I feel like also, I’m not responsible for how someone sees me, I don’t have to tell anyone I’m trans. It’s weird how the way you’re treated is based on what gender you are.
As someone who is stealth and cis passing with almost anyone I’m not close with, this totally hits the nail on the head. You know subconsciously that you’re only receiving respect under the contingency of them not knowing you’re trans. I always try to remind myself of the struggles of non passing or more gender fluid people as well - once you hit the stage of fully passing it can be easy to forget that experience and I never want to.
Navigating gender discourse as a cis-passing trans man is so weird sometimes. I feel weird talking about women's rights in spaces where I'm stealth because I don't to inadvertently look like I'm mansplaining even though I'm actually talking about my own experiences lmao. I definitely feel like people take me more seriously or listen to me more in conversations now that I pass, but I try to just be congnizant of that and use my privilege to lift up others. If I see someone else who isn't as easily able to add to the discussion, I prompt for their input etc. It's such a strange double-edged sword
Gender in Society was an interesting class. Gave some food for thought on how Western society favors masculinity, which helps to understand why MTF people face more violence than those who are FTM

Can you tell me the medical terms you used to get an aesthetic and more realistic chest. I also dont want to settle for the extremely flat, unnecessarily deep scarred shapeless. chest. I want a sculpted cut with a little meat left over to look like a pec. These drs will just cut you up.

This reminds me of being pre-t and just assuming everyone in marching band knew I was trans, even though I didn't tell anyone. Turns out, they did not and simply thought I was a late bloomer lol (I was 14)
