@Lorie Mccarthy Sarcasm? No, he's human, he's been through a lot, he's been a huge asshole at times, but he's a good guy overall. I did see another side of him after reading Adler's book, tbh, but even Steve gives him credit for his good deeds and loves the guy to death.
I think that there aren't many people who see Axl the way his fans do. How i see him. No matter what he did and whatever, he is a god damn rock n' roll legend. He will always stay that, no matter what people said, say, and will say about him.
That interviewer is really good, its more conversational and enjoyable than a formal interview..he did one with sebastian bach as well that was good. He gets them to relax and they open up and the laughter is kool to see.
There are lots and lots of closet GNR fans out there... In the England, the classic '87'-'93 Guns are the type of rock band, that a bunch of blokes down the pub will sit around a table, drinking beers, talking rock n' roll, and then start endlessly praising Led Zepplin or AC/DC etc... but god forbid they admit to liking the old GNR- somehow just not 'cool' enough... yet, when these same blokes, get home, totally pissed, or when they sober-up the next day, out come the GNR albums... The way I see it. For a band (GNR) that 'apparently' time has forgotten, and all the 'real blokes' prefer Led Zeplin etc... Funny how GNR get more hits on RUclips than 'The Stones', AC/DC, and Led Zepplin... Something tells me, lots of people need to confront their rockuality, and just COME OUT of the closet, and admit that the classic '87-'93 Guns were one fucking GREAT rock band...
***** Dont get me wrong there are alot of people up there just like Morrison but the credentials Rolling Stone Magazine were basing their votes on were things like octave ranges vocal ranges, and who could hit what notes. But even tho there are notes Axl cant hit that mariah carey could, or whitney could, they basically went by the widest range i think which im happy about given hes my personal favorite frontman. But if you wanna see the vocal ranges compared to other artists go to www.concerthotels.com/worlds-greatest-vocal-ranges and youll be able to see it, and i guess better understand why hes the best singer alive, especially as of late, my cousin took a picture with him in vegas at the hard rock when he had his mini tour their. In the pic hes got the straight hair (no damn braids) and a black leather fedora, with a clean shaven face and hes slimmed down, a lot more since i saw the "Axl rose disaster video" and he actually looked a little like his old self, or actually young self. Now dont get me wrong the guy is 53 hes only human, hes gonna age, some do it more gracefully than others but i think if Axl got into a little shape, hed look better, hed singer better, and perform better, point being hes considered the best singer alive now, imagine with a little discipline and him being i guess a little more realistic with Slash and them, he could be singing even better now even tho hes number 1, and just like he said, he wants to make another appetite for destruction but cant because he doesnt have slash, his exact words to kurt loder. Axls so under the radar as far as him being vital in music but he could easily make a few changes and become even bigger, bringing in the appetite line-up and making a record. Than people can really say hes the best singer alive.
I like him to be honest. I think he comes across very well in this interview and more than anything he's real...tells it how it is. I think his stuff about his church was spot on. Christians are usually very self righteous and thats why people hate them unfortunately
It surprising to see this side of Axl . Here he comes across as an intelligent man who understands the situation that fame has foisted upon him. On stage he comes across as an aggressive thug.
I think he had frustrations with the band, a lot of pressure and flack and criticism and nobody really just accepted Axl for Axl. The other band members were mostly strung out on heroin withdrawal and because he gave everything of himself in performance, someone who pitched to a show and show disrespect like taking photos or whatever trivial thing just set him off. There were also law suits and divorces and all sorts of stress too so like anyone, he was a different animal altogether...that's what i can gauge. But it's just my thoughts.
I love how he listened to rap of those times to learn about social issues ... Just like there are no bands like G n R anymore so has rap...what does rap talk about nowadays????!!!! Music and the new generation have definitely gone downhill.... sorry millenials....

I also grew up in a Pentecostal Church and it was NOT a positive experience for me. JESUS changed all that......I Love You Lord, Thank You for loving me
I'm really sorry to hear from Axl that The Church was fractured and he saw the self-righteousness of many of the congregation and the hypocrisy. It's not the way Jesus designed His Church to be and those who didn't shine the light for Christ will have to bear responsibility for a sheep getting lost.
❤❤❤excellent to see this old interview, How can anyone say axl was an ass hole after hearing him talk so beautifully and compassionately here, He has an air of Jim morrison about him here too
Yet Axl grew up with one of the most screwed up celebrity childhoods ever and was the only one who was sober from every kind of drug or alcohol during live shows and interviews. Without Axl, GNR wouldn't exist. GNR was GNR before Slash was in the band dude, and it's best that someone in the band owns rights to the music so that the industry can't force them into playing sell-out music, and so they can keep it the way they want it. Chinese Democracy is just as good as the other stuff.
I saw Guns'n'Roses and Metallica with Faith No More opening at Texas Stadium a long, long time ago. My friends and I had general admission tickets for the floor, so we got there early to stand in line. We were very close to the first people being let in when the time finally came. But we stood in line for half a day. I saw people dropping all over the place from heat exhaustion, both in line and once we got inside. People were climbing inside a nearby dumpster to go to the bathroom. Getting there so early actually paid off, I really was surprised about that. The area next to the stage was cordoned off and they were only letting a certain amount of people in there. That's the closest I've ever been to the stage before. It's so much different from watching a concert from the nosebleed sections. It was one of the best performances I've been too. But the experience was also very grueling and exhausting. I was still in my mid 20s then, and I think that's the only reason I didn't drop like so many around us did. If the heat didn't get them, the mosh pit did. Goddamn it was wild. I didn't go back to another concert for several years after that.
He was such a young guy here...it must have been mind-blowingly indescribable to achieve such fame, notoriety and wealth at such a young age...the only reason I've ever had to dislike him was because I felt that he ought to have been a bit more respectful and appreciative of his fans - fans are the only reason that anyone can achieve his level of success in the first place...but I loved his music as a young man - there is something undeniably charismatic about him, tho - definitely one of the greatest rock singers and front-men of all time 🔥
Yup. I don't know what happened to the charming, energetic young lad of the 80's who fronted the biggest band in the world at that time. Guess those days are never gonna come back.
That was beautiful, Axl's a good guy, I don't care what anyone says.
THANK YOU. SO MUCH. FFS

He's so intelligent, I can listen to him speak all day. How I'd love to have a conversation with him.
I still want too..he's got it all.. It's magic seeing and hearing him.. And yeah he is really smart. ❤️
He's very intelligent.

Legenda
Axl = musical genius
This interview shows that Axl, even as a young rocker, has more sense than most people poeple today.
he's soooo beautiful...
I LOVE HIS VOICE
That interviewer is really good, its more conversational and enjoyable than a formal interview..he did one with sebastian bach as well that was good. He gets them to relax and they open up and the laughter is kool to see.
I always felt like Kurt Loder really liked him. I think he is one of only a handful of people Axl would do long interviews with.
You're right. Axl is on his own level. No one has the amazing talent that he has.
Its insane that Axl was just voted world greatest singer in rolling stone magazine. I love it but it took me by surprise.

Axle has one of the best voices in rock and roll. No doubt. And he is progressively "getting better", in several ways. Way to go Mr. Rose!
He is talented and adaptable Aquarius, don't forget that.
He is!
he is so incredibly beautiful
he is so smart
Unreal Keith Richards impression at the end of this. Spot on mate!
He's a real sweet heart what a nice guy and smart 😄

"I think people are just scared of art." That's the highlight of the interview right there. Axl's surprisingly perceptive.
this was a good interview. axl's so deep....
You have to respect him for his unapologetic way of expressing his art & his truth
Oh Axl. You still rock till now!!! Smart...funny, humble, i saw him in concert in dec, and he still ROCK. Bravo
He's the whole package!!!!!!!🤗
It surprising to see this side of Axl . Here he comes across as an intelligent man who understands the situation that fame has foisted upon him. On stage he comes across as an aggressive thug.
***** well axl grew up in a abusive house hold we lets out his anger through his lyrics and his performances.
What we can see him physically is an irony of what's deep inside him.
thugs are intelligent
Human beings, what's special is that they can be something and also reflect on that something. It's like we're aware of ourselves.
Never ceased to love him! 💖💖💖
I love this interview. Sorry he didn’t do many more. I let my 3 year old granddaughter listen to their music and this is like 30 years later

I agree with Axl about the church, I have also witnessed this in my church. Sad to say it turned me and my family away.

axl is...perfect ^_^
Good interview. Thanks for uploading.
Axl reminds me of a friend of mine. He and I use to talk for hours of-like this simple philosophy.
