    Thank you so much for the great videos. I already started taking my cat outside before your videos, but with you tips the experience got much better. I'm just left with one question. When going for a walk or even hiking how much can or will a cat realistically walk? She likes to sit on my shoulder so it's not a big problem but I'm curious if Mia for example walks most of the time or if you carry her most of the time?
    Greetings from Emma and me :)

    Thank you so much for your videos, they showed me that having a cat and traveling is in fact possible :)
    What about gear puncturing, though? How can you make sure the cat doesn't stick its nails on the camping mat when roaming around the tent?
    I am planning some days-long hike in the mountains, and I need to take my cat with me or give up the plan. She is 3-months-old and seems a natural to outdoors, harness and leash, but I am a little concerned about the cold and gear puncturing inside the tent.
    Is it not advisable to go on more or less extreme hikes with cats?

    • @OutdoorBengal
      @OutdoorBengal  Год назад

      Tents usually have 2 layers right? the inner layer can be punctured without causing major impact (from what I know).
      I think you should be fine! I can't wait to go camp with her!

    I have a Maine coon who’s a year and 4 months old (he’s already bigger than normal domestic cats) I was wondering what harness and lead you would recommend? Would the harness and lead you use with Mia be suitable? The long thick rope you use looks like it would work pretty well so was also wondering if you can get it from a pet store or somewhere else?
    Thanks I’m advance and keep up the great work with Mia, love your videos 😊

  • @fkitty444
    @fkitty444 Год назад

    Safety Tip: when tent camping. If on the ground, put your belongings along the inside walls of the tent. My brother in laws dog tried to kill our cat thru the tent. It grabbed a stuffed seal and rang its neck. Cat was inches from it. If u watch an animal with kill intent, their facial expression will change as well, from sly to outright evil. But few people notice animal expressions.
    Dog owners in US generally think dog aggression is cute until its too late, esp. if small. But many small dogs are ratters, and kill with technique, not size, and not cute. Putting our gear against the walls as a barrier provided some safety, vanning or car camping, or beneath vehicle blocking would be safer for kitty, just watch the heat, a doggy friend would probably also protect their little buddies. Socializing your cat with other cats and dogs would probably benefit them as well.
    Good luck, and good camping!

    What harness do you use? I take my cat to the backyard and on short walks, but he can easily get out of the harness, even though it's tight. I want to make sure, at least for the first few trips, that he can't escape his harness.

    • @OutdoorBengal
      @OutdoorBengal  Год назад

      You are not the first person to ask this! :)
      The cat harness that I use is very light yet escape-proof. It has a small chest pad to protect the cat when they pull and a self-restricting mechanism that gently snugs the cat when they try to slip out.
      The harness is available for sale on: amzn.to/42khwDA

    • @OutdoorBengal
      @OutdoorBengal  2 года назад +6

      Now I’d love to see your tents! Haha
      On a different note… Cats should NEVER be declawed! Trimming the nails is more than enough!

    • @InimitaPaul
      @InimitaPaul 2 года назад +1

      @@OutdoorBengal Oh absolutely, I’d never declaw her, they’re a part of her and she uses them to defend and express herself. I don’t even trim them, she’s an indoor/outdoor cat and takes care of them herself. It’s not something we generally do in the UK but I do see it done a lot by North American’s here on RUclips to protect their furniture etc.
      With regard to my tent’s, I have a Fjallraven Abisko Lite 2, a Amok Drauma XL and a Luxe Minipeak XL with titanium wood stove. They’re one of my more expensive hobbies along with carpentry, electrical engineering and electronics. A man cannot survive on cat’s alone lol

      I’m not a cat expert, but he sounds fearful aggressive. You could try inviting people over and have the cat come to them instead of them invading his space. If he approaches let that person carefully toss a treat to him so he associates new people with good things. (Basically what you do for a dog)

    How can you teach your cat to trust you for protection. I walk my cat since she was a baby, she's an outgoing bengal cat... But she is scared of dogs and other animals. Recently 2 loose dogs ran at her on a trail and it was a big mess.. If she just trusted me to protect her we would've had no problems.. I dont think a cat will ever go against their own instincts though. Had I not wrestled my cat to not freak out, she would've been lost in the bush already because she will come out her harness during freakout mode. I've been on a forever search for an escape proof harness

Chevs was raised with her Brother Monkey from 8 week old kittens by my now 11 year old amstaff Abee, but I've had mix breed cats, mostly tabby or moggy, Chevs has this cattatude problem where 1 minute she all sweet, loving nice, next she a furry spawn of satan, full on evil, hissing, spitting, attacking Abee no reason will hang on to Abee & bite, scratch & screaming, she has even attacked me, bailing me under blankets & in bathroom with Abee while she attacked the door. She lost her brother when they were 6 months old, Monkey got ran over, but Chevy was & still is given everything...is this a Bengal behaviour? Or is Chevy a furry demon?
