For the most part, the employees at the Cockeysville Maryland Party City were not very enthusiastic, less than helpful, and often seemed preoccupied with something else. Few of the employees in that store seemed like a good fit for working in a store called Party City, and the store itself had very little character. If this is how the whole chain was run, I can see why they're closing. The store was generally depressing to visit, and the only reason I ever ventured in was to see what Halloween stuff they had on clearance.
Same here for my store actually. From a customer servicing standpoint they did not seem to be well trained. I can't remember once ever being asked. Can I help you? Welcome to party City! I don't know how old you are but I can tell you, 20 years ago, It was a very different experience and a very different store. I miss those days.
It's so sad to hear about both Big Lots and Party City. Having been laid off back in February, I know what it feels like to be let go. It sucks, no matter what time of the year it occurs. I was so fortunate to bounce back and now I work at an amazing company since June. I'm also much happier than I was before! I have no doubt all the Big Lots and Party City folks will land on their feet in 2025!!
100% agree with everything you said. I'm holding out on Big lots because they haven't totally made the call. From what I understand it's likely going to happen, but they're still looking for a savior unless you've seen something I haven't.
Spirit Halloween outdid them in the Halloween department and The Dollar Tree was more convenient and affordable (with still great variety) in the party department
I agree with both of your points. I'm sure Dollar Tree really made an impact. They have so much stuff and like you said, usually much closer to your house than a Party City.
Well that depends on how badly you really want him cuz I just searched for you. Embers is available for about $300 online, for instance on Mercari. So don't give up on it. It's also very likely the company that's making it will sell it to other stores next year now that Party City is out of the equation.
That video was fascinating. I don't know a lot about party city. What I know is coming from RUclips videos of animatronics. Also, it makes me think of Party Expert in Quebec (it's something very similar). It's sad they had to close, especially during that time of the year. I'm happy to know you are working on new videos. Can't wait to watch them.
@@treatortreat Hi Val, I actually found it very interesting that there are party cities in Canada but I didn't mention them because they seem to be kind of independent and those will stay open. I did a lot of research on this video but it is more specific to the US. Glad you enjoyed it!.
So much to unpack here. First of all what a wonderful video. So well done, very professional, great research and sentiments. Second. That suit suits you. Great color for you. And the hair is great. I have the same memories of the PC of yore, when going to look at the mask wall was like driving around to look at holiday lights. But the last time I was in a PC and I saw the prices, there was no way I was going to buy anything. They had what others had at 30% more than what other stores were charging. The last time I was there was for a friend's Luau party and I went there to pick up some party supplies to gift her. I was able to find a few things that were reasonably priced. I will miss having them around for those last minute needs like that party. I'll admit, I shop on line for much of what I used to buy from PC. But when I can, I always support the local shops and eateries. I'm looking forward to seeing your baked goods come out of the oven and hit the shelves. Keep them coming.
Okay, there's a lot to unpack in my reply. 👻 First, thank you for your compliments on the video. I greatly appreciate that. Second, as far as the suit and the hair I was trying to mimic Jack Frost who appeared in the video with me. Not sure if that came across. And finally, I do have to agree that prices got a little out of hand towards the latter years. It's a shame they didn't continue to be the discount party provider that was the founders original idea. Regardless, it's always sad when someone closes because that's just one less in-person place we have as a choice to go to in person.
well my hearts been broken yet again
I feel you and understand. I am seriously going to make sure I am buying some things from brick and mortar retail outlets in 2025.

@@Frightman I only started going into Party City on a regular basis in the last year or so.
I see. Well then you missed the good years.

@@totalnonstopholidays I guess they have made up their mind. I just got an email from them that says all stores closing. Hmm so sad.
@@Frightman oh no! 😭
I was so sad to hear about their closing. I just shopped there a few months ago. Great job. I'd love more like this one.
Thank you. I appreciate you letting me know you would like more like this. I'm definitely working on some diversity in my content for 2025.

A very sad situation but excellent reporting and commentary on your part.
Yes it is very sad. Thank you so much for the positive feedback, I appreciate that.

It is sad but it is true
Anyone remember the days of Party City vs Party Universe?
@@LikaLaruku I love your question because I do not know about party universe. Please tell me more.
It got cellarboxed
Sadly, it did.
