The wordplay in this song is incredible. When you have smatterings like "From the RED Sea to GREENland they'll be singin' the BLUES," and "Her itinerary's loaded with moving violations," that shows impeccable command of the language and the word's inherent lyricism.
It's a serious earworm and a pinpoint of nostalgia for many of us, but upon examination it's also a clever little tune sung by a very talented vocal group. I don't think it gets enough credit.
I was too young to appreciate the wordplay back then but "She put the "miss" in misdemeanor when she stole the beans from lima" has got to be my favorite line.

Best gameshow theme song ever! I'm not a 90's kid, but I am a 90's parent. I watched that gameshow more than my son did. More to just hear Rockapella sing.
As a kid I never fully appreciated how good the song actually was. Now after revisiting it 20 years later, I finally realize the impact this song has. Maybe it's the nostalgia talking, but this song was incredible back then, and it still kicks ass two decades later. Wow I love this song. Beautiful!
well also, those of us growing up on reruns of 80s shows were DOUSED in great theme songs. that was just a brief period of time when every TV show had to have something radio-ready for the theme, whether or not it was warranted or even appropriate for the show. Only once we grew up and found out what was made when did we realize how brief that was. now there's no theme songs at all, takes up too much commercial time (or gets tedious when binging)
I am here listening now and love it. And yet I never watched the show and only heard this for the first time a couple of years ago. So it isn't just nostalgia. It is a great tune!
This is one of the most addictive songs with how fun it is. I used to play the OG game on the Commadore 64, complete with the World Almanac, then got to watch the show and the cartoon. This game is the reason I always aced Geogrsphy and World History classes in school.
GREAT acapella - "Rockapella" kept the lyrics, tempo & miter, the flux of highs & lows that WERE/ARE the song known so well to so many. It is not an interpretation but an extension of that virtual Tree of Life that was TV of the 1990's ~ BRAVO!
Today my 8 year old asked me "where the heck did you get that from?" I miss rockapella. This song will be in his head for life. Parenting..... Winning it

@@NEAmarillo79107 The gameshow debuted in 1991, so it was for the first two years of the show. After that, they didn't use that part that started with "From Nashville" on TV and used "Botswana to Thailand" when it got to that part of the song.
