    Mechanical perfection. :)
    I bought a brand-new Leica MP in 2021 from Leica. It jammed, there were issues with frames overlapping. I sent it back via the Leica store I bought it at. Leica "fixed" it on warranty - the repair took three months. When I got it back, the meter would only work on every other frame. I sent it back on warranty again, it came back correctly fixed another three months later.
    Leica provides a three-year factory warranty, no questions asked. When you buy an MP (or new M6, MA), make sure you still have that warranty.

    • @MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom
      @MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom  Месяц назад +1

      Wow sorry to hear that. Yes great advice regarding the warranty. Thanks

      The Leica film camera right now and the Leica film camera back then are something very different. Back then it was a weapon, now they build it more of a toy. Mine MP struggles too, with the light meter. Some say that MPs with serial number starting with 56 are the most unreliable.

    • @thedarkslide
      @thedarkslide Месяц назад +1

      @@YanLiLeiI think the only Leicas better than the MP, new M6 and MA are the M3 and M2. Anything else is inferior in terms of build and durability.
      Ever since the repair, my MP is perfect. I’ve shot hundreds of rolls with it since.

      @@chesslover8829 Kind of an unfair comparison. Leica is still in the game, making mechanical film cameras. Zeiss isn't. Contax isn't. Yashica isn't.

    Hi Matt thanks for sharing. I recently experienced a couple of times the film jammed in my MP. Found out the film was not evenly loaded at the beginning, so I rewind and reload to solve the issue each time. The camera works good after that.

    I bulk load my own film too. Several times the tape I used to connect the film to the canister gave way and the entire roll of film ended up on the take up spool. I realized this when I looked at the film counter and it was in the 40s! Luckily I always carry a small film changing bag and some empty black light tight film containers. I switched to a different type of tape for reloading and for added measure I always rewind my film when I get to the 35th frame. I love my MP and the only problem I’ve had so far was my frame counter stopped working. Apparently the gears that attach to the frame counter is made of nylon and the teeth on the gears were stripped. I sent the camera off to DAG in the states for a complete tear down and CLA and I had my camera back in a few weeks. As for my watch, I sport a Rolex Explorer II with a white dial.

    Hey Matt✌
    Thanks for your next video and I'm already looking forward to the others that will follow👌 It's foggy here at the moment too, which gives the pictures a certain look, especially if they're analogue. Of course it's annoying that your film got caught in the MP but luckily the problem was solved in the bathroom. I was also out and about with my two M3's DS and SS as both still had film in them from my holiday in August. The DS was at the technician's to clean the viewfinder and then came there too so I was able to insert another film and took the remaining pictures today. 😉 In such weather when it's foggy it's a bit mystical and special👍 And I really like such moods, autumn with all its facets. Mega great shots and pictures of what you've conjured up again. And about watches, I used to wear my Garmin Fenix automatic watches, although I'm not really the watch type.

    Prestige are such under rated watches, while the world has eyes on Grand Seiko. I will even say their watch dial are classier design than GS nature imitation dials. I love my vintage Omega Constellation pie-pan that has a "tropical" dial which render it gold, thus it became my only "gold watch" in my collection; but that thing is in need of a CLA more than any of my leicas, so I rarely wear it. One day if I stop buying camera, maybe I will pick up a 41mm Globemaster.

    • @mechanicalslrlounge5138
      @mechanicalslrlounge5138 Месяц назад +2

      @MattOsborne-MrLeicaCom it mostly comes down to the materials used. Cheaper metals and more use of plastic, and for me personally they do not feel as nice to use. There also seems to be a serious lack of quality control from the factory and repairs from leica take ages. Also like I said the value just isn't there. A new film leica is $6000 CAD, you can get a fully refurbished m2 (my favorite Leica M) for around $2000 CAD. I also have a huge issue with the direction that Leica is going in terms of the right to repair and parts exclusivity etc. but that is a whole other discussion haha

      @@MattOsborne-MrLeicaComBack in 1968, got a s/h SS GMT Master for £35 plus part exchanged it with an Omega Seamaster, from Austin Kayes in the strand in London. It was getting popularity as was featured in the Bond movies at the time. Original price was £85 brand new. Rolex changed face and a black bezel as both pretty faded back in the late 90’s, the former a big mistake as probably lost value. At the same time changed bracelet as it was very stretched but kept original. Don’t wear it as have Apple Watch as not so conspicuous. Lovely watch, being serviced occasionally, only fault was a replacement winder as the shaft had sheared. Quite a costly repair. Wondered about your work background and surprised at your interest in mechanical watch’s.
