And again….Steve Martin and John Candy are geniuses so it’s not a surprise that Planes, Trains, and Automobiles was a scarcely written script that turned into one of the most iconic movies ever made!! RIP John Candy!! We lost a king when he passed away!!
FYI the actress in Invasion of the Body Snatchers was Veronica (not Nancy) Cartwright. Actress Nancy Cartwright is best known for voicing Bart Simpson.
Yes I was confused about that too. I even looked up Nancy Cartwright and the Body Snatchers too, to confirm if this was her.
I just came on to say that 😅
FYI I believethe narrator calls her Nancy because that is her character’s name in the movie, Nancy Bellicic.
Veronica Cartwright has had a couple honest scares in her movies. The one in Invasion of the Body Snatchers and the other when the alien came popping out of John Hurts chest in Alien, both were surprises to her.
From what I remember about that, the alien bursting out of the chest was not a surprise. They had to prepare a pretty sophisticated setup where the actor had a fake chest and his body was under the table. So there's no way the cast didn't know about it. What WAS a surprise was how much fake blood and gore was going to shoot out and cover the actors' faces, which is what caused them to react the way they did...
Seriously. That poor woman. As an actor, I would be pissed that my directors didn't trust me enough to do my job. "Surprising" actors like that is just a shitty thing to do. And it was done to her twice.
@@TalkingHands308 the blood spray was what I meant, sorry for not being more specific.
How did The Graduate not make this list?! After they board the bus, the two actors had no idea the director was going to leave the camera rolling. That's why their excitement quickly fades to uncertainty. And became one of the best endings of all time.
You guys really dropped the ball.
Maybe cause the director on that day wasn't the main one and they didn't call cut when they were suppose to. The director themselves didn't even know it was going to end that way the main director and editor decided to use it as the ending after the fact so it doesn't fit the list as well as others
Oh that was a good one. Funny how it wasn't intended but the director was like "actually the realism tho"
When I watched Captain Philips with my family, I looked at my dad and asked "Those are real medics aren't they?" He was in the Coastguard, and I have done a lot of training with medics/ first responders.
Love Pearl. That movie was phenomenal. I still can’t believe that Mia Goth didn’t get her Oscar for that movie. Truly shameful
I'm pretty sure poor Martin Sheen was convinced Apocalypse Now was never going to end...
That scene from Captain Phillips may be the best piece of acting I've ever seen. I think it helps that it's filmed in such a naturalistic way. It was refreshing to see a movie actually deal with the emotional consequences of a traumatic experience. Usually, a character is "saved" and that's the end of the film. But that's not what people experience in real life. Hanks was able to convey what a real survivor would have experienced.
This was an amazing list! Loved it!
I could not imagine any different ending to Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. It's perfect.
Another great countdown...I had no idea the Captain Phillips one was unplanned
Creator / producer George Lucas told director Irving Kershner the real dialogue at the last minute . He told noone else . And at Mark Hamill's last minute , Irving told Mark what the real dialogue would be . So , again at the last minute , James Earl Jones found out the real dialogue when he was doing the voiceover .
Not a movie but worth mentioning here: In the last episode of the 3rd season of M*A*S*H no one on the set ('cept Alan Alda) knew Col. Blake was going to die! "Radar" was given a script only two minutes before shooting! (The take was not perfect- an off-camera thud can be heard- but they knew they'd never get the reactions that fresh again.)
"Tee West" ... c'mon guys, do your research 😂😂😂
Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 had a similar story to Gladiator, where Philip Seymour Hoffman, whose character was something of a mentor to Katniss, died during production and so they had Haymitch read her a letter from him in a pivotal scene at the end instead of having him talk to her in person.
What about The Usual Suspects? Gabriel Byrne thought it would be revealed that he was Keyser Soze.
Actually, all of the main actors were told that they were Soze.
@@MrDanwhiteside Didn't know that. Thanks!
4:16 that's no excuse for trainers
I've heard a vague rumour that the youngest actors in "The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas" knew nothing about the Holocaust before they found out what it was like through filming it. Thankfully they had people available to help them through the real trauma that followed filming that scene!
Planes trains and automobiles is great
Yes because Tom Hanks is a genius!!!! No matter what that man does he makes it gold!
He got plenty experience with shooting military footage to understand that it's always best (and succesful) to listen to the pros when you're going for realism.
The ending of Gladiator was brilliant!
Re: Captain Phillips
1) They're Corpsman, not medics.
2) The girl playing the lead corpsman with the gold anchor, was actually just a junior corpsman. The guy in the background was the actually Independent Duty Corpsman (semi-PA like) and was on vacation. Came back on the last day of filming so he got the smaller roll.
3) It's called a medical bay.
/off of soapbox now.
Role, not roll. 😏
Mia Goth is my modern Scream Queen!!!
Half expecting Casablanca on the list, as they were still writing the ending on their way to shooting it. Inngred Bergman always claimed that at that point, she still didn't know which actor Ilsa would end up with.
Pearl's monologue and prolonged demented smile at the end were truly disturbing. Can't wait for MaXXXine. And the end of Body Snatchers is stone cold classic.
I liked to see a Top Ten movies that went off the rails in it's final act. Movies like 10 Cloverfield Lane or Magnolia.
I second this! That would be so rad
So was the Darth Vader is Luke's father scene really a secret or poor planning on the director like y'all said a while ago?
Not sure if it counts but apparently the cast of Rogue One didn't know about the Vader hallway scene.
Goonies! Cast had no idea about the pirate ship.
Great video man!
Is it just me or is there some kind of audio glitching going on on the narrators mic? Sounds kinda like minor formant shifting or pitch correction
To me it sounds like they sped up her dialouge.
In the 1953 movie Stalag 17, they didn't know who the trader was going to be, since it was based on a Play that changed the trader for each performance. So it could be anyone in the main cast during the movie. The cast found when they started shooting the last day, the escape scene.
Pearl is just beautiful 😍🙌🏾
Release the 3hr45 minute cut of Planes, Trains & Automobiles!!
In the usual suspects, several of the actors thought they were going to be revealed as Keyzer Size. Gabriel Byrne what's so convinced it was him that when he saw the actual ending he walked out of the theater in disgust.
He seems like the kind of guy that would do that
The story I heard was Byrne ducked out of the movie at the end to avoid the audience which is a common practice for actors. He was told in the lobby by the director (who was also there) that he wasn't Kaiser Susey when the director told him. He didn't see the last 2 minutes until he attended a later showing.
Tee West and Veronica Cartwright, c'mon man!
I had to double check. :) ?? Marge Simpson was in Invasion of the Body Snatchers in 1978?!? Nope, VERONICA Cartwright. Hahaha
@@mike3276 Nancy Cartwright is Bart Simpson.
@@tedhaulley9885 Yup. Got my wires crossed there.. Nancy also voices Nelson and Ralph Wiggum!
6:28 the actor on the far right did not know he was gonna fall off his horse and die in the movie !
Isn’t that Michael York/D’artagnan?
@@denisebacher5040 the pudgy bald guy , roy kinnear , should have used a stunt double
He's talking about roy kinnear played eastern and servant. Everyone else said no to riding over the bridge. He did it,fell off and died. It was the 2nd movie, not the first,I think
I still can't watch the film. Roy Kinnear was a wonderful British character actor and is still sorely missed.
I was expecting to see #5, and would have put it in the comments section if it was not included.
That girl that plays Pearl looks like Aileen wuornos. I know that Spelling's probably incorrect but you know who I mean
I didn't realize Bart Simpson was in Body Snatchers.
Nancy Cartwright ?
That was my immediate response!
Why does the video sound like it's sped up!?
It was Veronica Cartwright in Invasion of the Body Snatchers, not her younger sister Angela.
Never saw Pearl, so I gotta ask. What made her become an insane killer?
How did The Usual Suspects not make this list?
Who is still watching the Mission Impossible movies? I barely got through 2 and gave up partway through 3.
Tee West? Sheesh…
Usual Suspects. Gabriel Byrne thought he was Keysor Soze all the way through filming the movie.
Veronica, not Nancy, Cartwright.
The whole secrecy thing for Darth Vader being Luke's father is pretty stupid. They released a novelized version of the movie before they released the movie. I read it, and threw the book across the room when I read "No, I am your father." It blew the surprise in the movie. The only thing that was cool about it was that I was waiting to see how others reacted to it. The whole theater (first day, about 3rd showing, everyone there waited through 2 showings to get in) was SILENT, until one guy say broke the silence with, "Oh shit."
It simply means the studio directs the film not the director
This is now the second video from you guys naming Victoria Cartwright as Nancy Cartwright. Very amateurish.
Her name is Veronica Cartwright
I didn’t realize he pronounced his first name as “Tee” rather than “Ty”
Please stop smiling at me
After the first few screw up with Tom Holland opening his mouth, he was given less and less of the real script
Veronica Cartwright, not Nancy. And the poor woman, having to go on to shoot _Alien_ and not being told about the chest bursted either. Jeez, let the poor woman just act!
And still no funeral for Natasha
Tom Hanks didn't get an Oscar nomination because he's had too many.
I still can't watch Enfgame because Starks death.
Where's Disney's The Black Hole?!
That’s funny no wonder Mia Goth looks like she’s in pain.
"TYE West", not "Tee West"...c'mon.
Analytics
most of captain Philips was fabricated anyway. The crew members spoke up about it after the film came out.
Nancy Cartwright? Nancy? Really?
i STILL think it's BS that team crap had the balls to go to Tony's funeral
OH, for Heaven's sake... everyone knows that one... CASABLANCA! All the way to the end, they did not know how they were going to wind it up. And yet it has some of the most iconic lines in the history of films... "Here's looking at you, kid..."... "...the troubles of three little people aren't worth beans in this crazy world..." "If you don't get on that plane, you'll regret it. Maybe not now, maybe not tomorrow, but soon, and for the rest of your life." "We'll always have Paris." "Louis, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship."
Actors should always know the script, not letting them in is just cruel
They're there to do a job. Sometimes keeping information from them leads to a better job.
Yeah, when I think of CRUEL working conditions, waiting on a script is right there at the top
First to the end 😂
Loser
Grow up

Just nice to be here, one of the 1st to comment and not watch a video about Trump 😀
@Niyan Lan - Storm Troopers keep coming to my house and they force me to watch Trump videos
Loser comment
It would be great if the commentator took speech classes so we could understand her.
I hate that about Marvel. I really can't watch a lot of the movies because they're so disconnected and the characters have zero continual characterization.
Nothing ruin johnson has ever done can be called brilliant.
Cry more
Nancy Cartwright?
