You have to pay to perform at the Super Bowl, they don’t ask. They might offer, but you still have to pay. It’s seen as an epic opportunity to showcase any artist or band.
@Jeepers Creepers17 oh you can ?? id like to see you front a hardcore/metal band !! its not "easy" or anything of the sort.. i am a metal vocalist and trust me it takes alot of practice to scream
Heck yeah. And let’s stop and give some props to Nate, who is terribly underrated as a bass player. He is always solid as a rock, and doesn’t mind laying in the cut and chilling.
I'm the biggest led zep fan, and his solo on rock and roll at the Kennedy centre honours for led Zeppelin was up there emotionally and better technically than Jimmy Pages.
The end of this clip marks why Howard is the best presenter of the last decades , real emotions , no show , real passion. RIP Leslie , thumbs up for Leslie, Howard and Foo Fighters
Rest in peace Leslie West the man who wrote Mississipi Queen,The nan who creat mountain,The man who inspire generations of guitarists and musician (Jimi Hindrix-Randy Rhoads-Slash...)
I remember watching the foos in the early 2000s, seeing Dave singing songs like monkey wrench and breakout like there's no tomorrow and thinking... This guy's voice won't last long. Here I am, decades later, seeing how wrong I was and what a legend is Dave Grohl.
@@OlinKreutzRules yup, he has a huge reputation since Nirvana (which is obviously) but it’s really cool he kept staying in the same spotlight when he started this band even he didn’t mean to do that.
This is rock n roll in a pure form. Amazing. Leslie, we still listen to you and dance. I look at that wry smile and I remember that the sun will come up tomorrow. Thank you for giving us joy.
I've sung this song many times, and it is a vocal cord ripper. Well done. And I always appreciate how stoked the Foos are by rock and roll. Fly that flag.
Awesome, induct Leslie and mountain into the hall of fame please. That dude is The Godfather of metal and should be inducted. And don’t forget he played at freaking Woodstock
One of my favorite songs to play on the drums.moved on to learning guitar this year(38 y/o),guess this is the next song to learn. Foo fighters cover this song very well. I can't deecribe how good this is

They are totally insane!!!
The fact the Foo Fighters haven't been asked to perform at the Super Bowl is criminal.
Especially after Price covered them when he did his epic Superbowl performance.
You have to pay to perform at the Super Bowl, they don’t ask. They might offer, but you still have to pay. It’s seen as an epic opportunity to showcase any artist or band.
So true!!
They have been, but they’ve rejected it, cause they know it’s all pure marketing!
Lol they’ve rejected it. They’ve been asked.
The passion Taylor had playing the drums is unmatched. Rest in peace to a beyond talent musician.
💯
He is channeling Corky Laing!
@@brianeardley1329yah i felt that too
Nonsense, check out Keith Moon
Not quite unmatched. Have you seen his son playing my hero at the Taylor tribute show?
You gotta give props to the Howard Stern studio. This sounds excellent.
Taylor’s drums sound soooo good. His kick hits so hard!
Real masters of audio capture
It's part of the deal...Howard's been having live music forever.
agreed...superb mix always.
I watch many on Howard Stern show. excellent!
Dave those vocals, holy moly that is good.
Surprised the hell outta me, too!
All that rest from touring seems to have benefited Dave’s vocals for sure
@Jeepers Creepers17 not everyone can scream properly or sound good
you guys ever hear of Probot ????
@Jeepers Creepers17 oh you can ?? id like to see you front a hardcore/metal band !! its not "easy" or anything of the sort.. i am a metal vocalist and trust me it takes alot of practice to scream
Whomever did the final audio mix for this deserves a Grammy... and a medal. Absolutely stellar.
Howard Sterns studios are the best, great acoustics for this studio and engineering... whoever plays there sounds amazing if they have talent.
Chris's solos were on the quiet side
@@chrisfactmanolitsis5070 Thanks. I thought something was wrong with my audio when I seen everyone raving about the mix.
thats how you properly mix a fucking good bass tone.
noticed that too. the bass tone is always great on howard stern show performances.
Heck yeah. And let’s stop and give some props to Nate, who is terribly underrated as a bass player. He is always solid as a rock, and doesn’t mind laying in the cut and chilling.
They just plug the bass into the line in for Howard's voice mic...the tone is already set.
I was just going to type that. The sound is amazing
fr that bass is nasty!!
Taylor is beating those drums like they owe him money.
Fuck yeah dude!
oh, fuck yes he is...dude is a BEAST!
he learned to be an loan shark from the best
fuck yeah dude
Like they owe him money and they kicked his dog. he's crazy good.
Dave has the right vocals to do this song justice.
Dave's guitar is just a prop.
God I love Chris Shiflett's playing. The guy is so underrated.
I know! He’s quiet AF, yet plays like the biblical beast!
Yeah
His playing has come along was since No Use for a Name.
Yeah is great
A buddy and I were just talking about Chris and how underrated he is. F'in great!
I love when Chris actually gets to play a real solo. He's a damn good guitar player, but not many foo songs give him a chance to really show it
Very very true 🎸
Long Road to Ruin - my fave FF guitar solo song
Couldn’t have said it any better
hes played some van halen at some shows and omggg def confirms it for me!
I'm the biggest led zep fan, and his solo on rock and roll at the Kennedy centre honours for led Zeppelin was up there emotionally and better technically than Jimmy Pages.
What a band. They can play pretty much anything they want and sound awesome. Taylor Hawkins is a beast.
Great point. Agreed. If you're going to replace the drummer for Nirvana, you know Dave is going to pick a masterful gem.
Taylor is *definitely* Animal in human form. 😛
Damn, just damn...
was*
This is honestly an incredible version.
These dudes literally never disappoint.
“This one is for Leslie, and Jew”
Dave with the subtle pun
We wore out many a 8 tracks listening to Mountain. This brought a tear to my eye.
The end of this clip marks why Howard is the best presenter of the last decades , real emotions , no show , real passion.
RIP Leslie , thumbs up for Leslie, Howard and Foo Fighters
RIP Taylor. That smile while masterfully drumming is missed
The Energy that this songs brings out of the people playing it, and the people listening to it is absolutely phenomenal

He did go through a rough patch a few years back, but his voice seems to have come back a lot now.
ever hear of probot ??
Mississippi Queen.
Foo Fighters.
OK, let's do this.
Sam Kinison also did a cover of it that was badass too.
I was just listening to Mississippi Queen last night. Epic.
ditto...something made me look up live mountain and I wanted to hear Leslie live. the song is an American classic
Taylor had such finesse AND power.
great cover!
Fine tribute to Leslie West and this bona fide rock CLASSIC. Nice to see a new generation recognise the great, underrated Mountain.
Foo Fighters did this song in immense justice, an awesome tribute to Leslie West!

Howie's studio tech audio team are amazing.
Absolutely Killed it. It’s NO wonder why the Foo Fighters are in a league of their own. R.I.P. Leslie.
Drums were just about spot on with the original mountain drummer's.

RIP Leslie West... this cover of “Mississippi Queen” was a great tribute to Mountain’s frontman!
I've sung this song many times, and it is a vocal cord ripper. Well done. And I always appreciate how stoked the Foos are by rock and roll. Fly that flag.
Chris Shifflett is definitely underrated as a guitar player. A fantastic guitarist.
This is amazing! Dave is definitely giving his all to honor West and it's great! That drummer is tearing it up too!
Absolute, undeniable proof that Dave and the boys will totally kick ass on any song they play... 🤘🤘
You know you are a force of nature when foo fighters give their whole and still sound tame. Leslie you are missed indeed.
I love pat vibing to the song and jumping up and down
That's a monster of a song, and the only way to make that work is to be all in and leave nothing behind, and they did it 1000%. F-in A.
Dave rocks everything he comes into contact with, he's an amazing and legendary musician!
Another Epic Rock Song covered by the Foos! R.I.P. Leslie and Taylor!!
Damn, Taylor had such awesome energy on drums :(
They should do an album where they cover classics of rock.
An Utterly Awesome performance in honor of the Legend Leslie West!! Yeah!!!!!! *******
Freaking Awesome! RIP Leslie! ✌

Dave's voice keeps getting better. I don't know how he does it.
Such a great cover & Howard loves Mountain & Leslie West (RIP)

Ho Li Fook......This is one rocking cover. Great job Fighters of Foo...God Bless Mr West.
Hawkins has to be one of the best drummers around..... He works this song really, really well and makes it his own

most down to earth "rock stars" ever. A denim shirt? No affectation whatsoever. Love it
Dam they killed this song!!!! I hope they release it.
One of our best rock bands covering one of our best historic rock bands ever! Thanks!
Grohl's vocals are perfect on this.
I liked his guitar playing! 🎸
