    What’s up Raymond! This video was awesome, it definitely gave me more insight on the routine of a ICU nurse. I am currently a 4th semester nursing student doing my preceptorship on medsurg, but I am really interested in the ICU. I recently got done with my critical care rotation and I loved it. I just started creating nursing videos and sharing my journey on here as well. I’m looking forward to more videos bro, keep it up 🩺🤙🏽

    how long are your shifts? do you get help with those 3 patients? feom another nurse or an assistant?
    I am an ICU nurse in the Netherlands. we have 8 hour shifts. I work 3 days a week . 2 patients max. we have only icu nurses working on our unit. and student nurses. no care assistants

    • @sdm1568
      @sdm1568 10 месяцев назад

      From my understanding, nurse to patient ratio for ICU RNs is 1:2, thought it was odd that they're administering 3, but perhaps ita just a rotation protocol

    • @raymondbas
      @raymondbas  8 месяцев назад +1

      Hi there. Everyone in the ICU usually helps each other. And here in Texas, some hospitals provide a nursing assistant, and some don't. But either way, I've been fortunate to have coworkers who are always willing to lend a hand. Thanks!

    • @raymondbas

      Yessir. Its the typical nurse schedule. Time management is big in nursing and it depends on your patients acuity. Most days arent too bad and theres usually time for quick snacks or a water break!

      It’s possible, not all ICUs will take a new grad. But some do, and some new grads can handle it. Not everyone can though so it’s just about knowing yourself and your capabilities and the new grad programs in your area

    • @raymondbas

      You do not, but during covid it made it way comfier as you are also wearing an N95 mask most of the time. Wearing a "hat" or surgical cap/bouffant is usually necessary in sterile environments though, like the OR or during a bedside procedure.
