Thanks for the demo Bruce!
Ha Bruce I have 1 and I have treated 400 hives with it is great I love mine I only have 30 colonies but I have been treating them every week some times every other week since I got mine in the mail. It is the best tool I have ever bought for bee keeping. enjoyed your video hope u enjoy your bees have a blessed week
It’s actually fun to use!
Very nice and way easy. No more dragging cords around cords and worrying with a generator. Thanks for the video. Take care.
Yes! So much better!!!
Thanks Bruce, It looks super easy and I'm going to get one. ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!
Best thing I've bought! Top quality and very easy to use.
Yes! Game changer!
Definitely a nice unit Bruce. Great demo video, thanks for sharing!!
Thanks Mike. Amazing unit!
A very nice unit indeed. I got mine at the beginning of October and I absolutely love it. I only treated one of my apiaries with it just to see how well it would work. Now that were in mid-November and our temperatures are finally dropping, just a crazy fall so far we have been having temperatures up around 70°. My plan is to get out next week and get all of my apiaries treated and drop some last-minute mountain camp sugar on them to ensure they make it through the winter. We just got our first snow last night. Thanks for sharing.
Yep. It’s a game changer for sure. Love it!
Really nice setup!!! Thanks!
I received mine this summer I’ve always had difficulty getting all of my hives treated but with this new product it was easy convenient and took about a 10th of the time to accomplish the goal
Yes! So fast!!!
I’ve had one for a month now and I love it
Game changer…
6 min video!!!! yee haw.....so well done!!
Thanks man. It was fun!
I love your videos and would love to have this vaporizer But, it is very expensive. All of my favorite RUclips bee guys are promoting this unit. I wish some of you guys would seek out other units and other brands that are more affordable. I am sure there are other great units from other companies that would be great for us smaller backyard beekeepers. That said, Bruce, you are one of my favorites to watch. Love how authentic you are.
Thank you. Rob does sell a more affordable unit. Here is the link. lorobbees.com/collections/oxalic-acid-vaporizers?sca_ref=925819.Rw5v3swsBM. I also am hoping to do a video comparing 3 or 4 different units at varying price points. Just haven’t gotten around to that yet.
Thanks so much for the support.
Love it, 20 hives in 33 min.
Thanks for the simple explanations and product demo. The mask you are wearing is a particulate mask and not a vapor mask. Use with care.
Great demo. Now I'm gonna have to go spend some money....
Links in the description lol. In all reality it is a great product and I believe worth it for my situation. Speed and convenience are key and I can finally justify making purchases like this. Game changer for sure!
Just ordered one !
Awesome. You will not be disappointed.
Thanks for the review and demonstration. You showed placing a towel in the entrance. What's the rule of thumb for time to keep it blocked off?
Not sure exactly but I have heard about 10 minutes. Truth be told I have done a lot of treatments with no towel but it is best to use them I believe to help keep the vapor in the hive.
Blasting mites is one of my favorite activities in beekeeping.🤩Ty Bruce for sharing your time, great demo.👍
How heavy is it and will the nozzle hold up to the weight sticking out the back of the hive? Also will they only work with the plunger? They seem way cool, but the issue I have had is how mt unity hang on the hives.
I think they will work fine hanging on the back of the hive. My guess is that’s how it was designed. But it definitely works good sitting on the front. The nozzle rests just under the lip and holds it in place. On my standard hives or pallets without a gap I will probably treat from the front. But like I think they would work great from the back as well.
@@brucesbees cool cool, ty have a great day.
Just ordered mine last night, just waiting on it to get here so i can blast some mites.
Awesome! I’m sure you will love it!!!
Great job bruce. I have dewalt batteries but they are 2ah. So maybe I will see about that next year. God bless
It is a great tool Grayson but for the number of colonies you have it might be better to go with the more affordable option. Or even one of the basic wand type vaporizers. These are quite expensive. It would work well it’s a lot of money for just a few colonies.
@@brucesbees That is what I was thinking as well, does the company that sell these sell cheaper ones? I will have to look, thanks and god bless
Yep. lorobbees.com/collections/oxalic-acid-vaporizers?sca_ref=925819.Rw5v3swsBM
@@brucesbees Thank you very much, I will look into this next year or sooner, god bless
Nice unit . Seeing some European beeks using them
It is quite the machine.
Bruce.. do you still like this unit? I’m thinking of buying one
It's a nice unit for sure Bruce but a little out of my price range for no more hives than I have, maybe one day.
Makes sense. I would probably certainly use the more basic unit if I only had a few. These Instantvap units are something else though!
Bruce, I’m sure Rob appreciates the video but it makes me want one because I hate dealing with the extension cord but I can’t justify the $ for the convenience to treat my hives…
Absolutely understood. It is pricy especially with the batteries but really will help with speed in my operation. And the convenience is next level. Just the vaporizer, the Oxalic acid, the plunger, the battery, and of course the protective gear. Can literally hop out of the truck and start treating almost immediately. Just turn the machine on and let it warm up and get to work!
The older type models have dropped considerably in price... I'll wait until this one drops as well in several years before taking the plunge!
The InstaVac looks great. For most Beekeepers the total cost with new Dewitt batteries and charger is out of range for them. Hopefully at the Hive Life Conference 2023, Lorobbees will have a nice discount. Love your videos.
Do the bees like the nesquik? Does your honey taste chocolatey? Just kidding. Good video, thanks for sharing!
Yep. Happy bees haha.
Did you get through the yard on one battery?
No. The 6 aH batteries seem to last for about 22-24 hives a 4g OA per colony.
Where can I get that mask? I’d love to have one like that! 😊🐝
Be sure the right filter. rzmask.com/?gclid=Cj0KCQiAsdKbBhDHARIsANJ6-jfLAdsQUBhSNqkVK-1PSEOzV5RD_by-qJI8p0lg29tq5l4qT8iT9nUaAgJ6EALw_wcB
Settings? 445 degreess w/3(gram) plunger spot? I had trouble hearing you. Might want to post that in video description. Might be better to treat late in evening after sundown because bees are all home.
Yeah I think it’s 445. It comes preset.
Bruce, how many hives can you treat before you need to recharge a battery?
Each 6aH battery will treat about 22 or 23 colonies at 4 grams. If you use less OA it will treat more for sure. I have 4 batteries.
how often do you treat the hive, and is it ok to eat the honey after its been treated or is it just a fall thing you do when youre not taking honey anymore?
I did not see anything on the box about treating with or without honey supers. I am still learning about this product. Not an issue right now as I have not added honey supers at this time.
I think standard protocol is to apply monthly but if there is a problem more often. The pollination bees are about to leave for Cali but will probably get another treatment in. Those that have been sick and stay behind will hopefully get a total of 3 to 4 treatments once a week and then we will back off and see what happens. I think I will definitely try to treat in late summer during our dearth. That is when I typically have the most loss.
Here is the website. Looks like it is safe to use year round of you want.

Bruce where did you get your respirator what part number Thanks
It is an RZ Mask. Be sure to get the proper filters (organic acids). I am not necessarily recommending I but is works for me. rzmask.com/?gclid=Cj0KCQiAsdKbBhDHARIsANJ6-jd2oKoYF1Wm3JkPZWawOdziPBSnkNMosdRB0RPZbHrJjmCsqvE8554aAuM4EALw_wcB
We use an organic vapour acid gas
If you can taste it, it’s getting through
Yep. If you catch a whiff of it there is no doubt. You will know immediately if the mask is ineffective.
Which batteries do you use? 18volts? 5Ah? How many hives do you treat with one battery? Thanks
These are the batteries I use: DEWALT 20V MAX Battery, 6 Ah, 2-Pack, Fully Charged in Under 90 Minutes (DCB206-2) a.co/d/5FTB7RV. They will each treat about 20 or so colonies at 4 grams. Will do more at less grams. Per treatment.
@@brucesbeesThank you Bruce!!
@jaumecambra9648 you’re welcome. Thanks for checking in
How long do you leave the towel in the entrance ??
About 10 minutes.
@@brucesbees How many treatments?
Per Cameron Jack who is an expert in the field at the University of Florida, OAV treatments seem to be most effective when you apply 4 treatments at 5-7 day intervals.
@@brucesbees Thank you great info. 👍🏽
Bruce. It has been a year. Would you still recommend it?
💯. I have both the original Instantvap and the Compact now. Love them both

Thank you!!
I run double deeps and not sure it's worth it for me. Annoying to use an extension cord, but I can treat every yard that way without having to stop and charge batteries.
I have 4 batteries. I run deeps and mediums. I have been getting 22 or 23 per battery with 6aH batteries. So if tearing more than 90 hives or so I will begin to charge the battery and move into the next. Should be able to get it charged with the fast charger before I use the others. If not is can always buy more batteries. It is a major in están the up front but it really just depends on how valuable your time is. It is not worth it for everyone I understand but for me it is and works well.
@@brucesbees Treating 22-23 hives per battery? If so how many grams per hive body are you treating with? That's honestly better than I was expecting.
4 grams per deep/medium combo is what I used. If less then would do more. If more then would not do as many. How may grams do you typically use in your doubles?
@@brucesbees Wouldn't want to say I use more then is approved, but I try and go with an effective amount.
Yes per 6aH battery.
How long do you see batteries lasting when treating?
22- 24 colonies at 4 g. I am sure you could get significantly more down at 2 g.
6aH batteries.
@@brucesbees how LONG do the batteries last when treating in your experience?
If you mean battery life I do not know. These are brand new batteries. Exact amount of time treating I am not sure. However long it takes to treat 22 - 24 colonies at 4 grams. That time would be extended if using less OA. Not sure how else to answer your question. I think it probably takes about 45-50 seconds per colony at 4 grams.
@@brucesbees yes, just wondering if you had to go through many batteries or did one last a While while you treated
can you set it for 4 grams Bruce?
Yes. That’s what I actually treated with. I think I got 24 colonies out of the battery. 6aH batteries. That’s at 4g.
@@brucesbees oh ok....at 2:20 said 2 grams.....thanks!!
Yeah I should have clarified.
Might not want to put the 400 degree front on your back up battery…safety first
I hear ya. Thanks fir the tip.
