this is the man people talk so much crap about and he is the kindest person ever. When a person goes out to shoot, it is for sport and he rocks for what he said about thinking only of the target and nothing more. I am an archer and I try and find different angles to hit my target, but only imagine the bulls eye and nothing more. God Bless you Axl Rose for always being a true American and never falling into that Hollywood bull crap. That is why people talk shit about him. He keeps it real.
axl didn't mean it offensive at all and it makes me mad because people mis understand and what he meant and think he's a bad person when he's not!!! seriously!!
@@marriah well we can't blame him for that, maybe in that time saying those things were taken as a joke or something not really offensive. Now, in 2023 if u say the N* word you would be veeery cancelled
@@marinadiamondz it was still bad to say the n word in the 80s. I just mean he didn’t say it bc he hated black people he was just an idiot. We definitely can still blame him for it
@metariane He is not a racist haha um Slash is black think about it. And Elton John is gay, Axl Rose always, always thanks Elton John when winning an award. So no he is not racist and you clearly did not pay attention to what he said. maybe your a racist for accusing a white man of being racist. Think about that? Am I a die hard go nuts fan, no but I respect Axl rose for being a real person. He is a very nice person and people like you try and take him down.
You can't racially insult a white person unless they live in a black majority society and under a similar ideology to black people. And just because your favourite singer is gay doesn't mean you can't be homophobic, unfortunately. In the 90s, almost everyone in my class listened to Eurodance and many of them were racists, maybe shook hands with the black singer, but never with the black asylum seeker. The singer was an exception for them.
He said that he used to dress like a rock star even before he was famous and one day some chick said to him..."You really think you're a rock star huh?" to which he replied..."THANK YOU VERY MUCH!"
What some people don't understand about lyrics is that sometime they are sung in the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd person narrative. The antagonist view may be that they view the subject matter in a negative light before being exposed by the protagonist later in the song or story by switching the the roles of the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd person. Many great lyricists do this but they may confuse a less cerebral audience. Nonetheless, Axl used terms that he knew were controversial even though he knew that they would probably be misinterpreted.
OMFG! The personality on this guy is amazing. The bit about the 8th grade is great, sexy does not even come close to describing him. There is a beautiful human being inside all that bravado and attitude.
He was terribly abused as a child/teen. And that is just the beginning of his troubles. He does not use drugs or drink. I have done a ton of research on him.
Axl is amazing! People should not critize him. he is an amazing. He doesnt have to explain anything. i was not even alive when this interview was made. (though i wish i could have been) He is extreamly gifted and talented and even is to this day! LONG LIVE GUNS N ROSES
if you don't like him why you search for videos about him? if you don't like him, that's your problem man, but don't write shit about him, he's the best singer of all time!!!
Axl is right, it was hard to get beyond Appettite because of the bringing the lyrics back to another album and after they stopped touring in 1993, it was hard to get the band together to things done because the band was all over the place.
Axl is a class act. He's so charismatic, he really made that band what it was. I don't think they ever buried Appetite. The UYI albums were fantastic but I still think that songs from Appetite will always be more well known.
There's nobody like Axl I wish the all could talk out their issue's & make a huge come back, I know dream on...... Can't blame me for thinking about it, I'm sure I'm not the only person that feel's that way! Atleast I have their music in my heart & soul, nobody can take that away from me Just saying
I remember watching this on MTV and taping it, along with everything and anything GNR at the time - lol. I think the major reason why the media made such a big deal out of Axl's racist comment in "One in a Million" is BOREDOM! They have nothing better to do than to create chaos over a sentence in a song. Well, in a way it helped with sales of "GNR LIES" so something good did come out of it ;P
That's understandable. I can relate, I just want to get back into life. However, I do not want to tolerate the bullying and harrassment. I don't like guns because as. women especially, a weapon of any sort can be used a against you if overpowered. As far as the band's title Guns and Roses I see it as I came to know the band is Metaphorically speaking The Guns defend their Roses meaning Children including the inner child , male and female. We all become adults. I remember being rostered with a particular dentist and he had music playing and November came on. I said oh I love this song. I said i love Guns and Roses. He replied, sarcastically, that would be right. I thought ok. This when stuff was beginning to happen at work but I know idea you were in the background. Then I said you don't here anything from them anymore. Its so sad they were great group. of course I was not aware of there history as a band and I only knew about 6 songs. Little did I know. Thank you for always being there when I wasn't aware and to everyone else involved that I am not aware if.You know what I mean Where would I have been. I couldn't even begin to imagine even a quarter of what was going and still is. I know we have had our rollercoaster but we still remain steadfast.I love you🌹🌹❤️❤️
I like them all, even Chinese Democracy (I know it isn't the old lineup but I'm glad they still keep the legacy alive); however, if I had to pick a favorite it would be Use Your Illusion II because of Civil War, Estranged, and You Could Be Mine.
hahaha axl made "one in a million" at a bus stop when he saw cops and blacks doing a bunch of shit, so he started writing the lyrics, and when he sang it the guys laughed so hard
I understand Slash is half-cast, but being racist is about fully black people. I don't agree with racism - it's fucking ridiculous and I don't see any point of it (whoever is racist is a complete twat and deserves to be crucified) - but Axl obviously was aiming it at blacks as opposed to half black. Please don't see anything offensive in the comment I just made because nothing offensive was intended.
Maybe you no longer think this way after 14 years, but racism is racism, whether it affects all-black or half-black people. By the way he was angry at poor black people who wanted to sell him fake gold chains.
@guitarzan73 ..I'm sorry I guess I should do my homework first but they all had the same problem i.e."Niggaz With Attitude, active from 1986 to 1991, the group endured controversy due to the explicit nature of their lyrics. They were subsequently banned from many mainstream US radio stations and even at times prevented from touring." so I listened to the original track and the "Janes Addiction" version" of "Don't Call Me Nigger, Whitey" thanx for the reply.
name the song of GNR that everybody knows. band don't play for everybody, but for few people who are interested in their music. whole shit taking place between nirvana and gnr fans is stupid. You'll always listen to music you like, not music being good in sb's opinion. btw opinion is like butt - everyone has one on his own
Guns n roses-slash matt duff gilby/izzy can still get it done, cos of axls voice and amazing flair for the dramatic and showmanship, guns without axl is just velvet revolver and while theyr not bad theyll never be anything like guns,i think the band from appetite on were just axls solo project, and i hate to say that, axl is just a nutter with great vision and songwritng ability,as long as hes alive and making music therel always be a guns n roses regardless of the lineup
truthfully i hate axel but some of what he says has point, i do believe that some black people are racist but then we have white people who believe nazisim still today, i think anyone can be racist but what i hate is where in comedies where black people reference their skin colour and try and put it into a joke(40 year old virgin, hangover etc) is that suppose to be funny? i dont know if there trying to reference the apartheid which was ages ago but it just makes me feel bad to be white
@tsiapas1423 I agree with you, however where i`m from if a black person is coming over to the house, i`m not going to say my African american friend john is coming over, first of all because it wouldn`t be accurate because he is black not american. I would say johns coming over. We dont even acknowledge a race when talking about someone most of the time, and not having the history the USA has had there is a lot less racism here.
@tsiapas1423 why is it Americans call black people african-americans. Most of them probably dont come from africa. Do the white people there call themself European-Americans?
W stands for William. His birth name is William Bruce Rose, Jr, later changed to William Bruce Bailey. As he did not want to have the same name as his father, he shortened it to W. This is how he became W. Axl Rose.
Yea his hair looks betetr there than in RIO 91, idk i guess he change his hair stylist. IN 85 through 88 was the time when he was still "STREET" and humble.
I can stay for long hours just hearing his voice.
Yeeeeeeah. Cool, deep voice.😎
Look, I think he just wanted to do what he wanted and give a fuck big you to anyone that cant handle some words you dont like.
a-fucking-men
@RedTV8888 your welcome

What a voice axl :*****
Salome Bolkvadze precioso Axl💝💝
Pretty charming face with beautiful voice. I just love Axl Rose so much.
He said that he used to dress like a rock star even before he was famous and one day some chick said to him..."You really think you're a rock star huh?" to which he replied..."THANK YOU VERY MUCH!"
more like rock legend.
Good interview. On a separate note, Axl's hair looks so soft.. I feel compelled to touch it haha!

One in a Million would be super cancelled today
I really dig Axl Rose, this is a great interview. "THANK you VERY MUCH!" haha!
He was terribly abused as a child/teen. And that is just the beginning of his troubles. He does not use drugs or drink. I have done a ton of research on him.
He did drugs tho but not as much as the rest of the band
My godness..
Axl Rose is fuckin' pretty.
Axl Rose has fuckin' amazin' voice.
Axl Rose been, be, and will be fuckin' LEGEND!
kurt was a genius in his own way and i love his music. but i also love axl rose and everyrthing about him.
Axl rose was a good song writer, other than that... the guy had issues for sure
axl is very misunderstood

That is no reason not to criticise him. However, it depends on how the criticism is formulated. No man is God, not even a VIP.
Rosto feminino e vozeirão! Lindo!
i would do it without anybody forcing me haha im a chick i love him he IS the king of rock!
That was back in the days when Axl still was cool !
You win sir
i know right i was expecting his voice to be all high & tiny
ooooh,, i'm in love with him!

Very well said!
I thought the same when shooting a gun, how easily it can kill.
So why do you have a gun?
Axl is a class act. He's so charismatic, he really made that band what it was. I don't think they ever buried Appetite. The UYI albums were fantastic but I still think that songs from Appetite will always be more well known.
