About the Blue Devil, If they were used for racing in America, that would be racing Greyhounds. The fastest dog breed that would chase after anything with a heart beat. If that's not the case we also have Huskys which are made for running as well. Both come in blue nose breeds. Only one of them can survive West Virginia's cold weather.
*Also "Blue" in dog breed colors refers to a dog that is pitch black or all black and their coat appears to reflect blue. So I'm also guessing the chem is derived from one of the various Alpha male wolves that roam Appalachia
The only potential issue with Greyhounds is the order of ‘first for racing, then for fighting’. Greyhounds were originally bred for hunting first. Greyhounds were most peoples go to but the devs reiterated the importance of the order lol..
Honestly I really hope they do reveal what it is, I think it could be a play on words maybe. Racing potentially being sheep herding ‘racing sheep back to the pen’ in which case a German Shepherd would fit. A dog that’s now used in police work/active warfare ‘fighting’. Husky also racing could be sled pulling.
Honestly I just like the idea that the Ogua, Blue Devil, and Sheepsquatch are actual cryptids that have been hiding from humans for centuries if not milennia, and have now started showing themselves after the end of the world. And Indrid Cold showing up just to see how we mucked up. Adds more to the mystery surrounding them.
I feel most players who just fast travel from event to event are really missing out on the real fun in the game. I have went from 0 to 120 over incumbered and have walked the whole map at least 40 times. I love the random encounters and just love walking through the woods of Appalachia enjoying the sounds of nature and the wind through the trees. I always play alone but have met the nicest people on my travels who have helped me out a bit when I needed it. I love to crank up Marshall Tucker's greatest hits album from time to time it really puts me in the traveling mood. This game rocks!
I'm planning out a cowboy/drifter character for my next build. No permanent camp, just a tent, bed, stash and cooking pot, and no fast travel. The map is lovely, so having to take your time and not be constantly chasing events and scoreboard points kind of appeals.
You sound like a new player. Not someone that came back after years and after an entire launch walking around Appalachia since that’s all there was for ages
Hey if you guys want to fight the Blue Devil or Ogua you can sometimes find them at Graninger Farms as both spawn there but he warn they are one hell of a fight
The Blue Devils description of being bred before the war for racing leads me to think of borzois dog they were bred for fast running to run down prey and fighting in the agua is more than likely an alligator snapping turtle do to be cape and it not looking like a mirelurk king which has been confirmed be from common snapping turtles
The ogua could very well be ancient, lot of turtles live for decades upon decades. A Galapagos turtle Charles Darwin kept was later owned by Steve Irwin, essentially a century later!
Oh yeah for sure I know they can live for years, I was more thinking is the insinuation that the Ogua has existed before the war. It would make it pretty unique if its a cryptid that predates the nukes I think!
I'd say the Blue Devil is more of a Dogman than a werewolf -- that is, it is just a large canine cryptid that can stand on two legs and not a man that turns into a wolf. You know, like the Beast of Bray Road or the Michigan Dogman.
I know that adding the Cryptids added something to the game but with 76 being set so early in the Fallout timeline, it poses two questions - how did they evolve so quickly and why are they either extinct from future games or only found in Appalachia?
There are a variety of possible reasons. Some Cryptids are actually supernatural, like the Mothmen and the Flatwoods monster (and maybe Ouga). And some others are experiments, like the Snallygaster and Grafton monster. The Wendigos seem to be caused by a mixture of cannibalism, radiation, and the unique chemicals in Appalachia. As for why they haven't spread, it's probably a mixture of behavior and geography. The Capital Wasteland, the Pitt, and the Commonwealth have different environments than West Virginia. So the crypids may have a difficult time adjusting to the different envious. Or they just have little motivation to active go out to the Capital Wasteland and the Commonwealth specifically. They very well could have spread to other parts that aren't the locations of Fallout 3 and 4.
@@tinaherr3856 good explanation but you'd think that as time had passed there would be more such creatures, not less.. unless they just died out and the smaller creatures thrived because they don't need to eat so much to survive. 👍
