I spent a couple years on that corner when it was at Nedick's, slingin' hot dogs and orange drinks, half a century ago. A great experience, learned a lot, met a lot of people (and at least back then, that was considered the busiest corner in the entire US if not the world. Over the ensuing years I've gone back and spent a couple of hours just standing there and watching the world go by, so there's a special place in my heart and memory for it. And for street dogs, you won't get better than Sabrett.
Best orange drink ever ,I cant count franks I had at that local when I walked too 47 & 10th Av.too get my cab for night shift .ca 1975...
I remember Nedick's....and there was a Chock full of nuts on the corner!!

This reminds me of parts of downtown San Francisco. You just need a cable car going up Powell Street! Great video! The dogs look good.

Great review. Next time try the hot pretzel with mustard omgh the best thing ever! I wish the hot dog vendors here in The Bronx sold them but they're only donwtown near Macy's which was one of my faorite things I'd ask my mom to buy after spending an entire day shopping in Macy's.

Another great video! I was wondering why these guys are putting mustard on top of the sauerkraut and onions. I've been buying hot dogs from street carts since the 1970s (not so much in recent years) and the mustard was also put on first, followed by sauerkraut and then onions. Has that routine changed over the years?
Don't know why... but if you notice the very last hot dog I received the vendor did the mustard first. I think I have to start saying: Mustard, Sauerkraut, Onions. In that order.
Mustard, dog, onions and than sourkraut.. mustard always goes first or at the bottom of a sandwich.
@@felipenunez2058 Never in NYC. Mustard on top of the hot dog 100% of the time. I've never seen a cart put mustard on the bun before the hot dog, ever.

Maybe an idea would be for you to tell us the size of the dog. At my cart in Yorkville, IL on Rt 47 Delicious Steamed Hot Dogs I used David berg 8 to 1, eight in a pound of beef.) Kosher style, Since 1982 it's still going strong. Good job Guys. Good job Guys. John Kennedy.

Everything is getting crazy with pricing. The wife and I went to our local Legion tonight and a bowl of chili and a bun cost $10.00 ! Last year it was $5.00. Every one of these guys tried to put Ketchup on your dogs ! Wow good reviews, high scores !

One thing I have always thought about I moved from NY to Florida I plan on opening up a NY style cart in Fl now since I lived in NY for over 32 years where do hot dog vendors use the restroom ? They can't leave there cart alone makes you think? I see your not letting go of them calories :) again. You know clint eastwood would have a fit putting ketchup on hot dogs :)

I notice the keep trying to put ketchup on them instead of the mustard. like a reflex. so lots of people must get ketchup on them. I absolutely love mustard on them, but if nothing else as far as toppings i love the spicey mustards

Great video, Everything is going up Prices for consumables have gone up ,Most of these guys take the loss ,But they Have to raise their prices It's not a mabe things are changing and they been in business many years but they must learn to adapt and conquer pass that to the customer, Thats Business It's just business People Will pay ,People will treat themselves to hotdogs & fast food 👍

Not from New York but having visited many many times, the street vendors sure have New York attitudes LOL But then New York is like no other place and a great place to visit, so you just have to get used to the New York way and vibe and everything is cool.

I actually tried ketchup on hot dog a couple of times at home. It wasn’t too bad. But I still prefer mustard.

I too prefer mustard, but having lived in NYC, New Yorkers eat hotdogs with ketchup. The mustard is there for tourists from out of town.

I never really get you guys commenting on how good these dogs are. The keep them in water, like anyone can do at home. The use typical buns, kraut, garnishes. What makes them different than anything you would make in the home? Does the vendor make his own dogs, garnishes? Please tell me....

I have one question: does anyone ever get the grilled meat skewers? I've been to Manhattan many times and eaten a billion dogs from these vendors but I've never seen anyone purchase those skewers.

The men you spoke to are not owner’s there usually newly arrived immigrants from Tunisia, Morocco and other parts of North Africa. The last one did seem like an owner operator because he didn’t mind talking. They will typically work for a multi cart operator who just drives around checking up on them.
