Keep all of those beautiful cut strands left in your brush and, comb, group them together, tie tiny bunches with a mini rubber band put a little glue on the top part, then either loop them through a hair extension bead or glue them onto lace, and now you have new semi permanent hair extensions for free! 😄

This is totally legit. I've been in the business for 40 years and I do this regularly for clients. Sometimes they wait until the wig has a year, give or take....on it so that they can have really thick new wigs for a while when it's new. . It's all a personal preference. Some want it done asap after they get a new wig. But when you get to a point where it's an awful tangled nightmare, this works! You can also add oils to your hands and work through from the ends first going towards scalp base. Avoid allowing too much oil on the base, especially ones with knots. Also try to brush/comb from ends to scalp first, if tangled.

Thinning a synthetic wig is a normal step in customizing any wig, especially long ones. You can also use a razor comb to do this.
You can pay a wig styler to customize your wig or diy.
Sometimes, wigs will still matt up and get frizzy underneath by the neck and I simply dampen the strands and spray them with a mixture of laundry softener and water and then straighten with straightening iron on frizzy parts on a low setting. The laundry softener works because the hair is like polyester clothing fiber, not hair. This takes out frizz and you can add curls if you want.

Of course, I've done this for years with all synthetic wigs and hair systems I've worked on for my clients. The trick is to make sure you dont over cut with the thinning shears. Most wigs and hairpieces come with way more hair than 99 percent of what all humans have anyway. It actually makes the entire wig look way more natural, less wiggy if u will.

    • @kelska

@@areyoucereals hi, if it helps I tried this trick on a 43 inch cosplay wig for Power from Chainsaw Man. I cut A LOT off and the wig still has some thickness to it. If I put it in two pigtails like Miku’s hair it still looks good. I would recommend cutting near the middle and end of Miku’s twintails and avoid cutting near the top so you keep the thickness up top and it looks more natural at the bottom.

Please, please, please!!! If you aren’t an experienced synthetic wearer, please make note! Synthetic is really just a “plastic” of sorts. So with that in mind, tangled or not, never EVER put your brush up at your head and pull it thru!!! For whatever reason you are combing your wig, remember this: IT IS PLASTIC, it will stretch, which gives the ends that raggedy look and will have to be trimmed. If you will do this I promise your wig will last 4 times longer!!!

That’s why they sell real human hair bundles with long and short hair together in one line to prevent tangles and saving cost for longer hair

Oh heavens I have to try this. Personally I love my synthetic wigs more than I do my human hair wigs because they come prestyled and match better with my natural hair texture., the tangling is the only thing I didn’t like so I’m excited to try this technique. I have about 5 to work on lol

This is true I've been doing this for years you're just thinning your wig unit. Sometimes the synthetic units can be too long and too thick, so thinning the unit with shears and taking some inches off extends the life of your synthetic unit without products. This unit really can just finger styled when needed. Great Video!❤️

I’ve read that some people use fabric softener or rub softener sheets on them, that does not work for me. It’s hard for me to understand putting heat to the fibers and that makes them better because I dried a wig out that way it was a Toni Brattin.

You have to debulk synthetic wigs. The fabric expands, which is why the hair tangles and swells. I would suggest debulking the wigs when you first but them .

🚨Pro tip: you start from the bottom and comb it piece by piece like she did the second time, u don’t even have to cut it with the shears.
Cutting it actually thins your wig. Because you’re cutting the hair. They’re called thinning shears for a reason.

    • @jaybube478
      @jaybube478 4 месяца назад +5

Combing alone doesn’t stop tangling. Give it even a few seconds after combing and brushing gently from the root, it’s all matted up again. I haven’t tried her technique yet but maybe just don’t cut too deep into the hair and it’s a one time thing so I’m not too bothered

No shade cos the wig does look good don’t get me wrong but a couple of tips for people. Never ever brush from root to tip as you will pull the hair fibres from the root and after time you will start to see balding and your wig will just fall apart. Also never cut the hair unless you know what your doing remember synthetic hair doesn’t fall the same as human hair and the cut will show if done badly. In fact you should never need to cut tangles out this is a step that’s never needed if you brush the hair properly the hair loss will be minimal and as you can see in the video the hair loss is massive you don’t need to do this. As I said it looks good but I guarantee when the wind blows this wig it’s going to look terrible

While studying cosmetology and working in a salon we called the sheers "hair thinning sheers" and used them on clients with extra thick hair to help it style better without frizzing and sticking out allover.
