How To Upgrade The Speaker In A Bachmann Class 47 With DCC Sound

I've done another how to video. This time it's about upgrading the speaker in the Bachmann class 47. It also covers using a 21 pin adaptor if you are using an 8 pin decoder.

That double iPhone speaker is 4 ohm I think, so which 8 pin decoder can be fitted with it?

The decoder I used in the video was a loksound decoder

I didn't quite understand your 8 pin adaptor modification. How did this allow the body to sit down?

It just means the adaptor can sit as low as possible. A few people have said it’s hard to get 21 pin adaptors in the 47 so I just did it to be on the safe side, it might have been ok without, I never tried.

@@roadsandrails I, when planning to fit a TTS decoder to the Bachmann 47, was advised a more drastic modification to the adaptor was needed.
(Strathpeffer Junction and others) so your method would have ben much simpler)

hi richard saw you at sheffield last year when you put an 8 pin chip in does the spkr have to be connected to the decoder and not the terminals on the chassis cheers mark

john webster it does yeah, it’s because none of the 8 pins carry the speaker signal. On a 21 pin decoder 2 of the pins are the speaker wires.

thanks plan to upgrade later on with the iphone spkr i got from you i think another question for you just got 21 pin cl37 and ried to fit the sound chip from the 37 europhoenix with a double i phone spkr tight fit it is problem is all works except the cab lights only the rear cab lights up but when i put the original one back both cab lights work

You might have to take the fan assembly out, if the cab lights don't work it suggests the contacts aren't touching properly, if the body is sitting. bit too high that's probably why.

Hello, my name is tony seager, I have tried many times to fit a Tts decoder into a Bachmann 47, via an adapter but I keep blowing up the decoder, I have the Tts decoder, and an adapter, if I was to send you the loco, Tts and decoder, would you be able to fit the adapter, Tts decoder for me, and make the adaption work for me please, and you can replace the speaker too if you wish, could you let me know please ?
