    Out of curiosity, how does a machine sense a damaged or failed tool? Around 55 years ago I worked as a draftsman for a machine tool design company. They designed tools used for the mass production of automotive equipment, such as engine blocks. They used things like air pressure sensors to determine if, say, a drill bit broke. There were also operators watching for broken cutters or telltale signs of a damaged tool.
    The machines you use to cut run at much greater speeds, tool changes are automatic, flood cooling obstructs visibility, and automation lets the operator move away from the machine.
    How do you know that damaged tools are not ruining the parts being machined?

    • @Glenrok
      @Glenrok Год назад

      A load meter, generally. You can set minimum and maximum load limits in the controller for every tool, or only those tools of most concern, or none at all if you wish.

    Do you guys use vericut for simulation of the code now Sandvik bought CGtech, making it part of the mastercam family? I've had some issues with mastercam simulation, where the cimco post was flipping the bed the opposite direction than mastercam simulation thought it was in simultaneous five axis moves. Another level of verification would give me real peace of mind for high end machines like the Heller.
