Mike Boyd made a video recently on learning to ride a Penny farthing cycle but he never showed how he got off. You helped satisfy that curiosity of mine, thank you sir 😄
Okay, now that I see you climbing on I see it’s not as impossible as I had thought. The dang thing is as tall as a full grown man! I used to think these bicycles weren’t even real, just something they made up for comedy’s sake, “haha the old days were so crazy”. But by god, there you go riding one.
The great thing about these bikes and the fact that they come in multiple sizes so you can have one that's a lot taller or much shorter depending on how experienced you are
Nice demo mate, but that is one dangerous piece of kit! Not surprised it went the way of the dinosaurs though I'm proud it was invented in my home country ;)
No, unfortunately my uncle died riding this. He flew off the handlebars and landed in a tree and before the fire department could rescue him he fell from the branch and hit his head dying on impact. LOL! 😂 Hasnt happened to me yet! #Pennytips
The thought of getting off of these contraptions has mystified me, and always struck me as being physically impossible, at least without sustaining a lot of pain.
I was wondering how people got off that thing😂
SAME
...but you didn’t wonder how they got on?
@@zebatov nope
I always thought they leaned it on a wall.

Good boy.
Gracias
This thing has literally been the world's biggest mystery to me when I was 3.
And just think, we didn't have to find the right section in the encyclopedia and read it for answers. I love youtube.
That’s why I found this video. My 5 year old said the same thing 😂
"its very easy to ride"
"I have gone over the handlebars twice"
hmmmmm...
I've gone over the bars on my bmx bike more times than I can count... especially after the concussion.
@@wheeltrouble 😬
The handlebars are at about the average height of a rider, so going over them at any speed must hurt like a lot
@@TheNeshkey its a wonder he hasn't broken his collar bone.
Yes!
I want one soo badly, and ride it to school with a full tux, top hat, monocle, and handlebar mustache.
Genius.
And say in an English accent, "Toodlooo......Bitch"
I'm English so I would have a cup of tea in my hand also a couple crumpets while riding this
I hope you've changed since then but I doubt it.
Why would you want one
Looks much easier than I first thought!
Takes some practice!
Just like riding a bike... a very dangerous wobbly bike that can break your neck and generally mangle you up in a fraction of a second.
@@Georgieastra is it safe to use on urban areas tho
@violet hill how urban? Like 'stay strapped' urban?
@@violethill4454What about being in an urban area would change any of what he just said? Do you really need someone to tell you?

Thank you!
Same here! - I've wondered for years and now I finally know!
This guy was ahead of his time with the fashion game
In my nightmares, I'd be riding bicycles as high as an elephant. It'd be like my nightmares come true😅
Always wondered how people got on these things! Great video, thanks!
Can't hear a thing he says, but fascinating bike.
Must not have your listening ears on Mark
This whole video feels so peaceful, i kind of wanna be there
its america, there is no peace there
Thank you for the video! Power of internet - finally I know how you get on and off :) Really appreciate that!

That was an awesome video!! Thank you for satisfying my interest!
I would probably fall off and break the thing
Nah, the bike would be fine, not so sure about your skull though!
The great thing about these bikes and the fact that they come in multiple sizes so you can have one that's a lot taller or much shorter depending on how experienced you are
I was always wondering how they ride this.. now it looks really simple.
@f1vlad
I guess that any braking is via the pedals, and that's what might have pitched you over the bars?
I'm watching "The Guilded Age" on Netflix and I started wondering how you board and get off of one of those bikes. Thank you for the lesson. 👍🏻
Damn, thanks for this video! I was wondering about this
Lol love the reflector on the back. Its weird seeing a penny farthing with a reflector.
awesome! looks so majestic. Like u would ride a beautiful horse.
Best regards
Now city of Karlsruhe in Germany is celebrating 200 anniversary of invention of bicycle. You can see this thing in downtown.
Hahahahahahhahahahaha “...and it hurts very much.”
Please do wear a helmet in future. Thanks for showing us how to ride!
Is there a link to a website where you got this bike?
Very graceful riding.
That’s what my husband says to me! LOL! 😂 #Love #Peace #Pennyfarthing
Just got one myself. LOVE IT.question, did you break in the lather saddle that came with it?If so, any tips?

Dude needs to take it on the vert ramp or the half pipe that would be sick

At the end I started to think of Marcus Brody in The Last Crusade. "How do you get off this thing?"
OMG! I need to get hold one of this!
you don't need. you'll get hurt
You handled it very nicely.
He can handle me 😂
Nice video!
That is so cool !! I want to ride one. .
I grew up wondering how people got on and off this shit. Thank you for solving one of my life long mysteries
how do you brake when going down hill?
Is it fixed gear ?
Yess..super ride..🤗🤗
Well done mate!
78er's are the thing. Upgrade with a dropper post and a slacker head tube for plush downhill rides
The ultimate Chad.
Do you have to lean backwards before using the brake?
Tim Lewis There aren't any brakes
2012, before the affordable boom mic. Nice tutorial.
The original fixie bike.
What do you do when you brake?
great sound, nearly hear
Un genio. Buenísima! Es original o réplica? ? Yo había hecho una hace muchos años acá en rosario. Argentina
Cyanide and happiness led me here.

It feels like with practice about the similar amount of risk as riding, mounting, and dismounting as a horse imo!
No brakes! Definitely not for Wales. Too many hills.
If u put the big wheel on the back it will overcome gravity on a hill & will be like cycling on a flat road with straight back
Organic brakes or breaks for stopping quickly.
Now all we need is a recumbent version.
Hang on! those pedals / hub is fixed? Like a fixie!!? Right??!!
sweet. i'm looking to get one of these myself.
Did you ever get one?
Did u
Your wisdom is overwhelming!
I have a crush on him 😊
spokes are amazing it hurts my eyes
Well done! Helmet? Yes.
Helmet yes.

I see one of those bikes drive by my school in Mansfield Massachusetts
LOL
You ever take it off any sweet jumps?
I bet he can get 3 feet of air
Yes, all the time, backflips, too.
Even though it's a regular bike in the movie, why do I keep hearing "Rain Drops keep fallin on your Head"?
I'd like to see someone try to ride one of those in London.
Haha, the potholes would be a killer!
do a bunny hop XD
Very cool. Now ride a wheelie!
So how do you get down?
I'd be terrified, what if a kid or dog gets in the way? how do you react?

“Discretionary income”
Absolutely not. You must be living in a ghetto.
I wish I lived there
how tall are you im little over six feet will it be my size.
Frijo1 you should fit this. They make smaller bikes for shorter people.
