all to themselves and really, to their young owners, did it matter if it had no interior? No, it was loved just the same.
Marty, you did a splendid job on the restoration. It looks factory new and now has a special place in your collection.
Very nice restoration of that old and simple cute little toycar. Looks beautiful.
Ahh back to the real restos!! Job very well done Marty. Now time to do some of the nearly destroyed models. Love watching you take jink and turn it into treasure!!
Thanks for the tip with the clear coat and the masking tape, Good job.
Hello Marty, first off, before I forget, congratulations on the successful auction of the “pink” bus. You raised a very substantial sum. You’re are a good man, Marty. Also thanks to all the You Tubers who participated in the challenge. Well done, all involved. In regards today’s makeover. I love the original Matchbox vehicles. You did a great job on this two tone truck. Thanks for all your efforts. See ya mid week for another unboxing. Bye.
Thank you
Lovely restoration of a neat little truck!
I do love these older Matchbox cars.
Using the clear paint to seal between the tape is a brilliant!
Love the out takes! A very simple model by Matchbox compared to what followed. Makes you appreciate their continuing efforts.
Another fantastic finished vehicle
Excellent Marty. Lots of back to basics tips. Especially the clear coat to stop paint bleed. Top draw again 😎
Love that two tone paint job! A nice simple little matchbox.
The weekend's not complete without a Marty video. 😊👍
I love the lines of the truck. Plus those Black Eyed Ghost Children remind me so much of the Bat Boy from the good ol' Weekly World News days.
That is a beautiful restoration. Well done.
You always do a fantastic job! I enjoy visiting antique stores and now look for older matchbox models with a different eye! Hahaha!
You are very patient in your restoring. Good job 👍🏻🇺🇸
Great again and also the Daily Star news in the background🤣😂😅😁👍🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁. You're an artist Marty. Thank you for this. Best C...
good job marty turned out very nice
Truck turned out beautiful I like the headlines on the star rag magazine
I like this model too. Awesome restoration , Marty !!!!!!!
Marty, great job.glad you kept the model in the original colours, and only used towards the end of the models production, and there for a scarcer variation
Definitely the better colour option. Probably has a better finish than when it was new!
Ahhh the outtakes are always worth a giggle. I imagine there'd be a few "MF's" flying if I was doing work that small and stuff went flying. Beautiful restoration keep them coming Marty. Cheers!
Beautiful work as always 👏
Thank you Marty,, another wonderful job!!!!
Just been looking at some of your older videos and really wanted to thank you for the tip on preventing bleeding of paint on two tones. What a great and simple little trick that produces great results. This was a really nice restoration and the time you spent mixing the right grey colour was well spent as it looks spot on. Excellent job all round, thanks for the video.
Beautifully done!
Have always loved your explanations in your restorations, straight to the point and a great tutorial guide. Also you may wish to consider heating rusty axles with metal wheels with your mini blow torch thus avoiding collateral damage to wheels. It should help ease off the jammed wheels.
Very nice restoration it looks awesome 👍👍😊
Looks good.
Great restoration also this time Marty! Congratulations.
BEAUTIFUL JOB MARTY
Absolutely a gem Marty. Great job!!!!
Lovely paint finish
Nicely done, Marty. Nicely done.
Cool little model. Good color scheme.
Very nice restoration! Thanks for the tip on the clearcoat before the color when taping
Wow - that came out sweet! Beautiful work.
I agree the older vehicles are the coolest 50's, nice job Marty.
110% video marty an absolute treasure stunning model and i agree entirely with your view of the early models they really define true matchbox quality 🚓🚗🚑🚒🚐🚖🚕
Hello marty i love these original lesney models. they just have such a timeless appeal to them and make for the best make overs in my opinion. Loving the vids marty
Beautiful work Marty! Loved it!
I think this one is my favorite. Well done!
Noticed what the new camera provides, improved clarity & depth of color. I like that.
Great restoration.
That little two tone ute/pickup truck looks fantastic and the silver sets it all off perfek. Love it Marty, another winner. I think you're right about the classics, they just make you want to pick them up and admire them.
Edit. Just hadda qwik Squizzy Taylor at another two guys that did the same vehicle, I must say Marty the two tone Red and Grey really sets this model off, makes the Bahama Beige look very ordinary, they were nice too, don't get me wrong, but just that little difference sets them poles apart. Wish I could give more likes.
Nice restoration Marty , great 👍👌
Nice simple makeover, but still a great and enjoyable video. 👍🙂
Hi Marty, love the 'back-to-basics' videos. Another winner. Used to drive one of these with the Co-op, delivering goods.
I agree with you 100% Marty you can't beat the classics. She turned out beautiful reminds me of my dads old 56 hillman minx.👍
Brilliant restoration as normal Marty
Great restoration Marty
Nice detective work, turned out great.
Great job Marty! Well done.
Excellent. The kids love it. Thanks marty.
Not only the Kids...😁 I'm 53 years old and I love it as well..... 👍🏼😁👍🏼😁👍🏼
Paul Sparr, i meant it was my kids that sent that particular car! But yer, i agree, always enjoy martys videos.
@@dansmodelrailways7886 I thought so... 😁😂
But in every "full grown" man, there's a "little boy" who loves to see "childhood-dreams" again. 😁👍
Greetings from northern Germany... 👋👍😁
Nice restoration as always 👍👍
Great job Marty... Once again you win... 🐨
Nice and simple is just fine
As "simple" as this model looks, Marty still finds a way to work in a miraculous repair. It wouldn't be a Marty's Makeover without one!
Marty, thanks for including more info about the tools, screws, and products you use. I'm looking to expand my techniques and appreciate it! Funny thing is I have one of those torches here somewhere, but have yet to make any creme brulee so it may need to be repurposed! 😄
Kevin gave this model the respect it deserves by not interfering. I bet he'll be back to his tricks next week though.
Only "one thing" from me today...
What a cute Ute!!! 🇦🇺😁😁😁👍🏼 Awesome resto 👍🏼
Love these old beauties👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Have a nice weekend and best regards from Cuxhaven, northern Germany 😁👍🏼
Great job Marty....
Hi Marty! Thanks for sharing this very relaxing & therapeutic 22:48 minutes, I'm happy with that! 😉👍 Remember: sometimes the simple things are the best! Cheers & best regards for you and your family 🤩
The welding was very interesting. It's amazing what can be done these days. Nice to see the classics being restored.
Gorgeous Ute
love the out-takes
Marty's Matchbox makeover IT'S Fantastic job Marty's
Think this one is my favorite .
Awesome model great work Marty
Excellent job!!!.
You make very good again, congratulations from Lambayeque, Peru and I wish you a good sunday with your family and friends more near in Australia.
See you later and I'll wait the next video....😁😁😁👍👍👍👍
I am always in awe of your color mixing. Even when you have a bit of a challenge.
Got a bit worried when we didn't see a video Saturday morning so very glad to find all is well and there another fantastic restoration to enjoy. As an aside, my nickname when I was young was Diggers, not because I liked mineral spirits, but because I liked to dig. My parents granted me my own plot next to the rhubarb to indulge this past time. I know for a fact that if anyone was to do an archeological expedition in the back garden of my childhood home they would find a few relics of this type to restore.
You have amazing color mixing skills! Great job!
Beautiful job Marty. Yes simple casting with amazing detail and your cool paint job. WELL DONE.
That paint is excellent, it really shines. Restoration success! Thanks for the video.
That Comer looks 100% better than the before version. Great Job Marty
Wow that gray and red paint line is so crisp! You do amazing work on those little cars.
another ACE Marty...11/10 xx phil from over the pond
Am I the only one who likes these cars much better BEFORE he restores them? :)
Well done, Marty.
Great work. Niece Litle pick up.
Should have chromed the rear bumper since you did the front. Really enjoy your restoration work and the hints. Very helpful. Keep up the good work.
Love how that little truck looked lowered and slammed into the weeds because of that little break. Looks great finished as well. Keep it up!!!
Right. It looked like something a low-rider had thrashed and junked.
Great choice of expletives in the outtakes mate.....
Keep up the good work.
Dave
Another great job!
Fantastic Marty!👍🏻👍🏻
Sharp truck Marty
Awesome! I love the real old models! As far as the "Super Fasts" ... Well done on the Pink Bus! Of all of the restorations for the challenge, your's went for the most! Well done! Thanks!
Great video as always! The best bit was when you actually answered a burning question I had! (How to stop two tone leakage) great stuff Marty!
Great back to basics video, excellent as usual Marty
Love this one!
Wonderfully done!!!
Awesome job I love it
Love these older models.
Really nice work. Great effort getting the seized wheels off the axles. The axles really weren't salvageable. A very attractive model in 2 tone. The 'before' was a mess. I wondered why the front end was sagged - until I saw the split in the base was the cause. The brace on the rivet post pushed the broken base metal out. Must have been stepped on. I keep an engineers straight edge 300mm long to check base plates. Many I've found are bent.
Nice looking pickup
Another great video, I'm loving the bloopers you been putting at the end of your videos, awesome.
