this is a wonderful band! Since 40 years I listen Eddie Harris and Les McCann. I saw Eddie in Switzerland and he changed my life, my soul .... I miss him! Sincerely Peter Tschirky
Yes, i agree to you, saw the two funky guys (Les McCann & Eddie Harris) in the late 1980s in Quasimodo Jazzclub in Berlin/Germany. The same result, a burning hell of groove... merry x-mas and a swinging new year, Lutz
Must have missed this one on my visits to the North Sea back in the day!...Eddie Harris is a tenor giant...those high notes.....check out "The In Sound" CD/LP from 1965 and 'Modern Licks For Sight Reading' for you tenor players!
This Concert was the last gig in the PWA Zaal on Saturday July 9th, 1988, at 01.00 hour, after midnight. I was so tired from the long concert-day, but then they began to play and I was wide-awake again. Great Les McCann. Thanks for posting.
I also was at NSJF that day but dit not know Jimmy Owens was playing too... In 1987 I visited the NSJF for the first time and bought AT the festival Jimmy Owens record "No escaping it" (1970) . His best album in my opinion 😘
lost and NOT found: i used to have a vhs tape back in the days with "listen here" performed by the band in the same night (i think).. was the most amazing version of this beloved tune. can't find it anywhere now.. anybody?
This band is outstanding! Everybody here has said it all and there is nothing more I can add. What I do want to know is what kind of trumpet is that being played or is it a trumpet, and who is the person playing it?
It was an honor to perform with these GIANTS!!!!
