In my super duper professional opinion. If they resuse a body that's well done, with sculpt and torso articulation, I wouldn't mind as much. But since they reuse half-baked bodies that have either decent articulation with abcrunch and waist twist. or the crappy articulation at the torso with those diaphragm joint and ab crunch. The volume of ML releases really forced me to rethink my collection and I've just recently decided to transition away from "collecting" ML to picking and choosing interesting-looking characters/figures to kitbash/customize to make my own. Now my aim with ML is to mainly pick up all-or-near-all white figures for both standard male and female bucks and just get a bunch of them for dying/custom purposes and call it a day, and only getting figures at deep discount, like some of the deluxe figures and figures with more unique sculpts. Unfortunately Hasbro is not stupid and they're locking "better" figures behind multipacks, like the 5-pack Prettyboy for example, so army-build or getting a bunch at discount for fodder purposes would be impossible. Same with this Elektra, Would I would've picked up multiple of for easy Psylocke repaint if released as a single. I'm sure most people are rethinking their ML collection strategy to be more selective as well, with the price increase and all.
Another issue is also hasbro being perfectly able to deliver good stuff, like the latest dr doom or psycho man, oh and something else that ties in to my previous point that anthony actually pointed out in the psycho man reviee i recall, ML is doing bramd new sculpts for one off characters that people dont really care about thst much. My main issue is money...like let me save up a bit for the series. I liked how old school companies would have a series, tell you straight up all the figures and which ones were exclusives to which store, and once they were out. You would wait another few months for another series. Now it just seems like companies are slowly barfing out figures randomly.
I'm a "legends collector" but I pick up way less than I used to because many of them aren't worth the price. As far as reuse, I genuinely don't mind reuse if they do a good job of hiding it. The new Ronan is a good example. There's enough new bits (like the shoulder and torso) that it conceals the fact the reused the arms and legs. But when Legends just take the RYV body and mold it in red and slap on a new head, that's not good enough. Anytime they just take a base body and recolor it with a new head, I almost always pass on it. I have so many bucky caps and sunfires, and there's literally no difference between any of them other than their head and color. That's it
Anthony you are the best at dissecting a figure, and your suggestions for improving a figure and/or accessories are always great. As for your question, due to the jacked up prices, amount of figures released, and number of lazy repaints, I pick and choose with figures to get. Some I wait and only buy them if they are on sale.
At some point I feel anthony is gonna make a custom of an existing figure in marvel legends and show how it should be. Kinda like his before and after photos of figures, making them anatomically correct.
The Ginyu Force had me laughing! But yeah, wish DD came with open hands- but the 20th Cap hands sorta work. Elektra was going on eBay, but I might keep her until they do a repaint. Buleyes is fine, but not needed. Even though I would take an hour finding the older one.
I'm glad you addressed the issue with ML this year and the umpteen zillion releases. I've gotten ML fatigue from all of the releases. I've discovered it is best to just wait it out on a figure that is an "exclusive" because in time, you will eventually find it on Amazon for way cheaper than MSRP. I do feel Hasbro is just throwing everything out but the kitchen sink not to snare the existing collectors but to entice new collectors. The bottom line is, Hasbro has to make stock holders happy.
I dont mind reuse as long as it's well done and there's sufficient quality put in it. If the base parts were sculpted perfectly it'd be fine and then just have some unique parts added on to really sell it. My issue with reuse is they're engineered bad to start, when a new part is called for they usually cheap out and just paint it, and the paint usually misses the mark. I honestly still like bucky Capt. I'm not replacing my original bucky Capt red daredevil with this, everything is what it should or needs to be with that figure. But there's other uses where they should have swapped out an arm for more sculpted detail instead of paint with other figured and it just looks cheap
I think my main problem with the amount of reuse is the pricing, I fail to see why a repainted body that doesn't come with any accessories besides like one pair of hands is the same price (sometimes pricier) than a completely new sculpt, when the new Black Panther is pricier than the new Spiral...that seems a tad far fetched (at least in my country)
I get that they're not everything they could be, but I'm still glad I have them - I didn't have a red-suit Daredevil, I had a Toybiz Bullseye, and no Elektra at all (Though would have preferred her in red). Agree with the general consensus that they're likely to give us a better Daredevil on a single card, which will be annoying.
To answer your question, I slowed down to only characters i don't have or if it's a big improvement over something I already have. some of these reviewers (not you, you clown the hell out of ML all the time... ) will lie and say that the pricing, lack of paint, lack of accessories make buying these slightly "different" repaints are worth it.
Really considering that Darwin figure, despite not knowing anything about the character outside of him being the Creepy Uncle that appears in these reviews.
I grabbed this set because DD has butterfly joints and his head sculpt is something new compared to the others we’ve gotten in the past. I’d be happier if it had a minimal dark wash so as to see the lines in the mask. I’ll be using Elektra’s big hair look when I get her on the shelf. Don’t think Bullseye is more than a repaint of the one 5 years ago minus the pistol.
I'm getting tired of the re used hands with finger nails on gloved hands and wrong hinges 🤦🏾♂️ Dormamu has the best hands for this Daredevil...yeah that's a problem. Why didn't we get a new battered Matt Murdock head sculpt in a Daredevil themed pack?🤦🏾♂️ The wild hair is acceptable if it didn't weigh more than the figures body making posing insanely hard.
I BEEN CHECKED OUT OF LEGENDS FOR A LONG TIME. EVEN THO MCFARLANE HAS ISSUES OF THERE OWN, YOU HAVE TO APPRECIATE THE MANY ORIGINAL MOLDS THEY CONTINUE TO PUT OUT.
To answer your question yes the re-use in Marvel Legends nowadays is annoying and overwhelming, which is why I tend to wait for the best version of a character to come out. When I say that I mean in terms of paint, detail, physique, articulation and accessories. Back in the days as a kid or teen I didnt mind that stuff so much because it was just cool to see toys of our favorite characters. But knowing that a lot more is possible now and hasbro refuses to do it most times, I end up getting higher end lines sometimes like shf or mafex, and a few mcfarlane. I feel like black series figures go so much harder than most MLs these days. For example I just reviewed a black series count dooku and that figure is damn nice for 1/12 scale that some of these marvel legends make me mad lol. Hasbro is capable but they lack that passion from the TOYBIZ days. Take me back... and then there's also the fact hasbro charges more these days for figures which aren't all that
Wouldn't have had that leg warping issues if they used the hard plastic jointed arms and legs they used on daredevil. As daredevil is just the Sunfire mold twice removed.
20:27 I agree with you, and I have a solution for that and the problems that collectors face: If you want THE figure, it can be totally done. You could produce the best action figure from time to time if figures could degrade, you just need a biodegradable plastic for it to be done. From a certain amount of time, you make a figure that lasts 5 to 10 years before it starts degrading (even less, if you want), you just make a certain character, a good amount of it, without fails and making sure it's exactly what it should be. If you make a good amount, then collectors could have their figures without having to search all the way to Alaska to find it, everyone gets one and it's produced as often as a board game (that hasbro does, very often). Then the time passes and the figure degrades, enough time to make even more improvements to the best figure they made, to be produced and sold to the next generation, kinda like the updates to an existing videogame. Having the best figure, you can have multiple versions of it in the market. With this, you solve the production on non-biodegradable plastics, collector's scalping and reselling, non-accurate figures produced from year to year and finally, you reconsider consumer product worth, so collectors don't base product worth over nonsensical facts like character importance and offer-demand. But until we don't find biodegradable reliable plastics, we're screwed on this marketing nightmare that most (if not every company) does to stay on float
I’d be much more inclined to give the re-use a pass if the moulds they have looked good. I agree 100% with you, re-investment is needed, a variety of new moulds that make anatomical sense and look like superheroes. It’s annoying because we know they can do it, their best is so worth the price point but their usual isn’t worth half that price point. I hope you review Spiral, I’ve had it for a week and it’s my favourite Legend of the year and one of my favourite figures of the year. Mind blowing that she and Avalanche are wave-mates, the gulf in quality is enormous.
Marvel Legends has been doing that where in a wave they give us a figure that is awesome, then stick some lazy, cheap looking repaints in the same wave. An example, Thor the Herald of Galactus is amazing, Madame Hydra looks outdated and very cheap.
100% and there’s at least two or three figures per wave that are like that at the moment. It’s frustrating, I get that budget is what it is and that to do some characters Justice you have to take away from others but stuff like effects are things that cost Hasbro virtually nothing
Despite the DD'S not having line work on each other and the head is a little big But to me, My own Walgreen's exclusive FA Daredevil broke on me and I wish tat this 3 pack was just a regular Hasbro release, But still I will try to get this new classic Daredevil, Elektra, and okay Bullseye, Hopefully Hasbro will re release Daredevil as a single carded release, Amazing review on this 3 pack Anthony.
By this point i am just buying the ones that are actually good (Modular Iron man and monster venom deluxe) so i ain't that inclined to buying figures that aren't up to par like the ones they release once in a full moon, they did that carnage with such a solid paint job in the venompool wave but they can't get clean paint jobs in simple lines and such? Get out of here And i don't want to spend a lot on a figure that will need medical support right out of the package (the Crooked leg from bullseye for example)
Thanks for the video AC. I believe each buck should have a five to eight year life cycle and then should be weeded out. I passed on this set. No paint on DD hurt my chances of buying it. Glad I saw this review before I did anything foolish.
I only just started collecting ML a few months ago because of all the 60th Spider-Man releases. The constant body re uses keep me away from buying new figures, but they haven't been a huge issue in my own collection since I just don't really buy them lol. There have been enough good bodies this year (AF Spidey, Retro Shocker, Retro Lizard, etc) to make collecting fun but I don't see myself collecting for a long time if so many figures will be the same thing with different heads. Granted I'm only really interested in Peter and his main villains, but still.
My Daredevil came without billy clubs. Hasbro Pulse Customer Support refused to replace them because apparently they don't have a back stock of accessory parts for QC mistakes like this. Also, Support can't actually access Pulse inventory. Or so I was told.
I really hate that they keep making a plain Jane classic daredevil expensive as fuck. They put this guy with a bunch of low cost repaints so they could charge eBay prices for him. The last affordable one was the one in that baf wave ages ago. It’s like if they made a bunch of Spider-Man figure, but the only one that doesn’t come in an expensive multipack is cyborg Spider-Man.
A little too small and thin. They go better with imprt size and Articulated Icons. Great review as always and you are among 3 main reviewers whom I trust for getting figures.
Even with the issues, I still think I’ll pick this pack up. Considering I have slowed to a near crawl when buying Marvel Legends, I think I can bite the bullet on this one. I’d like a new Daredevil, and I don’t have an Elektra or Bullseye yet. As for the reuse, yes, it’s super annoying, especially since the molds themselves have anatomy and functionality issues. The mold issues are especially annoying since we’ve seen them make molds without those issues.
Frank Miller's DD is the one in my mind's eye. So I would've liked a bigger bulkier Daredevil. He was always bigger than Spidey. The Vulcan buck would be ok for size but isn't agile enough. Also he wears leather boots and gloves so some new sculpt for those would've been welcome. Matt Murdoch head too. Not keen on the Medusa head for Electra. The skull cap does look like a helmet. The body is decent but needs lower torso articulation. The Falcon figs Retro and otherwise, both use the Sunfire bod, but have bigger better shoulders. Why doesn't Bullseye use use?
I have all but stopped collecting the Marvel Legends, at full price, for this reason. How they can justify deluxe releases such as Ronan, on a standard release Colossus body and two x men 3 packs on basic bodies, and charge £25 per figure. I accept reuse, but even hasbro, in their own brands, do clever reuse, yet not with Legends. This is clear in their G.I. Joe classified. It is shear arrogance on the Legends team side, assuming people will spend on the franchise, not the quality. I will spend the money when it’s worth it. I buy S H Figuarts for the Dragon ball Z, far more expensive but you get your monies work (most of the time), however at least 80% of Legends are basic bodies with a different colour plastic now. I think the nail is in Legends coffin with the Advent sale, taking 50% of the Mojo box set a few month after release, and other such excellent savings. Why would i rush out, when the bulk will be on sale soon, at a pice they should be. i have called Hasbro a lot laterly, but i accept they do some good stuff, when they want, such as the new Spiral. butshe is by far in the minority. they churn stuff out with little love or passion, and it shows on the videos they release these days. you can see they are not even enjoying them anymore.
I only want Daredevil, but I don’t feel like getting this whole pack just for him. And even then, it’s not as good of a redone version as I would’ve hoped for
Great Review, Mediocre figures!!!! You have confirmed to me why I don't want this Tree-Pack (Yes, I said Tree!!!!) Wanted DareDevil to be a good new upgrade, but, still uses that awful neck abomination!!!! The whole package is not worth it to me, Others mileage may vary...not for me!!!! Thanks again, Anthony and Darwin for showing me what's real!!!! Peace!!! Happy Holidays!!!!!
On the question about Elektra's extra head: I love it but I also hate it. Looks glorious and nice but that is not how I see Elektra. Love the straight hair with the snarl a la Frank Miller. Elektra is pretty but this is beauty queen glamour shot pretty.
Hasbro seems to be trying to run the Legends line into the ground with reuse and lack of paint. (Aside from the occasional thing like the great first appearance Spider-Man.) G.I. Joe is great. Power Rangers generally seem good. The overproduction and lack of detail in Marvel Legends seems to be some kind of C-suite move to goose sales and the stock price. They certainly aren't putting passion for character or design into the latest runs of figures
I stopped preordering recently. I have many characters already and I’m only buying things that blow me away going forward. I really love the look of the new Khonshu, but I don’t want anything from that wave, so I’ll wait and get it on eBay or Mercari when it drops to like $50.
As someone who picks and chooses ML figs already because of their price hikes, I'm indifferent. I'll be more forgiving on sales or deep discount like Ollies or Dirt Cheap, but on the whole, I think the people who'd have a big problem are completionists. As far as reuse, it's nature of the beast, and the Vulcan buck is one of their better ones lately. I'd rather have better releases infrequently than tons of mediocrity. Quality over quantity you know, something Hasbro I think needs to learn a lesson in
Thought you’d go in more about Bullseye missing his gun, one of the deciding factors of why I’m not getting this. He looks so dumb with a big empty holster
QotD: Yes! Way too much reuse in Legends. I don't even buy many of them, but it annoys me. If they're going to reuse so many molds between figures then they need to up their total available by another 4 or 5 or something. There just needs to be more variety instead of small, medium, and large. They have the smallish Spider-Man build, then the Vulcan build with it feels like more than half of the male figures will end up on, and then they have larger builds for Hercules and Omega Red. It just drives me crazy how little they're willing to invest in their molds that we get the new animated Cyclops with needless grooves on his forearms because he doesn't have long gloves. They really couldn't have tooled new forearms for characters without long gloves? They can tool a new torso to key-in his belt straps, but forearms is apparently where they draw the line. And then, of course, for females they basically have two or three bodies to use which is even more aggravating.
I think I'm done with most legends. I'll pick and choose now. But I'm not getting any value for my money anymore. I'll probably be going back to high-end sculptures. I don't play with these things after I open them so what's the point of posing now. I'll just go with preposed statues now
Elektra is the only one I'd want. The poofy hair doesnt bother me. I like the original Bullseye but I don't need a second. I'm sorry I still hate that new spiderman body and daredevil has some weird baby toe head thing going on. I like my original lantern jaw one more. The thing I like the most is the sticks and string and I should just get the black daredevil for those.
Anthony you mind doing a pro con video of Marvel Legends vs Mcfarlane Dc toys? Id really like to hear an honest opinion of the two brands. It can be hard to find reasonable opinions from the rest of the YT creators
Zup Anthony, well I haven’t care about ML for quite a while, and my last ML was the spinneret two pack, and that was after watching your review that motivated me to do so. But yeah I am not looking forward anything hasbro/ML puts out. Ahh! photoshop we love it, Thanks for the video bro 😎👍🏼
Sucks that this is an exclusive. A lot of people would like an updated Daredevil.. even unpainted. Any suggestions for a aftermarket gun for Bullseye? Bugs me he doesn’t come with one. I’ll probably check Etsy …Great review !
I really, really wanted a daredevil figure but i had to pass on this. I hate that its in a 3 pack with characters i dont want so it's $80 if I want a daredevil (A 99% red cheap plastic reuse daredevil). I'm just gonna wait for mafex to make a daredevil and get a premium looking figure if i have to pay $80. I dont mind reuse if the money saved is incorporated into another part of the figure or if it makes sense (Like goku in different forms or characters with similar builds). I watched the Jada toys fwoosh interview and it made me realise even more how much most of these companies dont care about making a quality product especially hasbro and how I should only buy things that are worth it for me as a consumer. I recommend watching it and I'm 100% buying all the jada 6inch figures for sf2 and megaman.
Hasbro pumping out all this product to try to improve their financial outlook comes after two years of mismanagement and bad decisions in Legends and Classified, and I have virtually abandoned Legends and am being far more selective about which Classified figures I buy now. I have very little faith left that they know what they're doing or can compete against superior companies like Valaverse, Mezco or Mafex, and am greatly relieved that I don't care about almost anything they do anymore. DD/Elektra/Bullseye represent one of my favorite comic book runs of all time, and this set is absolute trash that I am not even tempted by.

The wild hair is acceptable if it didn't weigh more than the figures body making posing insanely hard.
I BEEN CHECKED OUT OF LEGENDS FOR A LONG TIME. EVEN THO MCFARLANE HAS ISSUES OF THERE OWN, YOU HAVE TO APPRECIATE THE MANY ORIGINAL MOLDS THEY CONTINUE TO PUT OUT.
I agree Electra looks like Medusa! Thanks for the excellent critique Anthony 😘💯👏👍💕❤️💙💜🥰
As daredevil is just the Sunfire mold twice removed.
hey Anthony, great review. do you remember what the retail was on this?
thanks. i just looked in my past orders. 74.99 from pulse
Dardevil standing the wrong way at the end got me
20:27 I agree with you, and I have a solution for that and the problems that collectors face:
If you want THE figure, it can be totally done.
You are army building Darwin!?
Also love the ginyu force pose!
Photoshop
I’d be much more inclined to give the re-use a pass if the moulds they have looked good.
I agree 100% with you, re-investment is needed, a variety of new moulds that make anatomical sense and look like superheroes. It’s annoying because we know they can do it, their best is so worth the price point but their usual isn’t worth half that price point.
I hope you review Spiral, I’ve had it for a week and it’s my favourite Legend of the year and one of my favourite figures of the year. Mind blowing that she and Avalanche are wave-mates, the gulf in quality is enormous.
Avalanche is a real turd. I mean seriously. Some sortve sizemic energy effect or an angry white eyed headsculpt...it's the laziest of the lazy.
Marvel Legends has been doing that where in a wave they give us a figure that is awesome, then stick some lazy, cheap looking repaints in the same wave. An example, Thor the Herald of Galactus is amazing, Madame Hydra looks outdated and very cheap.
@@GameTime-yj6qv idk why they put her own that old body...it boggles the mind. They know that those old female legs warp badly over time.
@@CyborgSodaCollects yup. I mean they already have that newer female body they can reuse.
Get out of here
And i don't want to spend a lot on a figure that will need medical support right out of the package (the Crooked leg from bullseye for example)
Thanks for the video AC. I believe each buck should have a five to eight year life cycle and then should be weeded out. I passed on this set. No paint on DD hurt my chances of buying it. Glad I saw this review before I did anything foolish.
For the crazy hair on Elektra, maybe it'd work better with an angry face, like it's all messed up from battle
The EDITED VERSION is worth BUYING. 😘👌
Surprised we haven't yet gotten an Elektra Daredevil figure yet.
Granted I'm only really interested in Peter and his main villains, but still.
the alternate elektra head was pure comedy 🤣
My Daredevil came without billy clubs. Hasbro Pulse Customer Support refused to replace them because apparently they don't have a back stock of accessory parts for QC mistakes like this. Also, Support can't actually access Pulse inventory. Or so I was told.
Holy cow! Did not expect that score 😳 nice review as always
Review the gi Joe Zarana to see how much articulation they put into the figure. It blows every female legends figure out of the water
Anthony with the double Darwin for the win
The mold issues are especially annoying since we’ve seen them make molds without those issues.
about Elektra's hair: I appreciate the attempt at the crazy hair, but even customizers are cutting out those tentacles..
I wish we could have gotten a matt Murdock head sculp
Hahaha! Elektra seems to be in the middle of the hangover with the second head. 🍻
Hot Take:I would rather no butterfly joints as long as the anatomy is proper because superheroes don't look heroic without good anatomy
Agreed
Sunfire mold has become the new Bucky Cap
Reason why I buy older figs and stuff
I only want Daredevil, but I don’t feel like getting this whole pack just for him. And even then, it’s not as good of a redone version as I would’ve hoped for
Come on man we all have an aunt that has hair like that!!😂😂
Great Review, Mediocre figures!!!!
Was finally about to snap yesterday and order it and it was sold out :/ hoping they release the daredevil as a solo fig.
They Will, with a new paint deco, hopefully better .
@@darkman4747 he really needs the Vulcan body but with toe hinge, that'd he awesome imo.
Q of the Day: This whole line has become one big bundle of “Re” over the last three years.
In my opinion on reuse of parts; if it looks accurate and poses nicely enough, I don't mind too much.
Love the Darwin mascot
😆😅Both figures doing the (Y.M.C.A) crazy poses...🤣😂🤣😂funny till it hurts..😄
Any new info on your line of figures? The video you posted a while ago the figures looked amazing and I’ve been wanting to get my hands on them
Still working
For some reason " .95 Darwins tall" made me burst out laughing
Lol the poses at the end just made me laugh even more
Anthony has two Darwins, that's how you know he's the best Marvel Legend.
I don't. I just took the photo twice with him in different positions and stitched them together
Agreed. New parts are needed.
Hasbro seems to be trying to run the Legends line into the ground with reuse and lack of paint. (Aside from the occasional thing like the great first appearance Spider-Man.)
G.I. Joe is great. Power Rangers generally seem good. The overproduction and lack of detail in Marvel Legends seems to be some kind of C-suite move to goose sales and the stock price. They certainly aren't putting passion for character or design into the latest runs of figures
My Bullseye had the exact same warped leg.
Quality over quantity you know, something Hasbro I think needs to learn a lesson in
It has made me just stop collecting them, mostly. When you look at your shelf and they all sorta blur together, it makes them less desirable.
Medusa marvel legends incoming reusing the alternate head
Thought you’d go in more about Bullseye missing his gun, one of the deciding factors of why I’m not getting this. He looks so dumb with a big empty holster
Soooooo glad this was reviewed, great job! And thanks for keeping it real …..recycled stuff at a higher price point …. Absolutely fatiguing , indeed!
Are the ninjas still a possibility ?🤔🤷🏿♂️
What ninjas? My line? I'm still working on it.
I think it's pretty obvious from my respective reviews but maybe i can do that
are you planning on getting and reviewing the new Mafex 185 Spider-Man?
Yes
Zup Anthony, well I haven’t care about ML for quite a while, and my last ML was the spinneret two pack, and that was after watching your review that motivated me to do so. But yeah I am not looking forward anything hasbro/ML puts out. Ahh! photoshop we love it, Thanks for the video bro 😎👍🏼
darwin's a real chad!
Sucks that this is an exclusive. A lot of people would like an updated Daredevil.. even unpainted. Any suggestions for a aftermarket gun for Bullseye? Bugs me he doesn’t come with one. I’ll probably check Etsy …Great review !
Just another ml figure for the gun
I appreciate the ymca pose 👌
Yes, 100%! Quality has been going down while prices and quantity go up. Horrible!
