Thanks for this Jamie! Made pesto for the first time and its delicious!! I toasted pine nuts with cashews and pumpkin seeds (good for your intestinal track). And into the blender I added all the ingredients, including a good measure of lemon and black pepper. (I made a honey jar’s worth) I had my pesto in a croissant with cheese, tomato and rocket! It was truly worth the effort, and more satisfying than shop bought. 🥰😋🥐🧀🍅🥬😋🥰
Hello guys, did someone tried to make other type of pesto then basil one? i made wild garlic pesto with cashew nuts, smoked cheese and cheddar cheese, but also will add soon more wild garlic things(salmon pate, egg spread),plus authentic lemon chicken and many more recipes, just that i joined, thanks and have a good day.
I always have coriander so I always use that and use either cashews or walnuts. I don’t tend to use cheese but I like adding a little lemon juice in the end
Spot on Jamie !! 1000%! Down here if the coast of Africa we have zero pine nuts just about but almonds and macadamias? No problem…be versatile be daring …it’s like making a salad dressing … think components/roles and which foods toda will play the nut/savoury/leafy/other role in my pesto today?
Jamieee!!!! I love it!!!! The real you 💕💕💕💕 Passionately educating all of us - thank you for providing such beautiful clarity that diversity of one dish or recipe exists - for every dish and recipe. That's the cultural history of our existence- that they're all allowed to exist simultaneously because they do - everyone will have endless versions of a recipe every time they cook it it will always be a little but different. And we should rejoice in that and share it !!! ❤💕💕💕💕💓💗💕💞💖 From somebody who loves that you use your passion to educate everyone and inspire them to try everything and every version of something they can ! To explore culture through food, and continually invent things for ourselves 💓💕💕💕💗 (and is sincerely sick of all the ridiculous gatekeeper comments from people who don't acknowledge your expertise as a chef or ever seem to be able to comprehend that you are introducing a version of a recipe to people who have never made or tried it before to encourage and educate everyone about different cultures approach to flavours, cooking methods and food 💕💕💕💕😻😘🥰😍💕💗💓
Jamie, I absolutely love the way that you open up people's minds to food! You give people concepts and techniques rather than exact recipes to follow step by step. I love it, steady on, food is fun! Cheers from Canada
I haven't watched this guy's videos in a loooooooong time. He is still my favourite but what puts me off is that if you are not rich it is hard to make his food from home so you spend all your life just watching and wishing. The equipment needed and recipes are quite expensive to get hold of.
Been doing pesto with peanuts for a while, always knew we could use different kinds of nuts for the pesto. Yet, the usage of different herbs to create more diverse variants of pesto is new to me and I'm fully into it. Next time I do pesto, things gonna get crazier haha.
Such an expensive and delicious sauce pesto is! I use it store-bought for my pastas but I wanted to make something fresh for a sandwich and boy is it pricey :D
I've always wondered how to serve pesto with Spaghetti properly. I always put a little bit pesto on my plate, then Spaghetti over it with a little bit of that water it Was cooked and then again a bit pesto on top. And then i mix everything until its completely covered. I dont know if thats the right way tho 😄
The trick is to keep it over heat while you mix it, so you remove most of the moisture and the pesto will stick to the pasta. If the pesto has a lot of oil in it, or you add too much pasta water, the pesto will just end up at the bottom of your pan.
I made pesto before. Only then will you realise how expensive "pine nuts" are and that you may require all the leaves from 1½ basil plants. No wonder nut substitutes are used in the commercial Pesto (read the label on your pesto jar). 😢
@AlissaSss23 Sesame seeds? No way. Can't you wait till you can get cashews, walnuts, or something else. The Pesto i made with fresh basil, good olive oil, pine nuts, and parmesan was quite memorable. I haven't purchased commercial green pesto since 2018 because I only want home-made now. 😅😅
Can you use this pesto for pasta. I'm looking for alternatives to use for pasta that are healthier besides the typical tomato sauce marinara sauce Alfredo sauce etc
Jamie when you going to cook with something different/ interesting? We've done oxtail etc, which has come into vogue What about opening the British mind, you have an effect, tongue, chicken hearts, pigs trotters I know you want to
I genuinely love and respect Jamie Oliver. He seems like he's a man with a golden heart. Thanks so much for this beautiful video Jamie.

So interesting, I had no idea it was possible to use different nuts and herbs, I can't wait to experiment now! Great video, love Jamie's enthusiasm.

Pesto is one of my favorite things. I love cilantro pesto too.

Watching this for the second time while eating the Pesto I made myself an hour ago. 👍
Awesome so you can mix the fresh herbs. Basil and mint ❤❤❤
Very inspiring! I'm ready to try my own variations now.
Mmm yum that’s looks absolutely delicious 😋

Always been a *huge* fan of Mr. Oliver. I especially enjoy his cameo on South Park 😏
(But seriously, huge fan)
Very Interesting!! Cooking with you is always!! 😊
I made pesto before. Only then will you realise how expensive "pine nuts" are and that you may require all the leaves from 1½ basil plants.
No wonder nut substitutes are used in the commercial Pesto (read the label on your pesto jar). 😢
You can also not put pine nuts in it, the recipe with them is genovese but other recipes don't have them. 😊
Pistachio nuts are a good alternative
Just use any nuts you have handy. I'm adding sesame seeds today as I have no nuts at home
@entertainmentchannel8494 just as expensive, so what's the point???
@AlissaSss23 Sesame seeds? No way. Can't you wait till you can get cashews, walnuts, or something else.
