    This was going to be my first Haslab. I absolutely love Robbie Reyes and ever since they teased that the project was going to be related to Robbie’s Ghost Rider, I was beyond excited. I still have yet to back it, and I don’t think I ever will. That price is just WAY too high. Now if the tiers were Carter Slade and his horse, and Danny Ketch and his bike, that $350 would’ve been more than justified in my opinion. Sadly that’s not the case. Great points Anthony.

Seeing 20 bucks legends figures is out. They will stop making marvel figures before they revert back to the lower price. And like ptb said the car has no sound, low paint, they didn't pay a license for the car brand, the led is going ro be dim cause it's one light piping to the tires and front. Also there's no diecast metal. The figures ate repaints. Whoever backs this is an idiot.

    I think Hasbro saw how people factored the bonus tiers into the, "value" of a Haslab (since that makes sense from the customer's perspective), but they took advantage of that and priced this at the perceived value for the project + all tiers being unlocked from the very beginning.

      They definitely did and then some. It STILL wouldn't equal $350 with the planned stretch goals. The car looks no more than $125 if it were on shelves. The figure looks about $15-$20, but about $25 due to the current Marvel Legends pricing. About 3-4 extra tiers worth of figures would be about $250... A whole $100 less when going the "tier value" route.

    • @TheMattTrakker
      @TheMattTrakker Год назад +9

      @@ReeceHoward06 I don't necessarily disagree with your valuation, but you're low based on current Hasbro prices. Robbie with the accessories they showed would absolutely be more than $25. The reused retro GR is more than $25. I imagine Mephisto would be more than the $25 price point too. We'll have to see the size and accessories that come with the other tiers if they're ever revealed.
      I don't think it's worth the price, but based on current Hasbro prices you might be able to make the argument @$350 for everything they planned. However, that's not how the stretch goals are supposed to work, so it's pretty scummy on Hasbro's part regardless.

    • @ReeceHoward06
      @ReeceHoward06 Год назад +6

I agree with almost everything you said here, but I strongly disagree with what you're saying at 5:37 It's not just them, and it's not inflation either, it's what I call the "Oligarch Handshake". The biggest corporations have agreed to take full advantage of a global crisis and they are gauging us at the gas pump, super markets, big box stores, and action figures as well. "If everything costs about 30% more, we'll all make more!" Other companies like NECA and Mattel (both public companies too) have had some big price increases, but smaller companies like Tamashii Nations, McFarlaneToys, and Super7 have stayed the same.

    About damn time someone said things as they are and called Hasbro's bs for what it is: "unethical business practice".
    A lot of people don't realize that Hasbro has nothing to lose with this project; those things are made to order, they just make as much product as they need to and that's it. No clearance, no leftovers, massive earnings.
    I was afraid this would happen after the miraculous revival of the Galactus Haslab. They increased the price for that thing (the Sentinel was $250 if I remember it right) and still got funded. They are trying to push that trash again with the FOMO: "This is the only way we'll ever make Mephisto, so back us up".

    Marvel Legends have been an affordable option for collectors for a while pre pandemic. Even though I personally thought $22 was a lot given the quality of these figures, it was still an affordable way to add Marvel figures to your collection. That’s how I got into them in the first place. I haven’t been collecting them for that long, but having a general idea of the quality of a ML figure, it is no where near the $25-$30 mark. NECA’s BTTF figures are around $30 and you get a fully hand painted figure, unique sculpts, hand painted character accessories, alternate heads, and collector friendly packagings. With Legends, it’s like you’re getting the same figure with either a new color for the mold, little to no paint, dated articulation (They’re just now adding double jointed elbows and biceps swivels on females like they couldn’t do it before), barely any accessories, and on top of that they don’t come in a collector friendly package. They’re just thrown in cardboard trays and wrapped in paper. A few of them are, but the majority of these ML figures don’t look or feel like collectibles to me. With these high prices, Hasbro is competing with the big leagues. $30 is reaching Neca/SH figarts prices. $50-$100 is reaching Mafex/Mezco/Figma prices. $350 is a hot toys. I don’t think I need to explain how a hot toys figure has better quality than a basic plastic car with little paint, no cool features like RC or die cast, and another reused ML figure. Also unrelated, but put the recently released Mafex Jean Grey next to the VHS Jean grey. IMO if they’re going to start charging these premium prices for their items, it’s only fair to compare to other high priced items that look better. I honestly can’t find any justification for spending this much money on a Marvel Legends. They have not made anything with the quality of over $300 bucks. Even the Sentinel didn’t look that premium. I haven’t been on the Legends train that long and I already plan on jumping off after I complete my Blue/Gold X-men team, and buying the remaining two figures for my Avengers display, tho I might go Mafex for Iron Man.

I mentioned it in my comment, but comparing the Mafex Jean Grey to the VHS Jean there is too much of a difference. The $100 one has crisp, clean paint application, a great headsculpt, better articulation, two extra heads, several hands, a power effect part, and a stand while the $40 one ($27 on pulse plus shipping which is $6.99 and taxes) is a dated body mold with little paint, inaccurate shading, wrong colors, and no power part. @@malignantool132 True. From what I see on the Marvel Legends Reddit club, mostly all they own are Hasbro. It’s a shame because I can think of so many different companies that do better than Hasbro. There are some products they make that I think look better than some imports. I think their love triangle Wolverine looks better than the Mafex version. But most of the time, import quality is just a step above Hasbro. I own 4 Play Arts Kai figures, a few Figmas. 3 1/4 scale Neca figures. and the Hot Toys Spider-Gwen. Most of the Legends are older and I’m only focusing on the F4, Blue/Gold X-men team, and the Avengers (a mix of 70s era Avengers and MCU in comic form). The only new Legends I have are comic Black Panther, 20th Cap, RYV Spidey/Spinneret, Classic Dr. Strange, and Retro Falcon. Just a few of the new ones that are good. @@BelieveInKnize The problem with this is if you back it, but it doesn't reach Tier 1 (which is a pretty hefty 33% jump over the initial backing level), then you're out $350, but still don't get Mephisto.
      The Marvel Select Mephisto is a great figure, but I feel bringing him up isn't the most feasible option right now, because aftermarket prices on that thing are steeeep. However, MS has re-issued figures in the past (like Thanos), so hopefully see all this hubbub over a Mephisto figure and put theirs back out in the near future.

I’ve been buying the old marvel legends because I just can’t keep tossing out 30 dollars for figures let alone trying to find them at my local stores. At one time, he did not raise the right amount of money on crowdfunding on the last day, stopping at $ 7500 /$8000, and the next day they "anonymously invested" the remaining money, probably Hasbro themselves, so that their first product in this line would not fail.

It sucks, but I’m only buying what I love, and maybe a guilty pleasure when it’s on sale. What hit home for me was the terrible QC of the Black Panther rereleases, like Killmonger’s lack of painted on hair where it was on the old release. I have cancelled a lot of preorders. This isn’t just a Marvel Legends problem, but they are the most blatant. SHF DB figures have gotten a bit lazy too…but still more worth it.
