I did some digging, the only english word besides xiphias I found was xiphoid meaning "sword-like". The etymology of the greek is contested, perhaps from semitic origins.
@@dustindavis55 Thank you for sharing that! “Xiphoid” certainly looks like it also comes from ξιφος to me, but I have just seen the same thing as you (that the etymology is uncertain), and we do sometimes get words that just coincidentally resemble Greek words. But “xiphoid” at least _potentially_ comes from Greek :) Thanks again for your comment!
