Tutorial on how to use Virglrenderer using Virt-Manager would be great. Virglrenderer allows you to use 3D graphics acceleration which means you can run Photoshop, Premiere, 3DS Max, etc. and some 3D games.
I watched your current QUEMU video yesterday and I am stoked! AS a heavy Virtual Box user (agh, don't judge me) , I am ready and anxious to move onto QEMU. As always your content is the Shiznit!

Please note that closing the session and starting it again should be enough after adding $USER to libvirt and libvirt-qemu groups. Also, you may want to *sudo apt install --no-install-recommends qemu-kvm libvirt-clients libvirt-daemon-system bridge-utils libguestfs-tools* if you want to avoid installing extra packages you won't actually be using. YMMV.
I use a QEMU/KVM host in a dual boot with Virtualbox host, both Ubuntu Mate. I run the virtual machines from a ZFS storage pool on a 2008 HP dc5850 upgraded with a Phenom II CPU. Some remarks: - Virtualbox has a better user interface. - Virtualbox is more robust. - QEMU/KVM is considerably faster with respect to disk IO (~25-40%). - Virtualbox is a little bit faster with the guest graphics drivers (~10%). - QEMU/KVM is very poor with respect to the CPU types supported. The last point is a deal breaker for me, even on the original PC, I can't get Windows activated on QEMU/KVM due to this CPU issue, while on Virtualbox it is activated normally and afterwards I can move it to my i5 laptop too without any problems. My Windows XP Vbox virtual machine has survived almost 10 years on at least 5 different desktops/laptops.
@@ChrisTitusTech Could you activate Windows? My PC has a Windows Vista Sticker and I could not get it activated in QEMU/KVM. My real CPU is a Phenom II X4 B97, but QEMU is selecting Opteron processors and that stopped any chance of getting Vista activated. Virtualbox just uses the name, characteristics and instruction sets of the host CPU and that is a far superior solution. The French (or Wallons) would call the QEMU solution: Bricolage.
@@bertnijhof5413 Great question, OEM licenses from stickers do not carry over to virtualization typically. Once Microsoft detects a hardware change (physical to virtual) it will not allow you to reactivate. Are you trying to activate Vista? I'd probably move to Windows 7 at this point as Vista is End of Life (EOL). Here is a Win 7 license from Amazon amzn.to/2rpHUM7
@@ChrisTitusTech I never had problems activating Windows in Virtualbox as long as I did it on the original PC. It worked on older PCs and currently it worked on my i5 laptop with its Windows 7 sticker and it worked on my AMD desktop with a Windows Vista sticker. On QEMU/KVM it did not work.
I added my user to libvirt-qemu rebooted and my HOST OS (Mint) is now broken? Seems like some kind of recovery mode with no UI (which I can still start through startx), no audio, no graphics drivers. Shows some bunch of errors about AppArmor profiles, VM registration services and PCIe bus.
how do you connect usb devices (such as a phone) to the virtual os? I am using qemu kvm and I am stuck. Could you help me, or make a tutorial about it?

Hi bro do you encounter an error msg " Unable to init server: Could not connect: Connection refused" after trying on virt-manager ? Any way to solve this ?
4:06 am not useing gnome, still have this problem, do what you do. NO CONNECTION. I am infuriated. What am I doing wrong?! Why is this harder than installing a distro?
I installed KVM/QEMU MacOS on my machine. Let's just say things did not go well (everything in Linux is painful). I modified the screen resolution (to the wrong values of course) using EFI/Clover/config.plist. When I tried to go back and reconfig the initial values the file wouldn't open inside of text edit (of course it wouldn't). So after searching for almost a day trying to find a solution to my problem I decided to erase the vm hard disk and reinstall MacOS. Well this didn't work either (of course not). Apparently the changes I made were written to the system files never to be altered again. Now I am simply disgusted and want to remove this flaming hot POS from my machine and recover the wasted disk space (100G on a 1T drive allocated to the VM because I was really expecting to use it). Naturally given the negative experience that I am already having with this process I am cautious not to compound my pain and dig an even deeper hole for myself. Could you be so kind as to point me in the right direction?
I know this feedback is kinda pointless at this stage but I have to say... I clicked on this video really wanting to know about QEMU but at the end I'm really confused about what this video was actually doing!
