    Life saver. I have an autoimmune disease that made my hair so thin, eventually just falling out! I'm in my 30's, always had thick beautiful hair so it was really hard on my self esteem.
    I couldn't and can't afford crazy expensive pieces and order moderately priced synthetics online &was so frustrated by how quickly they frizzed with everyday wear. I've tried every RUclips hack out there but THIS is what works everytime!
    Thank You 💗

    HI Patti,
    This technique is AWESOME!!! I'm a professional stylist and I've used synthetic wigs and hair pieces in my work for years but I never had a problem with frizzing because the models don't wear them for very long. Then a few years ago I damaged my hair with excessive use of high lift color so I had to cut my long hair to barely two inches of length. I looked so ugly I didn't want leave my house, so I slicked it back with gel, clipped a hair piece on and in minutes it was like it never even happened. People commented on my color being dark again but no one suspected I was wearing a hair piece and I was hooked on wearing hair pieces. You can change your look and be ready to go in minutes and with synthetic hair your style looks great even if it's humid or raining. The only caveat is with frequent wear they frizz in a matter of weeks. So I tried your technique on a very damaged 20 inch piece, (but I used ExpressLocs Revitalizing Conditioner), set it in large pin curls, let it dry over night and results are amazing, it looks brand new! Thank you for sharing this awesome technique and I plan to share it with the incredibly brave women who attend hair and makeup classes I teach for the American Cancer Society's "Look Good, Feel Better" program. Through this program volunteer cosmologist help women, who are dealing with the horrific side effects of cancer treatments, regain a sense of self and we also have a lot of fun! This is a nationwide program with many more women who want classes than volunteers to teach them so any licensed cosmetologists or aestheticians who are interested in volunteering please visit the American Cancer Society website or Google Look Good, Feel Better. Thanks again Patti!
    Warmest Regards,
    Kat

      Yes I have a question for a wig I bought....I'm so upset rn bringing my wig home I thought hay I'll comb it out and make it look nice me being stupid used a fine tooth small tight comb and now I got knots and frizz all on one side of the comb its looks like tangled horse hair....will a detangling spray smooth my wig out again!!!? I hope I didnt ruin it...what should I do and I would rather not use a hair straightener or steam on it....sadly it's a very cheap wig like 20$$....I did keep it in a bucket of fabric softener over night but that def didnt make any difference

    I just wanted to thank you so much for this tip, I used the Jon Renau HD detangler as on your website, and steamed with my steam iron from about 20 - 30 cm away, my wig was a Raquel Welch which the ends frayed really quickly but this tip has brought it back to life like new and saved so much money... Your tips are priceless, than you for helping so many women going through treatment and ongoing illness such as myself, your a wonderful help. :))

    I am new to wearing wigs and currently have a heat-resistent synthetic. When the ends started getting ratty, I tried flat ironing them straight. When that no longer worked I started cutting the damaged ends off. I was at the point of purchasing a new unit when I came across this video. I tried your method and could not believe the fabulous results. The steamer works so well and the detangling spray is a must. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! It is greatly appreciated.

    Patty, you are a genius!!! I ordered the steamer from ebay and used a smoothing serum because I couldn't find the one you suggested. But this method works superbly. I am so impressed with the results. My ratty wig look almost new again. Its amazing. Thank you soooooo very much for sharing this information with us. Ive thrown away quite a few wigs because they were so nappy and matted at the end, I thought there was no hope. But never again. Thank you, thank you, thank you! !

    Hi Patti! I’m new to the wig scene. I’ve been watching a lot of videos. Last week I started wearing my wig to work. I watched this video several weeks ago and I must say, it was THE most useful video I watched. The $30.00 steamer is the BEST investment on the planet for a wig wearer of long wigs. I am truly AMAZED how you can turn the split, frayed ends into perfect hair! 😁😀😁 You are so darn cute and sweet. Thank you so much for ALL your helpful videos..they have made this tough transition so much easier!

    I know this is an old video, but I can't tell you how many times I refer to it to help new wig wearers steam their synthetic wigs when they get tangly and Frizzy, when I first started wearing wigs in 2015 this was the first video that came up to show me how to steam a wig. This is the most in-depth video I've ever seen, nobody ever turns their wigs inside out to steam them which is a must. Which is why this is the only video on steaming that I ever give new wig wearers. Thanks to Patti's pearls this is the best.

I got 2 beautiful toppers that built my self-esteem up so much but they went frizzy and snarled within a week. They do hit below my collar so that was an ah-ha moment for me when you explained the reasons. I had a favorite Jon Renau Top Secret that I was about to toss out because the frizz was so bad. I used this method - I can't believe how silky my topper is now! I also used it to straighten my Top Wave. The waves just didn't look right on me - now it looks terrific. A word about steamers - I was about to buy the Jon Renau steamer for $90 on Amazon, but the bad reviews stopped me. I wound up purchasing one for $25 that is similar to Patti's - it works great!

    • @Wigsbypattispearls

      Hi Pamela!
      If it is a synthetic wig, we don't recommend using the blow dryer at all, even if the setting is on cool. If it's human hair, then using a blow dryer is okay! Either way, the Jon Renau detangling spray can be used daily with a wide toothed comb.

      Steaming a curly wig will actually take the curl right out of it. However you can add the curl back by steaming it and putting curlers in it and letting it dry.

    Hello Patti, I just began wearing a wig about 6 months ago. I went to a local wig store for guidance since I was/am an amateur at all things wig. I decided on a nice Synthetic Wig. About a week or so later, I noticed the nape area would be all matted up when I took it off at night. Thinking it was a defective wig, I went back to the Wig store & was told it was a common occurrence with synthetic wigs, which you confirmed, was due to the fibers making contact with shirt collars. She recommended I use a leave-in conditioner/detangler. I've been searching Google as well as watching countless RUclips videos, literally every day, trying to find away to repair the frizz. You have no idea how happy 🤗 I was to, FINALLY stumble upon your video. I am curious to know if you have any suggestions on what I can use as an alternative to the steamer until I can afford to buy one? I look forward to hearing from you soon.

    • @Wigsbypattispearls
      @Wigsbypattispearls  5 лет назад

      Hi Taressa! A steamer is really the best way to get that direct stream of steam to the problem area. You need that wet heat to get those fibers to behave! Conditioner and detangler will help, but depending on how bad the frizz is, you will probably have the best results from a steamer.

    • @Reesah2u

      @@Wigsbypattispearls Hello Patti, I appreciate your response to my question. After seeing your video where you use the steamer, I have been using a leave-in conditioner until I can get an inexpensive steamer. I start by combing the conditioner thru with a wide-tooth comb. Then I spray again & comb thru with a comb that's not quite as wide-tooth as b4. Then I spray again & comb thru with a regular comb. Lastly, I comb thru with a fine-tooth comb. Luckily, it has somewhat minimized some of the frizz. I hope to get a steamer soon. Thank You Very Much for tips

    Patti - I really would appreciate how to restyle short wigs especially the ones with flips in the back. I can get them to fluff up but they don't tend to have flippy points but it all stands up with the hairs independently. I'm wondering if I need to gel the flippy points first, let it dry, and steam them with the gel, then let that cool/dry again.

      If it's a short spiky wig I would try using the Jon Renau Flexible Spray Gel or the Jon Renau Piece Out Contour Fiber Creme. Both of these products work great for this type of thing.

      It works the same way. You just have to comb the hair and apply steam

    How long can I steam the ends? As is how many times can I go over them? I started steaming the ends and at first it seemed like the ends were splitting as the steam went over them so I stopped in panic. Should I have kept going with the steam and comb? My wig is HD straight. Thank you ❤️

    Yes you can, please make sure to purchase a Bed head tool to bring back the curl. Before you start we suggest to purchase a HD smoother detangle to make this process a lot easier. Good luck!

    Just finding this video and wow! I wish i would've found you sooner to save so many wigs lives, lol! I have a new curly wig and ive waited a whole month to wear it because i knew the clock would be ticking as soon as i put it on my head. Im a little worried about combing curly synthetic hair while wet with the product, so what do u suggest?

    • @Wigsbypattispearls
      @Wigsbypattispearls  2 года назад

      Hi! Thanks for reaching out. Steaming your wig will take out the curl pattern and will re-bake it into a straight style. If you were to steam it, you'd need to use something to restyle it afterwards. If yours is regular synthetic (not heat-resistant), you can use steam to put curls back in it as well. After you defrizz, you can roll the hair into rollers, then apply steam all over. Leave the hair in the rollers until completely dry. We hope you find this helpful! If you need more assistance, please reach out to our customer support at support@wigsbypattispearls.com❤

      Definitely try using the spray, along with a little bit of treatment from a steamer to help calm the frizz if you would like. The spray is called HD Smooth Detangler by Jon Renau. You can view this at our website here: www.wigsbypattispearls.com/heat-defiant-detangler-smoother.html

    hi! Great video, it looks so easy! so I have a question. does this technique work on synthetic hair extensions as well? I just bought a 24" wavy hair extensions from ebay about a little over a month ago. Its loosing most of its soft texture, its rough and ratty throughout the bottom half from its getting so tangled up. Most of its waves are flattening. I tried shampoo and conditioner. And afterwards, combing and brushing it out. and i cant use my straightener because it only has one setting. :(

    Can you describe the color of the Bob that you’re wearing? To me it looks very neutral to slightly ash blonde with an ash blonde base with platinum or neutral light blonde highlights. Usually when I see this color with the 613 it’s golden blonde so I’m not sure if it’s the monitor but you know how hard it is to buy blondes online. My favorite colors are JR Palm Springs blonde and RW Biscuit. I wish they made the rooting on Palm Springs blonde a little bit lighter because to me it looks light to medium brown on my Ignite. Could you please help me? I love that wig and I love that color that shows up on a phone monitor. I love my Ignite but I had to flip the part to the other side for it not to look like a medium brown perfectly symmetrical rounded wig
    hairline.

      Frizz shouldn't be as bad even after washing, but occasional steaming of the wig will help train it!

    Hi Patti
    I steamed my wig watching your instructions, and it is so silky no more frizz! 🤗
    I do have a question though, after doing this my wig is now straight, all the wave is gone ☹️
    Will it come back if I wash it???

    • @Wigsbypattispearls
      @Wigsbypattispearls  4 года назад

      Hi Dana!
      Your waves will come right back once you wash your synthetic wig, since the style is baked in!

    Patti, I just left a message for you on the wrong video. This is de-frizzing video is the one I just watched that is so helpful. I like being able to extend the life of my awesome wigs:) In this video you are wearing a wonderful bob wig style. (I assume it's a wig) This is exactly what I'm looking for. Exactly which one is it? And, can we get it from your shop? Thanks so much. I'm glad to find you.

    • @Wigsbypattispearls

      Absolutely not!! Just steam it over and over till you get it nice and straight. Keep in mind that the steamer is just water.

    Don't you have to apply steam to the hair when it is in the roller? I'm confused... how does it keep the curl if you roll it up after it's cooled some?

    You mentioned a detangler that you have talked about previously, what product is that? Any help greatly appreciated. Just started wearing wigs and am in tears at how fast the wigs are breaking down. I’ve tried a few products that you are supposed to spray after each wear, but they seem to dry them out, and whoa Nelly do they smell overwhelming…help!

    • @Wigsbypattispearls
      @Wigsbypattispearls  2 года назад +1

      The Jon Renau HD Smooth Detangler is the one that we use when steaming. The one that we suggest for daily wear is Envy's Renu and Repair Glosser Spray. The fiber will still frizz and tangle. Synthetic fiber is made of acrylic and a side effect of it rubbing against skin, clothes and material is to frizz and tangle. So, while all of these products will help prolong the life and reduce the side effects, it will not prevent them from happening. Another tip is to only use a wide tooth comb (nothing else). When combing, start from the bottom and work your way up. If you start from the top, it will pull the tangles through the hair which will make it worse. Good luck 😊
