Talking about fonts in #4. Be aware of the license of the font you are grabbing. It might be free to download and use in a jam, but if you continue to refine the game for a full release with sales, you might need to pay for a license. Or the free download might require attribution in some way, be sure to respect the font artist's time too! :)
I also find it easier if I finish one part of my game before moving on to another. It helps me not feel overwhelmed and gives me a sense of progress to help motivation
Big big tip here - make an online version (triple the views and ratings and such) and be SURE to test exporting with said online version. First game jam and i got to the end - and found out the html module hadn't installed (which is used for exporting browser games) DO IT
good thing i’m joining a game jam this week and school is nearly and i’ve completed the last of my homework. bad thing is i’ve lost 2 days doing homework :(
@@Vimlark yesss so i am I'm against A really good devloper This is not good for me 😂😂 but it is oky i am reallly Happy Because you're going to participate And I'm excited to see your video About the gmtk game jam love youuu ❤️

Very true! I should have mentioned that.

That's a great tip! I try to do that but tend to get frustrated and bounce around. But I always strive to finish one thing before moving on.
#1 - Make it short
#2 - Make it simple
#3 - Make it easy (for you)
#4 - Make it pretty
#5 - Make it rested (don't grind for hours)
Sound advice! I'll watch this video as a reminder before any game jam I participate in (hopefully... because it's easy to forget)
It's so easy to say all these thing, but it's so hard to follow them lol.
I just signed up for my first game jam and I've learned and been more motivated than I have before. It's very hard to put down though

HTML is not necessary in big jams. if you can it helps, but a download is fine as well
That is a great tip. Anything that can make it easier for the player to play and enjoy the game can help.
hey win lark, love your videos!
Thank You!

It’s a good day when Vimlark uploads. Especially when it’s about game jams.

These are gold. If playtesting is possible it can help with determining the difficulty level. Very helpful, thanks!

About the taking breaks, there are so many times when people can't figure something out, take a break, and then solve it like that.
