  • Hey friends! Today I'm sharing a week of sewing featuring my latest project, this quilted jacket! I'm also painting some taper candles ahead of Valentine's Day-- I'd love to know what you're working on this week!
I got this fabric last year, and fabric dot com has shut down since then. I've seen many people recycle old quilts, and there are also lots of other pre-quilted fabrics on the market!

Candles are lovely! I have never thought of painting candles, good thing to do when it's cold out. I will keep this in mind!

It doesn’t mean the south doesn’t know how to handle snow and ice, it’s that it rarely happens so therefore we don’t have the equipment as the places who deal with it every winter. Love the fabric you used for your jacket. Very pretty.

Definitely! I feel like we get a good snow every two years where I live so not something we plan for every year!

I think the quilted jacket turned out darling. I love the use of the blanket as the lining and the leather buttons just round out the whole piece.

That jacket looks perfect. The shorter size, the buttons and the warm lining you repurposed. I think I have to watch Emma now to see what everyone is talking about. Thanks so much for sharing.

Incredible jacket!! I think my favorite design feature is the pieced/quilted sleeve😍 and those distressed vintage leather buttons were a perfect fit. The deep warm tones really compliment the rosey hues in the quilted fabric.

the fabric you picked out is perfect for that jacket, and I love those candles. I just sewed a top out of a skirt and it turned out great , I got a free pattern at DYI Daisy blog. it was so easy. We have alot of snow and ice here in the North. So Happy Valentines Day, I hope you have fun.

Lauren thanks the jacket is very cute. I wonder if you would go through the process of how you did the lining. I had to line a jacket with no lining pattern or steps to follow. I managed to do it but it was really hard. The Jacket is more of a dress jacket with woven fabric and the lining was also woven. I didn't allow for ease or give in the back of the lining so now I have to cut the lining in the back and add a panel to add some give. Whew. Anyway you are such a meticulous sewist and I like everything you do. Thanks

I love your jacket. Where did you say you got your fabric? Also, what kind of sewing machine do you have and age? You asked what we have been working on . . . I am working on making some new PJ's and nightgowns. It's a lot of fun and a way to use up some of my stash!
